In fact yesterday I have left the browser pointing to your comment and consumed inspiration for the day :D Your input is invaluable and we are all here lucky to see so many awesome comments from your side, and I will take the opportunity to once again say - "thank YOU!" I think you are very right about the serial numbers, and it looks like it is not hard to guess the manufacturing date. But indeed - you gotta open the box. What made me a bit happier was the lack of these pink reflections from the lens, and the exposure was somewhat better. And the editing software showed less noise compared to the previous one. I don't know whether SJCAM don't care because they have enough customers, or they are uncertain what to do... To the first statement - I have the feeling they have very tight relationship with TomTop, and possibly produce some of the Andoer cameras/accessories. I cannot prove that however, but if that is true, then they are pretty safe in terms of cash flow :-)

I have now switched to the GoPro Hero 7 Black....My SJCAM SJ8 Pro broke within a couple of months of using it (shut off and wouldn't turn on at all). SJCAM told me to contact the seller which I did who offered to send me a new one...it never arrived. They supposedly sent a second (from Malaysia again) it never arrived again. Then the seller said they would refund me...never happened despite repeated promises. I contacted SJCAM to tell them I wanted to get a replacement and sent them video of the malfunction (like I did to the seller). They erased my help ticket like it never existed...I haven't heard back from them...I'm done with SJCAM...which is sad because I like the SJ7 STAR for cockpit audio when I fly. The only problem I've had with the two SJ7 STAR cameras is that the micro usb port has broken off in both cameras (I superglued a micro usb to usb cable on the second one before it totally broke off so I could keep using it in the plane while charging it at the same time with a USB power supply). The first SJ7 would not record sound after the micro usb port broke (while using the plug in official SJCAM microphone. The GoPro Hero 7 surpasses everything...that's all I'm saying..the only problem is that it's never going to be as cheap as SJCAM. I did all of my video reviewing with the SJ7 and SJ8 but they will be retired soon with GoPro cameras. The hypersmooth technology is what sold me and it is great. I do not have room in the plane to have a gyro. UPDATE: The second help desk ticket was taken down without answer as well...DO NOT BUY SJCAM....or should we leave the J silent and call it SCAM?
Eric, this is all so sad! And so typical behavior by SJCAM concerning faulty units. I often recomment the SJ8 Pro as a good device to buy - but only from places with working return policy and decent warranty. I wish I could help you somehow to bring the justice back. We can at least raise our voice and make more people hear about that!
@@TechMishka I at least wrote it off my taxes but I think I'm on GoPro for life. Went flying in the Cessna yesterday and recorded in 4K ultra smooth even in a bumpy airplane...best camera ever is the GoPro Hero 7 Black...never again with SJCAM

Hi Remi Zik, thank you for your question. With the new module I cannot see that many purple tints and likely SJCAM are using now better glass. Maybe... It is hard to say about batches. Unfortunately they are not visible on the outside of the box, but many of the webstores do write down which month they have received the stock via stamp on the box. I bought the newer one from TomTop and it performs excellent so far. No battery issues, no power issues - all fine. There is a stamp with the date on the bottom of the cam - the newer one I got is from July. the previous one among the first batches.

Well after watching this video, and another 20 like it, I went out and bought me the SJ8 Pro kit. Boy was that a mistake! The camera that I received has a defective speaker straight from the factory and SJCAM support has basically told me touch luck, and are doing nothing to remedy the issue. I've done everything to correct the problem I can think of - checking all the right buttons in the menus, new quality sd-micro mem card, and using the camera without the waterproof case, and although the volume level is turned up to 10, the maximum, I can barely hear any sound with my ear pressed up against the camera's speaker. The videos that I produced with the camera play just fine on my computer, with solid sound, so I know the units microphones are working. But play the same video on the camera and silence. So there you have it...1.) SJCAM has an issue with quality control from their factory and, 2.) SJCAM does not care if the camera works or not once it is sold. Buyer beware!
@@TechMishka Just trying to alert prospective buyers that all is not well in House SCAM. I am certainly not the first to be given the short straw by this company, nor will I be the last, but here's to hoping that some, armed with this message, will see a more fair path towards fulfillment. It is a problem that the speaker doesn't work. It is a fundamental wrong doing that they will not support their products which they sell under an industry standard policy for manufacturing defects, etc. Point being, this company does not stand behind their products as they should. They would rather sacrifice their reputation than do the right thing, believing they are saving money. In reality, they are losing customers, especially repeat customers.

