    Paul, big fan, but you missed a couple very crucial things here. Firstly, this only applies to people who have been overweight for a while and have been very sedentary. Otherwise, their muscle mass may already be sufficient, which it is for a lot of overweight people. This will especially be the case (having actual muscle underneath) for men. Second, over training cardio does indeed do what you said, but overtraining weight lifting, strength/hypertrophy training will do it just as bad, with an added extra level of stress to your nervous system. You should have first and foremost emphasized a low carb diet, because that is without question going to make a bigger difference than any workout routine.

      Surfing, the actual act of standing on the board and riding the wave is the only part that is cardio. The rest of it, paddling, swimming, controlling the board...that's all resistance training. It's why swimming is considered resistance training and not cardio. You can do lap sprints to do some cardio, but overall it is resistance training. Which is why swimming and surfing are so good as a way to build lean muscle and lose weight. They are also full body exercises.

Maybe for people who take PEDs like the liver king sure it’s easy but for a natural unless you have elite genetics you will still have to do cardio if you don’t reduce your calories okay so let’s say your build 20 pounds of muscle which is roughly 10 kgs per pound is 8 calories so that’s an extra 80 calories okay well that isn’t a lot so you have two choices restrict calories which from experience feels horrible or eat what you are eating and burn 500 calories through exercise. If cardio sucks when it come the weight loss why would body builders even bother with cardio why would endurance athletes even touch the treadmill or exercise bike if cardio was that bad.

    I have never understood this way of thinking.
    I hurt my back, ended up gaining almost 50.lbs.
    So I set my Stand Up phone app reminder to go off every 25 minutes. I would then jog on my mini trampoline for 3 minutes. Did that all day long. Nothing stressful. After four months I lost all my extra weight.
    …and all this a couple years before I even started carnivore. My diet before was maybe slightly better than average but I didnt cut anything back or change what I was eating.
    So yes, cardio does help you lose weight. Not sure why several carnivore gurus keep insisting on saying the opposite.
    Currently I walk three miles everyday and a few times a week I jog on my rebounder for 30 minutes a day.
    …oh, and I was not doing any resistance training during that time. I do now.

    • @charleshill1906
      @charleshill1906 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you want to lose weight, doing cardio is basically the worst option that you can choose. Yes, it does work. Just like CICO works to a degree. But for optimal weight loss and health, lifting weights, doing resistance training is far superior to just going for a walk. The more muscle mass you can pack on the greater the amount of calories you burn around the clock.
      Cardio doesn't build muscle, it only builds endurance and it only affects your cardiovascular system.
      Weight training/resistance training builds muscle AND endurance AND taxes both your central nervous system and your cardiovascular system.
      This idea that running everyday is superior to weight lifting everyday has long since been debunked. Weight lifting and resistance training are the most efficient use of your training time.

    • @pixelkat1819

      @@charleshill1906 i didnt say running was superior. I was just stating that the idea that cardio doesnt help with weightloss is obvious BS.

    • @charleshill1906
      @charleshill1906 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pixelkat1819 Yeah, I get your point, but Saladino's was that resistance training is superior not that it doesn't work. Had you instead done weight lifting you'd have seen results quicker because the act of lifting weights taxes both your CNS and your cardiovascular system and builds muscle while cardio just affects your cardiovascular system and, if you do it too much, it can cause muscle loss.
      I used to run all the time when I was trying to get into the Marines back in the day. I was constantly running several miles every day on top of trying to do calisthenics and be able to do pullups. If I knew then what I know now I would have straight up stopped running because after a year of doing dead hangs and assists to no end I couldn't ever get a single pullup. It wasn't until I got into boot, after not running for about a month that I was able to crank out 5.
      The constant running every day was overtraining my body. Eating a calorically restricted diet and not understanding anything about nutrition and only focusing on calories caused massive setbacks in my training and was making me weaker. That month I took off before going to boot camp I ate whatever I wanted.
      But then back in boot camp it was back to running every day and doing calisthenics and eating in a huge caloric deficit. It wasn't until I tore the tendons off my ankle that I ended up in MRP and got off the caloric restriction and was actually able to weight train, I managed to get a 220 bench inside a month and up to 20 pullups.
      Cardio once or twice a week isn't going to hurt you. But every day, miles at a time will shred your lean muscle mass because you just don't need it.

    The people on the biggest loser weren’t burning 500 calories they were burning like 3000 calories and exercising until they vomited. Exercise won’t ruin your hormones though if you are 6% body fat taking PEDs and have the free testosterone of a 81 year old man then you are indeed ruining your hormones but that’s not what the average man at 15% body fat is doing

  • @CSTEnjoyer
    @CSTEnjoyer ปีที่แล้ว

    The biggest loser people gain their weight back because after they return home they don't have a controlled environment anymore. You need to change your habits.
    Resistance training is according to some new studies even more important for the health of your heart because muscles produces certain hormones etc etc.
    Losing weight is calorie in, calories out. I personally find it way easier to just burn 1000kcal than to restrict my eating for the same amount. Also cardio feels really good and helps dealing with stress. Nothing like the feeling after a good run.
