Played this game when i was in elementary and didnt know what was going on. Today trying to get into 40k and saw the factions video by that one guy and he talked a lot about how the Taue just dont fit in the dark universe of 40k. I disagree entirely. Every faction short of the Tau went through their history with war, plague, and chaos interrupting their progress as a whole on their respective planets. The Taue is literally a civilization literally untouched and able to progress and advance without any war from the outside and deciding to not war with eachother. This is what you get when you habe unhindered technological advancement and cooperation amongst your planet. Now they are thrown out into the universe of 40k, and sure they don't "fit in", but its because they were the Galapagos island of the universe except untouched long enough to make Gundam lmao. Its a super interesting faction.
This game wasnt bad for the time. But some real missed opportunities like not exploring tau culture etc. It basically makes the game just a generic first person shooter with no depth. Only a warhammer fan will really appreciate this game at all.

This was a great game up to the point where you met up with Space Marines and then it went a little weak but at the time It was one of the first FPS games to have so much action going on in the background. Normally it would just be you and whoever you were shooting at but this game had a fantastic atmosphere.
That last Tau in the opening cinematic was shot in the back with a boltgun. Being hit by a missile that explodes inside your rib cage tends to do more than just knock you off balance.
As a kid growing up, this was one of the FPS's I used to play allot. I didn't care much for the graphics, it was just for the story. Since then, playing the DoW games & the Ultimate Apocalypse mod (not including any of the DoW: 2 games) was as close as I could get to playing as the Tau Empire. For me, the Tau will always be the "good guy" type of faction (or at least the closest to it) in Warhammer 40k. Regardless of the system and how the Ethereals run it or their beef with certain chapters of the Imperium.
What I love about Warhammer is that there is no good faction, every faction is good and bad, rather than that cheesy clear good guy beat obvious villain narrative, even the Chaos have good parts about them. All that exists are some factions that are more good than evil, I also like how humanity are not the automatic good guys, whilst they are fighting for their survival, they are xenophobic thugs abd fanatics, like they say: The Emperor must be a relationship good, 8trillion screaming fanatics can't be wrong.

I don't exactly know, but it is entirely possible that it is not one of tha major ones. Possibly a local Planetary Imperial Guard. Whoever it is, they're VERY disorganized, so I would certainly rule out Cadians, Death Korps and Steel Legion
I remember being a kid, playing this game broke me into the Warhammer 40k universe. I was already a fan of Warhammer, because of the mercenary rts game that came out for ps1, back in the day. My favorite part in this game was when the fire warrior allied with space marines to beat chaos. I wish someone would make a Warhammer 40k shooter like fire warrior. Perhaps, the sequel?
Aidan A You either live in a poluted, overpopulated hive-city or forge world, where you have to work like a slave, live in fear of the Inquisition, who can declare you a heretic whenever they want & ''purge'' you or even exterminatus the whole planet,if they believe that the corruption of Chaos has spread to far.Speaking of Chaos, anytime some Chaos forces can invade your planet and enslave,torture,butt-rape & kill you.Or some Dark Eldars,in that case they will enslave, torture you much more, rape you without any lube and then kill you.Or the Orks invade and lay waste to your planet,at least they don't butt-rape you, which is a plus.Or a Tyranid Hive-Fleet shows up and you get eaten alive by these abominations.Or your planet is a Necron tombworld, which means you get killed by creepy Robot-Skeletons. Either way, you're pretty much fucked beyond human recognition.
doubleP Don't forget. Your own people, the inquisition, will willingly purge entire areas of even innocent people for even KNOWING that Chaos exists. Like you could be hiding in a storage locker somewhere praying to the Emperor to deliver to you to the light and they'll just wipe out the whole area because you even saw a chaos spawn. Speaking of the inquisition, for the particularly nasty chaos taint they have the Ordo Malleus and they use the Grey Knights to take care of the nastiest of foes. Spy a Grey Knight? That's a shot to the head because can't have the rabble knowing that they even exist. 40K really is that grim and that dark.
Not one of the finest moments in 40K gaming, and certainly not for my beloved Tau, but for a PS2 Halo knockoff with Tau skins, it wasn't THAT bad. I enjoyed it for a while and it was cheap so I got what I paid for.
Ok first off this will probably start a spam war, but Tau Pulse rifles.. Hella more powerful, dam things are on par with bolters... They are plasma guns that dont over heat... This game doesn't do any one justice. Also fire warrior Commando what... THis should have been a squad based game like brothers in arms not a fucking fire warrior Rambo.. This dude has already racked up a kill count to make a Space marine proud
Alexei Strife No they are in fact Plasma weapons, when you read the right up for them it states they are advanced plasma weapons, hell the pulse rifle works by magnetically accelerating a Plasma shell down its barrel, they dont do the damage that a Plasma gun does because the plasma gun is basically just firing primitive globs of over heated hydrogen down a barrel. it doesn't have any kind of real restrictions or shit that focuses the weapon..
Belial1125 Honestly, I was mostly going by the WH40K Stat's - Where the Plasma Gun is far more effective of a killing machine. So, I'll just assume you're correct.
The Plasma Gun was slow to fire in Fire Warrior(but was more like an automatic weapon in Space Marine) it is an automatic weapon to be honest(but most Imperials don't fire it full auto for a reason) the Pulse Rifle you're given is akin to an Assault Rifle, and Pulse Carbine is just that, a Carbine, Space Marine chapters are varied, not all sound American, not all sound English, some sound more German(like the Black Templar's) the first weapon you see is a Pulse Rifle though, Plasma Gun is much later, and is more lore friendly than the one in Space Marine(one here can kill a Marine in 1-2 shots one in Space Marine takes like 20 even if completely charged)
Still making no sense here either you or Z100 is... how do they talk to you? because according to you, the "brothers" and "brethren" are the "wrong" ways to speak, if you knew anything about 40K at all, you would know they call each other Battle-Brother, Brother-Sergeant, Brother, Brother-Librarian, Brother-Scout, Brother-Captain.

