I’m 24 and this was one of my moms favorite songs. I was out today and just heard it when I was with her brother. She died last year, this song will always be close to me.
To my big bro R.I.P. I remember you taking me to a party where they played this, it was a hot summer's night and a bbq in a huge garden. This had just been realised. The DJ kept playing the intro for at least ten minutes then saying, "hold on, rewind" playing it over and over again (we played musical statues every time the dj stopped the intro to rewind it again and again). We danced to this tune so hard (after all the dj made it last for almost 20 mins and it was pure record decks at the time). I played in the garden and house until early hours and then you gave me a piggy back home where mom was so vex with you because you kept me out so late- I would give anything to go back there now and this song will always remind me of you

Back to life has always been a quiet anthem in my life. Every time I repair myself after something rigorous or harsh...I will forever recite Back to life and Keep on movin. Rocky himself couldnt have said it any better. True songs.
In all times people could sing. 🙄 My parents and grandparents would not have listen to this song. They would say that I shall liyten to "real music" where people could sing in the good old times. 😂 My grandma maybe would have said "not too bad" but every generation has its heroes. Caron Wheeler killing it as she always did. She doesn't get enough credit for the amount of work she put in before Soul II Soul, working as vocalist for so many British acts, in all genres of music.
as a metal head and punk fan, I sometimes sway away from my the music I like and enjoy gems like this song. this song could be instrumental and still be genius. the piano and the bass in the intro gives me goosebumps.
I like everything from the softest R&B (Jodeci, Mint Condition, Isleys) to the hardest Metal (Chimaira, Slayer, In Flames). Why can't people just like good music, regardless of genre?
Exactly. To me, it's not necessary to label music as this genre or that genre. The only thing that does is help to organize music in a record store. But even then, you could just put artists in alphabetical order...

Back to life has always been a quiet anthem in my life. Every time I repair myself after something rigorous or harsh...I will forever recite Back to life and Keep on movin. Rocky himself couldnt have said it any better. True songs.
Would you like to watch my freestyle dance? It's my first time !
Amen
So god damn true!
Yepp, too much Matrix, too many demons trying to tear us appart.
Everyone who reads this, we don't know each other and probably never will but I wish you all the best in life and all the luck in the world
I wish you the best of life and luck in the world just stay smiling
Back at cha!!
Right back to you . Back to Life. God bless.
Same to you God bless you dear❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks & right back at ya! 😊❤
This was a hell of a group and a hell of a song
32 years and 7 months later... it's still one of the best songs of the 90's
One of the best ever
Released in 1989, almost 2 years before the 90s even started.
@@gustavmeyrink_2.0 if it was released in 89 it had to be eleven months at the most before the 90s ffs
80´s is not the 90´s
Dear lord now I feel old!! Lol
I’m not Ashamed to say I’m a 14 year old who enjoys this song so much!!!!
🙋🏽♂️
ME TOO
👍
Who is the pretty violinist up front in the red pants. She keeps good rythym. This song is great!
Why would you be?👍👊❤❤
A true work of art. A hundred years from now this will still be inexplicably dope!
For real 💃🤩
absolute truth to say the least ❤
Seeing the clip where she explained how she came to writing this masterpiece sends chills through my body.
She's flawless and has a flawless voice too
du siehst richtig geil aus. greetings from germany
these as we all know were some of the best songs made in the mighty 80s!
Hadn't seen the video since I was a kid and I forgot how gorgeous she is 😍
Her daughters not bad either ;-)

