    thanks again for another great video !!! i do tons of 2 stroke engine repair , one thing ive noticed on any 2 stroke engine that has been sitting up for a long period of time is that even after a complete overhaul of the fuel system it still takes time to get it to run right , most techs give up on it ,, its really simple it takes awhile to burn out all the impurities out of the crankcase , old gas residue , moisture , all that stuff takes time to burn out and it will foul a new plug out just stay persistant and keep pulling till that stuff burnes out and it will run perfect

    Your correct about the air injection 254's having the exhaust deflector and the earlier ones not having it. The earlier ones also have a standard screw on the air cover and the newer ones have the Phillips screws from what I've seen.
    Great video, please keep them coming.

    Dragged out a 254 today for a days coppiceing the old girl not seen light of day for a few years but worked hard all day ! All be it she is a very tired saw not much compression left in her ! This video has inspired me i have many boxes of 254 and 262 parts from dead saws ! Have you any figures for reducing the squish on a 262xp barrel and piston ? Not attempted the base grind before would love to give it a go , also did you advance the timing at all or is this not viable on these saws?
    Many questions sorry loved the video cheers

    I know that the generator for the heated handles is mounted on that 4 screw holes on that aluminium seal holder. is that maybe the difference if the use a alu one of a plastic one?

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not certain as all the older ones with the "no hole" on the clutch side had the aluminum seal holder. I didn't find one with the heated handle options either in this set. That would be a question for "Saw Troll" on the forums. Bob probably has the info in those books..

    • @marcelh85
      @marcelh85 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the IPL's i found i cannot find that plastic holder, and all shows the heater option. and the seal holder with 3 holes for the generator. maybe there have been a service note for. and if you need that part you automatic get the alu piece

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rather have that aluminum part actually! Guess they are the lowest common denominator on ALL models aren't they. My dealer locally said they were NLA BTW at least here.

    • @marcelh85
      @marcelh85 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant say for sure if the are here NLA. my dealer has not marked the part as NLA. so I guess I can still get it. but I have to say, my dealer have a lot parts in stock.
      The even had a new clutch side bearing for a 242, the dreadful not to get bearing (now its in my parts stash)

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't busted the 242's down yet to the bearings. But hope to before the year is out. IF that aluminum seal holder for the 254's can be had, I would like another one for a later build. I was told they were NLA...not from spike60 but the local dealer.

The Cutting Edge is across the state. :) Actually interested in those 6100's as I've heard a lot of good things about that class and understand that chassis my "grow" in the future.

    Hey I have a 254xp I can get it to run good on the low but when I try to cut it boges down tried to set the high screw but no way... Cleaned the carb looked at the ring it's good .. could the coil have anything to do with it thanks

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tough to diagnose from a distance. Start with a vacuum test to make certain the main seals are good, then a compression test to make certain its over the 130 range. Fuel line ...replace, carb kit ....basically do the basics and you will run into the issue. Probably a fuel starvation issue, bad fuel line of diaphragms in the Carburetor. But regardless...still need to do the basics to make certain the mechanicals are sound.

    • @WAR-VIKING
      @WAR-VIKING 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Found out what was going on with the saw or I think some how the timing was off.. took the crab and coil off and put on the parts saw I had and it works some good.. was thinking it was the coil because it was miss and back fire at high rpm

    • @afleetcommand

      eBay. Often Huztl for plastic & covers & some cylinders (372BB & 660BB)& a variety of other bits & pieces, but other places as well depending on the saw model and the desired end result. I eBay Meteor brand pistons from dandrikop in Greece for some. Also Devonoshion for stihl screws & other hardware. Have to mention dssjms as well .. just a bunch of places. Also work with a couple of local Husqvarna dealers and have found its hard to beat the Husqvarna OEM price/quality factor for things like Cylinders & cases. Especially for 562's. So it just depends.

      @afleetcommand  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some. I got a batch a logger had in a barn. All covered in Bird Crap. A mess. Deal was If I built 3 runners out of the mess I could have the rest. I built three for him, two for me, and one I sold. Covered the cost of parts. I still have a few things stashed away. But to your question, top ends are still available here both from Husqvarna and a couple of After Market companies. Also bearings and some of the plastic is still available. Top covers are not thought. Point is there is some, just not a complete set of parts from Husqvarna.
