One of the most beautiful songs ever made... I'm 35 yrs old now and remember hearing this record as a child in my grandma's house. It hits differently now when you've been thru some things, are going thru some things, and got over some things... Be optimistic. Believe and keep the faith. God is always within🫶🏾✨️🫶🏾
Enough of the optimistic slogans. Now we need to plan and organize to get shyte done! Time is ticking. Idleness and slowness will get US NOWHERE! Wake your ass up you mighty people! And let's get to work!
I’m Mexican born in 82 trust me the early 90s was amazing i remember that time the shows Martin living single the cosbys and many more was about the power of uplifting the black community and teaching them education and peace the music was something we had Tupac wit his poetry Queen latifah wit her song U.N.I.T.Y and the powerful words of being respected and not being called a bitch EN Vogue telling everyone to free our minds.. and I loved all of that time the days were brighter the afternoons you would see people outside mowing lawns water the plants kids playing hide and seek it was a blast people where more real
My mom would play this song and "Keep On Moving" by Soul 2 Soul all the time when I was growing up. My childhood was rife with positive black images and cultural expression. She kept me grounded to be an upstanding black man so not to fall victim to the stereotypes that the prevailing society promotes of us. This song reminds me of her lessons. I salute her in this song. She's alive and well and I pray that God keeps her healthy and elevated in her consciousness and pride.
Your Mom started you off on a awesome start with powerful uplifting spiritual music around you. I hope you continue to pass it on to your own children and others as well 😁Keep it going !! God most certainly will for your mom ! Remember He answers every prayer 🙏🏽
This song is so special to me …. For so many reasons that I’m unable to list here. So many memories 🥲…..so many dreams. Such an inspiring song. Thank you for such a great song.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽‘keep your head in the sky’🎵🎤❤
This is STILL such an awesome song! Undoubtedly one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITES! Fantastic vocals, a powerfully uplifting message and a killer baseline! I loved it when it was first released in 1991 and I'm still listenin' and lovin' it in 2022!
Celebrating Black History Month-Sounds Of Blackness. (Based out of St. Paul Minnesota, this choir sings practically every genres of music. From jazz and R&B to my favorite, gospel-spirituals. They are awesome you guys.) I know you know this song. Makes me want to dance.
Unfortunately Robert L. Johnson, who created the network, the original Black Owner & Entrepreneur sold BET for billions in 1998. That was & unfortunate day, the end of something entirely for us. He had billions but is now just a millionaire as some of his ventures did not do as well as BET. It was bought by Viacom, now Paramont is the current owner. Many things are stolen from us by others & then we sell off our things for money! Wrong move. It is better to have Ownership! Now others.. not many blacks run the company & have the final decisions on what get aired sadly. A grave mistake which he probably regrets.
I think this would be a great anthem for a school graduation because its telling you that you can do all things just keep your head to the sky, think positive.
3:17 "I know the storms and strife cloud up your outlook on life. Just think ahead and you'll be inspired to reach higher and higher. You will learn to do your best if u learn to say never say never. You maybe down but you're not out.." I feel that every time and get emotional.
I’ve loved the strength and the hope & positive faith of this song since first hearing it. I’m sharing it with younger people, especially in the black community who may not have heard it! You can absolutely win, as long as you keep your head to the sky. Thanks for this beautiful, timeless song & video!
why is this so damn motivational to me?? i feel like the black rocky listening to this. i feel like i can do anything!!! like i can seriously save the children of the world and shit
The lead singer reminds me of patty lebelle, anita baker and aretha franklin all rolled into one, gospel singers never get enough credit for their talent like the secular singers do.
Classic Record thanks that took a lot of carriage to say that even if it’s just a comment on TH-cam because we are the most hated people on the planet so for you to say that god must spoke to your spirit to feel this way about Africa Americans who god chose to be a special people. Thanks bro

Just the looks, colors and sounds of the 90's is EVERYTHING. seems like black people were more cultured back then.....man music was soooo much livelier than this mess that's out now
KG DA yesss black people were more conscious spiritually through their African roots. The white man said no no no let’s take this African consciousnesses music away from them and give them trap music and etc. smh. I sure wish black ppl would wake up on these last days

This is a beautiful song every time I feel down I always come to this song actually the whole CD was a beautiful work of art I recommend anyone to buy the CD it’s a wonderful thing
This song brings back so many memories. I see the place where my sons and I were living. The joy of seeing this video on Christian music video shows resonates through my mind and soul right now 😊.

I was in 4th grade. I'm now 39. This song still brings tears to my eyes!!! I love Sounds of Blackness!!
I first heard this song in house party 2. I heard it again today, and forgot how much I loved the way it made me feel as a child. It's being locked into the rotation.
Remember listening to this in the 90s makes me think of well to do black people not this mess we are in now smh... A different time we need this back dont let this fall on deaf ears
This particular song reminds me of my child hood. It reminds me when we were little children and teens. It just makes me sad because it's like its messaging when we were kids to now. Like time went by. We are adults now and there is a new set of kids and teens out there. I haven't had any kids or finish school so I'm like "as long as u keep your head in the sky" with my dreams and goals still in mind thanks to this song.

I think they called gangster rap that started using foul language and putting black men and women down.
The music changed. The audience changed. And record labels are gone

yes 90s come back this came out in 1991 i remember my dad bought this and use to play this all of the time back in the days
Me too. When the young people listened to the elders and accepted advice.
BET used to play this every day, makes you wonder what ever happened to uplifting, encouraging music?
BET replaced it with derogatory music.
Debra Leevil wants to destroy blek people.
Yes on Video souls back in the days
Unfortunately Robert L. Johnson, who created the network, the original Black Owner & Entrepreneur sold BET for billions in 1998. That was & unfortunate day, the end of something entirely for us.
