    My grandmother introduced me to this game. It was her favorite and she spent hundreds of hours replaying it. It's one of those games that never got the rating it deserved and holds a special place with me beside Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 4

      Joe Franlin Agrred, Ancient Cave is absolutely amazing and the sole reason I started playing Dark Cloud/Dark Cloud 2 (Chronicle).
      Pity I never finished either though, but have Ebayed both for next week.
      Anyway, Lufia 2, gawd I wish it would get a DECENT remake in the modern era, with everything kept the same just with a shit load more additions (and make Arek a superboss since....like everyone wants to know what that dude's goal is).
      And Arek is my name....so....by everyone I mean me more than anyone else. >_>

      +Nova Gavi Pretty sure Arek is god, and in my opinion, the Sinistrals are sent to test humanity. If they cannot manage to drive the sinistrals away, then they don't deserve to continue existing.

    • @Vereid
      @Vereid 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I suppose that does explain some of Erim's back and forward behavior.
      But regardless, it still wouldn't be the first time "god" has been beaten in a game lol.
      I thought a translation of one of the other Lufia games did confirm that Arek (called something else, I can't remember what, but still referred to as "Absolute") was the god of the Sinistrals, so god of gods so to speak.
      Anyway, I'd still like to know more about him than the regular 4 it shows, with the occasional line drop from Daos or Erim about Arek.

FFIV, FFV, FFVI, Seiken Densetsu II and III, Secret of Evermore, Romancing SaGa 1-2-3, Lufia 1 and 2, Front Mission, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together, Date a Live, Terranigma, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Zelda LttP, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Tales of Phantasia, Dragon Quest III (SNES version), IV, V and VI, Shin Megami Tensei, Breath of Fire 1 and 2. Bahamut Lagoon, Fire Emblem 4 and 5. If you never played any of these games, grab BSNES and try them out.

    There's this feeling of trepidation when you hear this theme play on your first-ever playthrough - you just know this is going to be a tough fight, especially since the one just introduced himself as "Gades, Sinistral of Destruction". Most will fall, and that's okay.
    But when you prepare enough, and with your currently-miniscule strength you find victory? That is the most satisfying feeling - which is only accentuated upon when afterward, Maxim holds a new sword above his head and a text box appears claiming "You obtained Gades' Blade"

    Did anyone ever level grind enough (not very hard on New Game+ with the 4x exp multiplier) to be able to beat Gades the first time you face him at Gordovan West Tower? Sure, he just goes "Ah, now see my true power!" and wipes you out in a cutscene anyway, but you get an IMMENSE amount of exp and gold and the Gades Blade, which will be the most powerful weapon you can get for Guy or Dekar for most of the rest of the game (especially with its devastating 'Octo Strike' IP tech). Plus it's simply one of the tensest and most awesome battles you'll ever play! A lot of effort, but worth it!

    • @betaubtesfaultier3607
      @betaubtesfaultier3607 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +ArcaneAzmadi I have done it one time. But I think i don't do it again, because you need to grind so much. And except for this fight it is not nessecary.

    • @ArcaneAzmadi
      @ArcaneAzmadi 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Betäubtes Faultier Yeah, to be honest it is rather boring- about 2-3 solid hours of running around fighting monsters in Gordovan West Tower to raise yourself from the roughly level 17 you should normally be at this stage of the game to the level 25 or so you need to be to stand up to Gades (if your level isn't markedly higher than the default then Selan and Tia and possibly even Maxim won't survive even a SINGLE hit from Gades' Destructo Wave attack). But damn it's satisfying to do just once.

    • @ggk4xlb91
      @ggk4xlb91 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ArcaneAzmadi That sword works on shadow element enemies if you pair it with the undead ring too. You can annihilate most enemies in the game with a light elemental Gades blade.

    Aye, the original version is downright awesome, I am certainly not going to argue with that. I also love the one that was done with a full on band too, ha ha, a heavy metal remix in my books is downright perfect.
    Still, I give the composer mad props for coming up with such an awesomely catchy song, and thanks for posting it. :)

    There are pretty cool remixes of this one out there - especially the G.M.F. (Game Music Finland) and S.S.H. remix version of the Battle #3 theme or the remix of Zircon called "Searing Aggression".
    I'm working on a remix of the Sinistral Battle Theme as well.
    If you want to listen to you can find it on my TH-cam channel or Soundcloud.
    My remix is called "Tyrant Breaker".

    I never played this game but I think I first heard this track back in the good old days of MIDI files. I was instantly hooked and hearing the original was 50 times better. I actually came up with a couple of RPG battle themes of my own and I realized they were unintentionally inspired by this track
