      lol. i know right. i actually slash the fire monster and the hooded guy with the staff near the entrance to level up. When i nearly ran out of health, i run out the door and recover.

      i know. that is kind of how i grind in ilvern ruins, i slash the fire monster and the hooded guy near the entrance to level up. while froglord of destiny level up from slashes the owls that is kind of way inside the ruins.

    I'm feeling like it's 2007 again. such a golden year for playing old school games.

    Just when I thought Be Careful was the best song in the video game world, save for He's Got Wings, then I heard Ilvern Ruins. It seemed that every stage I played in the SNES version just seemed to get greater and greater in music. But my god was the game hard! Took me 12 years to beat it. Didn't replay it til I was 22.

    I love the deep purple sounding keyboard In this game, funny thing I noticed the firedragon was named Gillan like the singer for deep purple

    Top down view+running into things for damage was hilarious XD but sidescrolling from III was by far my favorite. Even if that means cheap hits from those evil plant things >.>

    This version has a really cool percussion arrangement. Very poppy-- I like it.

    Oh god I can't even remember. I just remember running into things and dying constantly! XD It was just the fact when you hit things it didn't go flying back. I was used to the Zelda playstyle.

    Wow, long comment!
    I had the game as a kid myself, but I lost the cartridge at one point or another...
    It was a shame, but when i found out that I could play it again with an emulator, I was ecstatic! Games like these you'll always remember, heck, its ones like these that truly deserve the name "classic" =)

    Y'know, I really love this cover art. I think it might be my favourite snes cover art.

    I remember those all too well...after awhile, you've just gotta jump on past them and accept the damage, and hope to get a herb!

    I bet this game 8 time during 1996-2002 the part that was had for me was the dragon and the final boss this song rocks i love it this game kicks ass

    I myself grew up on the SNES versions, So it became my personal favorite, mainly because I hadn't even heard the other ones, heh.

    I think the designers knew that spot was there, because Valestein castle was still brutal as fuck even at level 16 with all the gear.

    it's all about the crawling stabs

  • @ArcaniumPrime
    @ArcaniumPrime 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    this was usually the place where i maxed my levels. i would do the upward stab on the birds that swoop down to attack. if you were strong enough and fast enough, you could kill them without receiving damage. respawn seconds after killing them. you don't have to move.

    Though I did find the sidescrolling graphics to be misleading at times. For example, it took me years to figure out that you didn't have to crawl under the spear statues in the castle, even though the tip of the spear looks like it should hit your head when you run under it.

    one of the worst areas for me was Balacetine castle, with those spikes that come up from the ground. One hit kill!

    Thumb up if you level up killing birds automatically by holding UP + Attack with a book for hours

    beautiful music. I actually used this music for my action home video i made nearly 11 years ago.
    I actually died quite a number of time too as i try to level up beginning of this area and exiting the ruins to heal and and save at the entrance. The game play would have been better if they make it a bit easier, faster, and more fun to level up.
    I think my oldest brother bought this game back in early 1993, maybe near the end of winter or beginning of spring 1993.

    Thanks for posting all the SNES Ys III tracks. Some might say "blasphemy!!", but I prefer some of the SNES tracks over the Turbo Grafx/PC Engine ones.

    Heh, it's the kind of song where you'll be lying around, and then this song comes on, then it's all "I'm gonna do the 100k!"
    Or something to that degree XD

    Ahh, someone else who wasn't fond of the "top down" perspective. Maybe its how it makes the game seem "older", maybe its just because of how much harder it makes it to hit ennemies, or the fact that it reduces the quality of the graphics, but yeah, it was a no-go. I rememebr playing the game myself when I was younger, and I've gotta say, loading it up to find the snes had wiped your saves was never a fun experience! XD

  • @Nagoragama
    @Nagoragama 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I don't understand why people like others versions over this one. Sure, the other versions may have better quality synthesizers, but none of them compare to the crisp instrumentation of this version.

    I still prefer the Genesis version of YS 3 for its music, I once had a project in school to make my own country, and one of the land marks was Alcano/Ilvern Ruins

    • @86leewis

      Matt Brine I personally think it sucks. I think it's really which version you played. ballectine castle music is bullshit compared to the Sega attempts at incorporating a rock element in it