Remember when music was great & people could actually sing..............?
Now it's all just Taylor Swift nonsense
Like it was yesterday. Today I couldn’t care less (unless I stumble across something accidentally).
In all times people could sing. 🙄 My parents and grandparents would not have listen to this song. They would say that I shall liyten to "real music" where people could sing in the good old times. 😂 My grandma maybe would have said "not too bad" but every generation has its heroes.
Stop talking like old people that everything was better in the old days. 😂 It was not.
@@harold3165All what you recognize is Taylor Swift because you are not up to date with music anymore. There is a lot more than only her but she is a superstar like Madonna, Bon Jovi, Beatles and so on.
Milli vanilli right?
I will NEVER get tired of this song
Classic
Pesosluv NEVER!!
i know one time i woke up to it and it just made me happy!
Pesosluv same TBH
Its so dam good even after all this time
turn up the headphones and remember those good days!
Soul II Soul were 1989, they defined the year and this was incredible, a true masterpiece. Back to Life started a four week stay at number one in the UK this week exactly 30 years ago. I've got the single and album.
It was a great year, cool music and a great summer of fun i remember it well, the good old days of 1989.
M Eden they didn’t, there was far better bands and artists...
kelly shaw ya my mom was 9 she said it was fun summer movies that year like Ghostbusters II & Batman, Nightmare Elm St:Dream Child
@@JasonVoorhees-wn6co i went to see Batman opening night at the cinema, it was so full people were standing in the aisle's as they had over sold the tickets. I was 18 it was lots of fun back then.
kelly shaw I wish I grew up back then I was born in 2005
This is one of those rare songs that completely takes you back to that year like for real.
Lisa Stansfield does that too...
very true , it's like a time machine .
3rd Gunman. They both exploded onto the charts that same year.
My sister owned on cassette Lisa Stanfield and I had this monster jam.So like could family does.
we shared.
absolutely true!
This song popped into my head randomly today, haven't heard it in FOREVER.
33 years later this song is still so good.
I can't believe it was 33 years ago! I rocked this so hard when I was at Uni, in my 50's now all seems like just a few years ago. Unbelievable.
Its such an awesome song till this day
I had a random popping in my head too
Same
I heard it on some commercial recently.
happy new year
Played this for the kids a few years ago and they both loved the production. We ended up going down a rabbit hole of music from my past. The elder said to the younger, "Mom has great taste in music, eh?" and I swelled with parental pride.
Awesome 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Ditto
My 4 year old daughter likes 80's and 90's Metallica and asks for me to replay their songs after they end. I also swelled w/ pride :)
You do!
I know that’s right ❤️
I NEVER REALIZED WHILE BEING YOUNG THAT THIS WAS A "MASTER'S PIECE".
Master piece, ya I see what the artist was going for here. It's got depth, meaning visually stunning. Superb
Dance floor immediately packed as soon as the first note drops...timeless classic.
Yup!😀😂
YEAH BABY!!!
True that 😃
😫 PLEASE BRING BACK REAL MUSIC LIKE THIS ✊🏾
Please do songs now boring..need more of this 🙏
One of the greatest songs of all times.

Defo most underrated. Iconic 90s RnB

Hot vibe cookin
Facts MY QUEEN.
Tribal Funk! This song trounces anything made in the last twenty years. The innovative rhythmic drum, clap track, and throbbing baseline changed music and still has heads shaking and asking "How!"
The people in this video are the most astonishingly beautiful people I have ever seen. The way they look, move..goddamn.
Right????
YES! Thank you. I can watch this over and over.
I agree. Where and when did we miss that fantastic party at the sunset ???
Laurie Outlaw Beautiful indeed, sexy as F* and fully clothed!
1989 and the 90s music was fantastic no matter what race you were. Everybody loved each other back then.. now the world is screwed
Still loving it in 2019.
Absolutely!
Magic 90s!!!
Still DOPE finna listen to Missing You now.
30 years later
Yessss honey was on my mind!!! Good days.
Forget Taylor Swift, this ladies and gentlemen is what you call real quality music 🎶. Who agrees with me
I agree it's better than Taylor Swift for sure !
FACTS 👍♥️
I
Taylor swift is the biggest phenomenon on how tf she is famous shes so below average 😂
Go England!!
35 days without a drink! This makes me smile. Grateful as hell to be sober.
I hope you're still sober! Congrats. I know the feeling 💕💕💕
I'm in my 11th month it feels great winning that battle each day 🙏
Good job you guys, I'm coming up on a year and a half sober, don't really miss alcohol. Keep it up.
@@jegr3398 Day four again, but I'm here and each time I'm less attached like you would become less attached after each break up with the same toxic partner until one day you're officially done.
Congrats.
This is a masterpiece to this day 2025. Beautiful and powerful.
My Lord, where have the years gone? Still sounds fresh, though!
It's 2021 still enjoying this song for 32 years. Never gets old or played out ever
Talk that talk
I agree with you 💯 brother.
Never gets old

