Perfect! I use a navigation app on my sailboat and I wanted to set up a big touch screen that I can hook my tablet up to on my chart table and this is a great solution. Thank you very much sir!

This is amazing! I need to try this out. Want like a 32 inch tough screen for at home board games with thr family!

Thank you for this I've been looking to do exactly this. When composing and visualizing large complex mind maps/PKM and the ability to manipulate them with your hands is stunning especially with the maturing voice input features. Offline Google dictation exists on Android and so on Samsung and thus with Dex. Works so well on a Note10 tiny touchscreen that your setup would cause nosebleeds!
Multi-person interactive games like world simulations would be awesome. Truly a way to bring the family together around a computer (laid flat) with a multiperson cooperative game.
I happen to run on a DC system and given that you're running repair shop maybe you can tell me: the tv seems to have an AC power cord as compared to a power brick that plugs into a DC port. The latter is easy on DC. But when the AC to DC transformer is built inside the television do you know if one can break open the television and splice on a DC regulated power supply with a precise voltage after the manufacturer's transformer. Then DC battery->buck (or boost converter)->tv system DC voltage vs DC battery->inverter AC->tv transformer DC. This applies to new DC only homes, RV, boats, off grid homes.

      Regarding a screen running of 12v , I don't know the steps needing to convert a 240v lcd to a 12v display
But I would assume that there would be native 12v touch screen monitors

@@rickstechrepairs I must thank you again for the idea of touchscreen monitor with DeX. I didn't realize such screens were somewhat affordable. Luckily, there was a choice of used monitors including yours. Instead though, I went with a Viewsonic TD2465 24". Extra glass hardness, extra software for palm rejection when writing and it's touted as having more Linux/Android support.
Your application was mostly a monitor with occasional touch. Mine is being used like a huge tablet and I'm creating mind maps. It's just fantastic to see so much. You even start to use the mind's ability to remember things in space since you can put virtual items in different corners rather than just closing them and reopening.
I had an adapter to enable DeX on a regular monitor with HDMI coming from the Samsung Note 10+ USB-C cable. Luckily, that HDMI cable and a regular (non USB-C) cable both plug into the adapter and everything worked out of the box.
There weren't any large touchscreen monitors (other than 15.6" portables) that I could find being manufactured. Given that the computer circuitry uses 12V, 5V, 3.5V or some other low DC, I'll break into an old monitor, test the currents after the AC-DC transformer and then wire in the appropriate DC to bypass the transformer. Test that for a while and then do the same with this monitor.
Again, thanks...it's really game changing to be working with this much touchscreen real estate. Working with touch and voice dictation makes the keyboard feel so antiquated. (Sadly I had to type this with a keyboard due to some weirdness with TH-cam comments).

Thanks a lot for this video. Well done! I was a bit hesitant about whether I should buy Samsung Galaxy View2 17.3 tablet or not. With the setup like yours, I can see that only sky is the limit (I mean the diagonal of the screen, lol). Amazon sells rotatable 32" FullHD Android touchscreen TVs from an unknown brand on a stand with wheel base taken from an office chair for a whooping $1200 and there're some people who actually buy it. Do you know whether your phone can output QHD resolution in s setup like this given that you had a 1440p touchscreen monitor? As far as I know these USB hubs quite often limit HDMI output to 1080p only.

Nice video! I was always curious about this touchscreen monitor.
May I know if input lag/latency is noticeable? I am planning to test this device on rhythm games.

So I got a 50inch touchwo tablet. Running an outdated android 11go on there. I am in search of advice from others like yourself that like modding and experimenting. Do you have any forums or reddit groups or even places where i can get a local to hook up an old phone to this giant tablet monitor instead of its own system?

Hey awesome, i was dontated by a neighbour who i fix computers now and then, a 24? ( not sure but a full screen monitor ) inch Dell Touchscreen, just wondering if you have tried other OS besides Android, I am currently using it under Linux ok with the touch function working but i use the mouse because desktops seem more natural with it, but i may make it a cool loadscreen for a pinball machine background display that u see at the rear of real machines..., have u thought of running Android on the touchscreen without the mobile connection? as this Dell of mine has a computer built in ( not sure if yours has, prob hasnt if you are doing the phone connection thingy ) yeah i want to make a pinball machine as there are fantastic games made by Williams Pinball for the Android, that i am currently playing on my phone and its great on that platform, but would like to try it on the Dell ... that would be perfect for a touchscreen computer if i can figure out how to do it ....
