Not sure how effective it would be to use four 2,500 mAh AA or 900 mAH AAA as a portable battery charger (AKA Power Bank)... When the batteries are connected in series: 4 x 1.2V = 4.8V, which comes pretty close to its 5V USB output. However, the charge capacity remains at 2,500 mAh (AA) or 900 mAh (AAA) in series connection. Why would would anyone even consider to charge the phone with 2,500 mAh (or even 900 mAh) of storage capacity, only to get less than 50% of the juice after 2.5 hours?
Emergencies, perhaps? In an extended power outage, you could charge your phone from any AA or AAA batteries you could get your hands on, including the ones in your remote controls, clocks, etc.