Oh my word this takes me back, dancing the night away. I’m 67 now but boy this makes want to turn back time.😂❤🎉
Back in the 80s and 90s people used to dance so freely and carefree, what a superb song ❣️
used to dance so freely and carefree, How true, how sad, how regrettable...
I still do, you're only here once ✌❤
Yeah
Absolute timeless classic

This song is ahead of its time and timeless at the same time.
Ues
Bang on .
Back in the day . Nothing better ❤
The mixing on this track is pretty amazing, her vocals are font and center and every instrument is given space to breathe. Nothing is drowned out or muddy, just a perfect recording.
I keep wondering if that same pristine quality recording could be achievable without being in a vocal booth..hate the background hiss😣✌🎶❤
Very true

Soul to Soul is the original , set the precedent for upcoming vibes.
Damn..it is 4:30 am and I can't turn this off. I miss this music. What have we become that quality soul/funk is missing from the air waves.
Wow it’s 4:46 am and I’m listening to this good music right now
Everything goes through me anyway 😂
Ikr! Those beautiful days were something else! We all had no idea what we were gonna be missing as you got older! I grew up to these songs too! Miss them and the vibe of culture and society back then. More innocent, spontaneous, open and loving

Yes, it was ahead of its time
True!
I'm only 27 and this right here THIS RIGHT HERE IS my favorite song at the moment. I love 80s music!
Caron Wheeler killing it as she always did. She doesn't get enough credit for the amount of work she put in before Soul II Soul, working as vocalist for so many British acts, in all genres of music.
Agree 👍👍
@@jonnyhartman2441 amen
Yep she sang back vocals for the 1985 hit by British Artist Howard Jones " Things can only get better".
My teenage life was fun because of good music like this....too bad the young people of today missed out on good music like this when it was new.......
Good thing we have TH-cam.

Major facts! 💯
And lyrics that make sense and not saying "nigga" every other word and calling yourself an "artist".
as a metal head and punk fan, I sometimes sway away from my the music I like and enjoy gems like this song. this song could be instrumental and still be genius. the piano and the bass in the intro gives me goosebumps.
elsoda the hook does it for me. I've been saying back to life for my whole life
Why you jocking me? Everyone's just gonna feel sorry for you. I know I do.
Refreshing to hear that... I'm just the same, makes for an interesting record collection.
30 years ago and in 2019 this is still a hit song across the planet, British group soul2soul, love this song
Yeah!
ALTOCIRRUS The spring of 1989 is when i first heard this soul2soul classic album and hit, because of my uncle and Aunt playing this album every weekend id visit there house that entire year, even going into 1990, and in October 22nd of 2019, this remains a great dance record
And I was lucky enough to have been stationed in the UK back then! Never danced so much in my life, before or since!! Love SoulIISoul
MrDinFla1 yea, i was 4years old back in the spring of 1989 when this soul2soul song hit the radio airwaves in the United States, best dance record of that year, all timeless classic album
This will always be a classic. I had this in my Walkman going to the 5th grade.
This song she told in an interview is about her dying and coming back to life and during that time she was so happy and did not want to come back. But was instructed that she had to come back. So this song is is about literally coming back to life and pretty much a song to God.
I was 23yrs old when this came out. It is still my jam. The music from the 80s and early 90s was the best.
