Hi Josie! I’ve used the cake strips for years now! They are awesome. I soak mine in ice water while I’m mixing up my cake. Then I hold the strip high and slide my fingers down to squeeze out the excess water before putting them around the tin. Then, another cake tip, once in the oven, don’t open the oven for at least 20 min. If it’s a cake that cooks longer than 20 min, then I’ll open the oven and spin the cake tin halfway for a more even bake as well. Happy baking! ☺️

Good point! I only just found out about this noxious weed a year ago. I was so grateful to be spared because it looks so robust and flowers so beautifully down the road from me. (Hamptons, NY)
Maybe you'd like to consider using silica gel for preserving/drying your flowers? I think they retain their shape better that way. Although I haven't tried it so I cant say for sure. You can repurpose the silica gel afterwards (it absorbs moisture) so you can use it to keep your seeds from getting molds, your leather and camera from moisture etc.

Unfortunately, eucalyptus has nothing to do with the English garden. It is an Australian native. It is not the best representative of that English Cotswolds garden bouquet.
You mentioned brass jelly moulds but antique copper ones really look stunning, the only downside is cleaning them, a tad more labour intensive than modern moulds.

As a recipe developer / recipe tester and writer, cake bands are a great idea. If you are baking say a fruit cake or Christmas cake, may I give you a little hack? make a hole in the middle of the cake, to the bottom of the pan (making it like a polo) this will help considerably with doming. Try it out ~ Let me know what you think. P.s. I did dried rose petals at my wedding, worked great, as some churches don't like paper confetti, as it's not biodegradable. 💕

I've mentioned it before, but the footage shot on the iPhone is equally as incredible! I don’t know if this will work for everyone but this is what works for me when I have hiccups. I have a glass of water in hand and bend over at the waist until I’m able to drink the water from the far side of the glass. In other words the opposite side to how you would usually drink from a glass of water. Drinking water while almost upside down instantaneously stops hiccups for me. 😁

Gosh! I never thought about this, but driving on the right side of the road - the British way -- you almost have to be LEFT HANDED! I'm sure you, Josie, as well as all Brits, are used to this. You mentioned brass jelly moulds but antique copper ones really look stunning, the only downside is cleaning them, a tad more labour intensive than modern moulds.

Josie, I have been wearing my Josie dress today in white, I have it in four colours. It's been about 31 here today in Spain, and even though this dress is lined, it is still a really cool dress with it being cotton. I love it! x 😊
As a recipe developer / recipe tester and writer, cake bands are a great idea. If you are baking say a fruit cake or Christmas cake, may I give you a little hack? make a hole in the middle of the cake, to the bottom of the pan (making it like a polo) this will help considerably with doming. Try it out ~ Let me know what you think. P.s. I did dried rose petals at my wedding, worked great, as some churches don't like paper confetti, as it's not biodegradable. 💕

I don’t know if this will work for everyone but this is what works for me when I have hiccups. I have a glass of water in hand and bend over at the waist until I’m able to drink the water from the far side of the glass. In other words the opposite side to how you would usually drink from a glass of water. Drinking water while almost upside down instantaneously stops hiccups for me. 😁
