  • In this video, I show you how to easily use your Android Phone Or Tablet as a Screen for your Raspberry Pi 400 Raspberry Pi 4 Raspberry pi 3 or basically an HDMI enabled device from the Xbox to Nintendo Switch or even a Mini Computer.
This involves perching a cheap USB to HDMI capture card and a USB type C to Female USB cable but in the end, it works great and can come in really handy on the go!

I have Raspberry Pi 4B kit, and Android Samsung S4 tab tablet, you think my macbookpro 2016, usb-c to HDMI adapter should work on S4 tablet--Rpi4B? To use S4 display...?

Set up Teamviewer on both devices and you won't need that much cables, adapters and mouse. Touch screen control will work as well.

I'm absolutely buying this. I love the idea of being able to use the 400 on the go. Edit: the price changed to 13 dollars after this video was put out. Hm. 🤔

I’ve found you can do this with Windows 8+ laptop (and probably any windows device). Plug the pi, hdmi cables and video capture device together and into pc USB 3.0 port after turning on the pi (I used a pi4). Windows will (slowly) recognise the video capture device receiving the pi output as a web cam. Then you can just open the camera app then select “change camera” and your laptop screen displays the pi output.
Having tried official usb camera connect apps, the simple windows built in camera app worked the best!

    Hey ! Great Content !
I have a little situation that I wish you can help me with. I was wondering if you can use an android phone/tablet as an operating system for a laptop. Can you use an android as a bootable device for a laptop. For instance, I have a 2014 Moto X2 with a messed up battery (it suddenly turns off when unplugged from charging) and I also have an old laptop that I wish to use a monitor and a keyboard. I know there is something that may be useful like the experimental desktop mode in Android under the Developer Options. What I basically mean is can you convert and old laptop into something like “Nex Dock 2” ?
    What do you recommend ?
    Thanks in advance.

I didn't consider that this capture card could be used that way. Gonna have to look into this. I'm thinking that this should be possible with any Linux device as well.
I actually already have one of those capture cards already, which I'm using for my DIY ambilight.
