  • SHOCKING new footage has emerged which shows a 40ft wall of flames engulfing the 850-year-old Notre Dame.
    The remarkable close-up video was shot by Paris firefighters who were recording their epic battle against the inferno which was rapidly incinerating the cathedral.
    The never-seen-before footage lays bare the sheer intensity of the blaze as it tore through the monument at a terrifying speed, sending enormous flames shooting into the air.
    Previously it was difficult to see the firefighters as they tackled the fire and stopped it from destroying the bell towers.
    They can be seen fearlessly dashing inside which is being ravaged by fire...

    Don't know whether the Notre dame cathedral would be insured or not Because surely It's priceless 850 years of history such a beautiful cathedral .I feel for the French people so sad But the cathedral will be restored and it will rise like the phoenix from the ashes. love from the UK 🇬🇧

      Honestly I never knew Notre Dame was that old. I always thought it was built in the 1900s, 20s, or 30s. But damm Notre Dame was there before Columbus sailed

    I worked many years as a Safety Officer in construction sites. I remender a few big fires produced by smokers dropping cigarette butts while were still ignited. According to my experience, those still ignited cigarettes butts produced fires after hours, slowly smouldering materials around it. I will be not surprised at all if this was what happened. I am not a religious person, but Notre Dame is culture, art, humanity, History. And I loved it when I visited Paris, a few years ago.

    Such an awful thing to have happened, such a beautiful building, so much history etc. But also thanks to this footage you get to realise it isn't such an easy task to tackle for the firemen, I know it's their job but, watching this I wouldn't like to do this, old buildings have so many flammable material etc so it will burn quickly, the heat must be immense so it's harder to get the job done quickly, much respect to all the firefighters involved, 🙏🙌💞

    Can someone tell me why they have metal helmets? Wouldn’t that make the heat worse?

    • @peterpluim7912
      @peterpluim7912 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That’s the F1XF Helmet by MSA Gallet, a high tech piece of equipment. It’s the replacement of the old F1 that had been used for years by French firefighters. It was launched around 2015 if I’m not mistaken. There is a very thin metallic layer on both the helmet and the visor. It reverberates the heat.

    The bald gospel truth is The Paris Fire Brigade is suited to apartment fires, but was wholly and utterly outscaled by this fire. An incompetence of preparation and logistics to support the tactics that would have made a difference. The cathedral was tenable for a LONG LONG time. There was no collapse for an hour. They should have been inside bailing it into the attic. I'm not saying big city American fire departments would have put this out, but they would have tried, and with a little luck they would have put it out.

      @@jean-philippejoblot-geny4366 Je pense que les pompiers américains ont quelque chose de différent: ils sauvent des bâtiments et souvent des personnes piégées. Les attaques agressives sont beaucoup plus efficaces et permettent de sauver des vies et des biens. Le plus souvent, l'eau cause moins de dégâts que l'incendie!

    • @Salena905
      @Salena905 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe they didn't put it out as quickly , as in these old buildings you never know what substances are inside that may be toxic or that the structure of the building itself may have been unstable, wasn't it being repaired ? some substances do not mix well with water when heated . I'm not in the firefighter employment so I wouldn't want to judge their decisions.

      There is not a Fire Department in the world that could have done a better job than the Paris Fire Brigade did considering what they were faced with. In fact, I'd wager that Paris is about the most aggressive Fire Department on the European continent.
      The Paris Fire Brigade was first notified via telephone 30 minutes AFTER the alarm panel first tripped. It was only after it tripped a second time did Notre Dame Security call it in. Unbelievably the alarm annunciator panel *is not connected* to a central station and the Fire Brigade must be notified by telephone!
      Tell me something. As a rule, do church fires generally "go well"? What about lumberyard fires? Well, these guys were faced with an indoor lumberyard fire (un-sprinklered!), stories high, with limited access that had a 30 minute headway.
