I actually wish when they sold system blue tenors they had a full rim because I HATE the sound of the tenors because of the cut outs, I prefer the Bluecoats sound, tight, dead, high, but still heave the classic sound of tenors. That’s through the Yamaha and Corps Clear tenor heads, but if system blue had the full rim they can achieve the same sound, if not a better sound with the weight advantages

As a quad player the cut out rims don’t help as much as they are hyped up to. That being said dynasty drums have the lowest rims and smallest gap between drums out of all brands i’m aware of. Hitting rims on dynasty drums is a skill issue lol
front refers to the "front ensemble" or pit, which has keyboards and other percussion instruments that don't march. Battery is snare, tenors, basses, and cymbals that march on the field

Matthew de Jesus Cadets have fucking fire beats but they don’t play it as clean as SCV but also the main thing is the Cadets have a less capable front ensemble most of the time
Might be a bit biased but I think scv drumline has always been the best, had the most interesting and impressive book, and had the most sheer talent
