I love the new look so much! I had a white RX350 before and now I have an all black on black RX350 F Sport, the sport look with the grill and the darker rims give it a way cooler look. I am obsessed with it:)
I think this Lexus, in charcoal, looks amazing! My parents bought a 2016 RX in the same color and it looks so good on this car. I think it's the best color for the vehicle and it looks sleek and modern, even though now it's nearly 6 years old at this point, which is hard to imagine
love love love this new look. Bravo Lexus. Love that they had balls to change styling unlike de germans re-runs. The A4 has looked the same for 15 years
I bought this in black with the red interior several weeks ago F sport panoramic roof excellent ride plenty of room I'm 6'2 and I can get people behind me as opposed to my 2014 GS 350! Only a midget can sit directly behind me in that!
I hated the design and then I sat in it and it didn't matter, it is so damn comfortable and the ride is so good, I think buyers will still pick them up by the bucket loads. RX buyers are very loyal, I know many people with two of them and I have a neighbor that even has 4 of them, plus a GX and a GS. As an all around vehicle on the market, it may be the best out there.
Just bought this RX & it's so damn great If I'm in love with my RX 2016 But I bought the standard RX not sport because I didn't like the sport grill design
Sat in one at the Geneva auto show and mightily impressed by the material qualities and the infotainment system wasn't quite as bad as I had heard! Great review Tom
Aggressive and Bold. Looks great especially in this Fsport trim Love that dark grey paint job looks good. This thing has a very Japanese look to it. Not a boring angle anywhere on it.
Good review. It's funny how we refer to BMW and Audi as the competition, when there's no comparison whatsoever when it comes to reliability and build quality. Those brands are beautiful junk.
Tbh, I don't know where Lexus are going with these designs. I like that they're going towards more aggressive styling, but this design isn't sleek or clean. Its funny because all their sedan line-ups are aggressive and clean, and look amazing. They definitely crossed the line with this one.
Does the f sport has roof rack groves? Can i put roof bars on it? Non fsport does come with roof rails but fsport does seema like it has flush rails or no rails. Are there any spots on those flush roof rails to install roof bars?l for roof box cargo?
One thing that Lexus has over all European brands...its Japanese and the reliability of these cars are much better than any others. In addition, maintenance costs are much cheaper. Oh and you won't look like a prick driving it, like many European cars cause
I don't get the criticism of the lines of this car; I get that we all have our personal states and design, to most is very subjective, but to say you don't see where the lines are going, leads one to believe that you have a trained eye for design. If so, what would you say about the works of Frank Gehry; is his work not beautiful and praised?
I've seen quite a few of these new RX driving around town, and they've all been older drivers. Personally I think this RX looks great, but I also can't help but wonder how the design will hold up. Back in 2007 I liked the bold styling Cadillac CTS, as well as the elegant design of the Lexus ES. A decade later the CTS looks cheap and cheesy to me, while the ES still looks great. Lexus got a lot of crap for their conservative designs, but I think it's hard to argue that they don't stand the test of time.
Better presentation in this review than usual. Not so cutesy-cutesy. Thumbs up. I'm also not completely sold on the styling of the car, but it might be growing on me. Still, there's something about having the newest model, so it will definitely continue to sell well.
What people and especially critics don't get is that Lexus knows it's customers. People who want reliability, comfort and luxurious as well as ergonomically correct interiors. Ride comfort is one of the highest virtues of Lexus brand and now, great and sharp looks. Much better than the Spartan ugly German cars.
GLE yes but X5 and ect (I'm assuming you mean Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90) have three rows, putting them in a different class. It's never cut and dried when it comes to segments.
Please do your research properly Tom ... the RX is not comparable to an X3 or a Q5 which are way smaller ... it is the same class as the M class , BMW X5 and a Volvo XC 90...
+Driven Car Reviews But isn't the third row seat an option?Which makes two rows standard. Old RAV4 had optional 3 row seats but that doesn't make it compete with the Pilot or Santa Fe, no?
+HodsBroo Yes it is but for now RX has no option for third row (apparently it will soon, though it remains to be seen if the wheelbase is stretched). RAV4 is significant smaller than than both Pilot and three row Santa Fe (and the new RAV4 has no option for that). At the end of the day, neither the X3 or X5 is a perfect competitor to RX, I just chose X3 because I see it as a closer competitor.

