BUT Notre-Dame is surely the sign for France (and for the world?) that we have to rebuild our faith properly. Our heroic firemen saved Notre-Dame who is still standing. So hope is there. A restored Church for a restored faith.

Adam Briceland I don’t see it as an insult. The voices are beautifully on synch and they sing in rhythm, it’s a lot harder than it looks to just start singing together with absolute strangers.

I saw that first clip on Twitter when the fire happened. Brought me to tears. I thought I'd lost that clip forever, until I came across this video, and now I'm crying tears of both mourning and joy at having found it again. Such a unifying moment in time. Sad that it had to be a result of such a devastating tragedy.

Cops have pretty weak guns, so they're not meant to kill people, but that doesn't mean they won't die. Look at what's happening in Minneapolis right now. a guy killed himself in the street and now people are rioting and looting. What for? What is the reason people are burning the city down again? This might be one of the most powerful videos ever recorded. This will only happen once in human history and we all witnessed it. You will never see it again. (I assume when they rebuild the cathedral, they will make it so this doesn’t happen again) Just seeing these complete strangers gather together to praise God as Norte Dame burns. That building is the only one like it. It’s one of the most famous landmarks in not only France, but the entire world. Yet even as they watch their beloved cathedral burn, they praise God regardless. They still sing and pray and love.
It really opens your eyes to see that at the end of the day, the chapel is merely a building. It is the love that makes up the church. We are all different but created by the same God. It isn’t the body, but the spirit that is important.

I was raised Catholic and singing was a big part of Sundays clearly all the people in the video were raised by parents with strong ties to the church I know every religion teaches their children its traditions.
At the end of the day, as absolutely beautiful as the cathedral is, it’s not the church. The people themselves are the church. Even as the cathedral burns, the people praise God. That’s beautiful to me.

I'm a filthy Protestant, but seeing the man on his knees clutching his rosary and singing to his God was quite a moment, I must say. Though we've historically disagreed with the Catholics, the destruction of Notre Dame was a great loss for all Christendom, and was felt by all Christians everywhere.

@@jonyfreston256 We don't worship her, we ask Mary (and all Saints) for intercession to God, look up Hail Mary prayer that prayer is what Archangel Gabriel said to her at the Annunciation ( you can also look up Litany of the Saints). What makes Mary different from the Saints is that she always lived in state of God's grace as she was the only one among all of creation to be able to say her "fiat", by that she can always show us God's way through her intercession.

Why can’t they pray for people who are getting persecuted and killed, I get that it’s a really old building and has history but, it is what it is, it can be rebuilt, it’s just material.
Perhaps they do, you never know.
This particular prayer was a response to what was happening at that moment.
It do have precious things related to christianity and faith.
You do realise that structure lasted for 900 years (rounding up a little) since its construction. It's literally not just "any building that can be rebuilt" it's a piece of French, European if not human history because of how long it has lasted. To put into prospective, it outlasted the byzantine empire (Eastern Roman empire) and much more. The importance of it is tremendously high.
Who told you they are not praying for people. Before judging, i hope you do pray from these people