Ok yes those Tau in the intro should’ve been blown to pieces from those Bolter shots, but my biggest question is why they were bleeding red and not Blue
Imagine how amazing it would be, redone with modern graphics and gameplay mechanics. At least let us get Space Marine 2 Lol. I've heard it was cancelled though.
The No witnesses makes absolutely no sense. I mean, why would Space Marines care if Tau knew they were there? And one look at the injuries of these Tau would clearly indicate that a Botler was used, the iconic Space Marine weapon.
Well, there are some games. DOW or Eternal Crusade for instance. But none where Eldar are a major player. Plus dawn of war Eldar are shit and the Eldar in Dawn of War iii are also shit so that Space marines look cool. it's disappointing, Eldar are pretty cool
+Marcus Langdale Eldar were pretty tough to defeat on higher AI difficulties in DOW 1 and it's expansions. I have no idea what you're talking about. Also, have you not seen any of the gameplay for the Eldar in DOW 3, they seem fine to me.
I just realized that the imperial guard is mostly made up of Death Korps of Krieg, probably because their german inspired designs make them look more like "bad guys"

From the pictures I've seen I always thought the Tau lived in a high technology society like modern day Japan.
hi, i´m a fan of all warhammer games specialy dawn of war, do you know my phto it´s from a eldar? so .i like buy this game how and where can i do it?
A Game where you don't play as the Imperium and you have to kill guardsmen?? H-E-R-E-S-Y
First warhammer game I played when I was young
I've been trying to find this game's music forever, does anybody have it?
Its a shame that we do not have a GOOD Warhammer 40K first person shooter
Ok yes those Tau in the intro should’ve been blown to pieces from those Bolter shots, but my biggest question is why they were bleeding red and not Blue
wouldn't kais have to make 'break tests' due to being the last man left in his squad?
This is a fan made version of Warhammer 40k or this is an actual mission from a game ?
If only there were an ork game like this but BETTA!
I see the player nailed the Tau's lack of ballistic skill.
Correct me if I´m wrong but aren´t some of the human soldiers Cadian Kaskin??
Kasrkin, I meant.
*****
no Kraut got it right
feels like watching a mod for unreal tournament
Why do all portrayals of the Tau that include speech always involve them speaking Low Gothic with an offensively Asian accent?
Imagine how amazing it would be, redone with modern graphics and gameplay mechanics. At least let us get Space Marine 2 Lol. I've heard it was cancelled though.
That chainsaw guy used to scare the shit outta me.
why cant we have more Warhammer Fps's ?
This looks fun! And Tom Baker is always a win!
Lucky I still have my Windows XP computer! Woohoo!
I tried downloading fire warrior from game disc, but my computer was just too high-tech to do so, and it was prehistoric
I haven't played this for over 7 years
The No witnesses makes absolutely no sense. I mean, why would Space Marines care if Tau knew they were there? And one look at the injuries of these Tau would clearly indicate that a Botler was used, the iconic Space Marine weapon.
Can you buy this on steam?
These graphics are pretty damn good for a 2003 game
i wish they make warhammer 40k video games with eldar
Are you an idiot YOU can play as eldar in ALL the dawn of war games
Where the fuck is our current day version of a WH40k FPS?
Shouldn't the taus weapons kill way faster than they do?
Could of sworn IG only had like one Death animation in the Ps 2 version. XD