love it, only wish america would allow the dynamic turn indicators like rest of the world. I was deciding between this or the Q5. going for the latter because its much cheaper
I'm mixed on the design although it looks less crazy on this than on its NX sibling. If I was going to buy one, it would be in black to hide some of those weird lines. Otherwise, there are better looking options in my opinion.
+Randall Collins I actually see what the designers were trying to do in the NX, the lines and cuts have more purpose and harmony to me. That said, a woman in my building simply traded in her old RX for a new one and the way she talks about it, I'm pretty sure she didn't notice the big difference. She simply doesn't care what it looks like.
este e um gramde modelo sou e pena nao ter motor disel para competir com outras marcas (BMW x6 _Mercedes GLE_Audi ou o Masarati Levante )espero que os esperto pencen bem
+Yippie Closing the lid (with minimal squishing) is always part of the test, I just don't show it to keep things moving along. There's often an optical illusion plus a lot glass curves outward, providing a little extra space.
This is just pointless. The buyers don't want it to look edgy. Not all cars need to be "dynamic". It doesn't need sport modes either. It's a boring luxury appliance no matter what.
+headcas620 I agree. I expected it to handle like a sport ute when I test drove it. But it doesn't. So I wound up buying a '15 model, which looks the way it drives.
+Samwise Drogod I believe that was built on a body-on-frame chassis, technically making it a truck. The original RX was the JDM Toyota Harrier built on the Camry chassis, making it a crossover. FYI, the first ML I ever saw in person was one that was destroyed by dinosaurs. I was shooting at Universal Studios when they were making Jurassic Park II. The M Class was still not launched but the movie had a few pre-production units for product placement. So there was a beat up ML sitting off set with claw marks. Very cool.
Driven Car Reviews ahh, thanks for the clarification. I was not aware that the original m class not was unibody. That makes sense though since I remember it being pushed as a replacement for the G class.
A top trim Volvo XC60 T6 R design can be had for about $46,000 real world pricing. Better looking, better handling, faster, safer, more comfortable seats, and you don't look like a dweeb driving it.
But the current generation of the Volvo XC 60’s & XC 90’s long term reliability is absolute crap! Sad how a great legacy brand like Volvo has fallen into the BMW & Audi planned obsolescence ethos. Lexus has not taken that route & remains committed to maintaining high quality & long term durability.
+Rick James All I can say is drive one! The bitch has some serious guts...It's "supposedly" governed at 124mph but I've gotten her up to 130mph, effortlessly!
The (over)styling is just so pointless. The lower half looks (and is) completely tacked on. You can't "sport up" something that is this bland, and even if you could it's ridiculous to try.
This is a suburban vehicle. It rarely goes over 45 mph, mostly sits in traffic and coasts well under that. It has always been a feminine design, and my parents' prev gen version was shockingly sloppy handling when I borrowed it for an airport run. It was borderline dangerous it was so soft.
It looks like 15 different people were tasked with shaping various parts and then it was all slapped together with wild lines, curves, creases, angles... Almost like Lexus version of the late 90's/early 00's pontiac body cladding. Whoever is leading Lexus design at the moment apparently doesn't have "clean, fluid, purposeful lines" in his or her vocabulary.
I dont buy Lexus for its design, I buy it because its made to last unlike everything else.
Actually I buy Lexus for both reasons!
I actually quite like the design, its different and futuristic. I drive the older generation rx and cant wait to upgrade!
It’s aged quite nicely. I might get one.
I love the new look so much! I had a white RX350 before and now I have an all black on black RX350 F Sport, the sport look with the grill and the darker rims give it a way cooler look. I am obsessed with it:)
I have a 2020 atomic silver on black, and I absolutely agree with you!
I think this Lexus, in charcoal, looks amazing! My parents bought a 2016 RX in the same color and it looks so good on this car. I think it's the best color for the vehicle and it looks sleek and modern, even though now it's nearly 6 years old at this point, which is hard to imagine
Any major fault all these years? Thinking of getting one, does engine and interior stand the test of time?
love love love this new look.

I'd say the Lexus RX is competing against Audi Q7, BMW X5 & Merc GLE, instead of Q5, X3 and GLC which are competing against the Lexus NX.
Exactly, I didn't understand that in the review at all. It competes against midsized 2 row offerings, not compact luxury.
Just bought this RX & it's so damn great
If I'm in love with my RX 2016
But I bought the standard RX not sport because I didn't like the sport grill design
I agree. The regular RX looks just right. This F Sport tries too hard.
Elegant how does it perform with ice and snow? Thnx
Do you still have it ?
Sat in one at the Geneva auto show and mightily impressed by the material qualities and the infotainment system wasn't quite as bad as I had heard! Great review Tom
i compare lexus rx with bmw x5, not x3
SA13 yes you're correct ... it's bigger in fact
BMW X5 it's not in same segment with RX350,BMW X3 is.All cars have there's competitors in it's segment.Don't compare apples to oranges
@@zeljkoplavsic784 Wrong. The RX is a direct competitor with the BMW X5 or the Mercedes GLE (the former ML), NOT with the X3, Q5 or GLC (former GLK).

Imagine the RX-F with their V8. Would be amazing and work with styling as a mean machine. Lexus listen to me
Great content, Tom. The lighting was on your side that day!
I love the clear colored taillights of the 2004 - 2008 Lexus RX
Aggressive and Bold. Looks great especially in this Fsport trim
Love that dark grey paint job looks good. This thing has a very Japanese look to it. Not a boring angle anywhere on it.
+Toyota4Life Agreed. Very Japanese, much like kanji lettering.
Great Job Tom. I am suprised that they designed this to run on 87. I really like the interior alot. The exterior is not ugly but controversial.
+therealme812 I'm sure it has a lot to do with marketing. Owners don't like coughing up the extra dough for premium fuel to get the power specs.
Good review. It's funny how we refer to BMW and Audi as the competition, when there's no comparison whatsoever when it comes to reliability and build quality. Those brands are beautiful junk.
That’s not true at all.
actually the RX strongest competitor is the cadillac CT5 as its the 2nd in sales to the Lexus.
+justin bouche weirdly the 2016's Lincoln MKX is more expensive than those cars 🤔.
+feduo45465 the Lincoln is nice be honest
This looks so damn good!
4:10 Even the back handle to lift the boot floor is damped!!
Why does Lexus and Mercedes always lack performance but charge for it anyway....
Put me on the "I like the looks" list.
Beautiful narration and excellent video. Thanks.

I would have to go find one to check, so I'm going to have to leave that up to you.
It is actually competing with Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90...
@Huy Thai Xc60 is a smaller class this competes with Gle, X5

I completely agree with how Nissan out with the floating roof first. That pretty much ruined the RX for me since it reminds me of Nissan

+daskriege Age has little to do with design appreciation. That's something you will discover as you grow older, and perhaps wiser.
+daskriege I applause Lexus for finally having its own identity instead of copying others.
+daskriege It is catered to the generation for middle age and above. After all, they are the only one who can afford luxury SUVs.