I also believe that especially in times where competition is so tight, for smaller companies it is essential to have ther right level of support - this is why people choose smaller companies... Hey, very nice review. Very honest and useful. Meanwhile i have shortlisted 2 cams, the Akaso v50x and sj8pro. I can get an sj8 pro here in Japan on amazon for 230$ and v50x for 80$. I almost made up my mind for sj8 pro because of better sensor and video quality. But i have 2 questions - is it really that much better to pay 3 times more ? Also i have heard of heating and hanging issues from many people about sj8pro. I believe the hanging issue is solved recently by sjcam. But does the sj8 pro heat up too much ? Please help me decide. I am a little bit confused.
I don't think it is worth paying 3 times more for the SJ8 Pro. If you are going to give that much money - the DJI Osmo Action was discounted to $250 a week ago... And it is so much better. The hanging issue is in my opinion hardware-related. So you either get a device which is fine, or not. I'd choose the V50X.
I want an action cam for airsoft, what do you guys think its better, the pro or the plus, since the pro has better image stabilization i think its the best choice.

As I understood from the video, I could play around with color correction and work it out. I wonder if the company will do something about it in a software update.
There are a few different color modes in the menus, and none of them does the trick. There are also a few light conditions that do make a difference. It is easy to fix it with a more professional video editing software, but ... this is not what we want, right :)? Overall - not too bad. The color is warmer, which most people like seeing.
Yes, I also noticed the BIG difference between my first SJ8 Pro and this one. You may check the initial SJ8 review where things are not that great. Also - on that island I had the absolutely perfect exposure conditions, and that also helps. But - yeah - right now the quality of the Pro is up to par with GoPro Hero 7 (almost).
@@TechMishka But how is it's picture quality compared to the SJ7 star ? When I checked comparison reviews online , the video quality didn't show much difference between the Sj7 and Sj8 Pro. But there was more clarity and depth in the Hero 7 compared to the SJ8 Pro. Am i correct ?
@@StanDaManReviews The difference is not that huge, but there are some apparent differences. The SJ8 uses aspheric lenses and this reduces a bit more the fisheye effect. It also records stereo sound. And maybe the biggest advantage is the stabilization in 4K shooting - you have the chance to crop and still produce an awesome video that you can downsize to 1080p. To me "user experience" is also very important and the navigation on the Pro feels way better than SJ7. But both cams are very good. If price doesn't matter - get the SJ8.
@@TechMishka There is also another important thing I wanted to ask you. Another reviewer while comparing had noted a very important point. That is in 1080P 60 FPS the bit rate was much lower at 18 kbps so the video quality is much lower in 1080P which is what most users I think would use, even me. I use mostly 720P or 1080P only and I think bit rates are lower in these 2. But 4K has 60 kbps bitrate so video quality is a lot better here. However this is inconvenient for most youtubers since post processing of 4K takes time and space too. Kindly please confirm to me this one point as well. The price difference is not much, SJ8 Pro's price has dropped drastically and I think in another 2 month's it will drop further. I may get it if it's video quality is good at 720p and 1080P then.
Its video quality is good in both 1080p and 720p. The bitrate is quite an interesting topic. Sometimes these values are artificially pumped-up on a software level - we have seen devices giving 100Mbps in 4K and the quality is worse than cameras that record with 40Mbps. For 1080p 30fps good bitrates are between 9 and 12Mbps, meaning that 1080p 60fps sounds as not too bad. It also is important to figure out whether it is in h.264 or h.265 coding. 4K is usually 4x1080p, so I believe the values are ok, especially if you like the quality. Today I've seen the yi 4K plus for 170EUR in the german Amazon and at that price. Just saying :-)

It was through them that I came to the conclusion that it is not worth the difference of values between the SJ8 Pro and Firelfy 8SE for bringing almost the same quality to someone who is not professional in editing videos. Could you help me with a question? In the Chinese market there are only domes for Go Pros and SJcam and would love to use the Firefly 8SE. Could you tell me if the Firefly 8SE is compatible with the waterproof case of any of these? (Go Pro 3/4/5/6 or SJ6 / 7). Sorry for my English. Another subscriber.
Hi Bernardo, I am glad to see you subscribed and let's see if that info will help: The SJ8 Pro and Firefly are of course different. Biggest benefit of SJCAM's camera is the stabilization at 4K, which is really good. FireFly 8SE doesn't have stabilization at 4K at all, however it can stabilize 1080p in both 30 and 60FPS, which right now is the more popular format - smartphones, most of the TVs, laptops, monitors and so on - they are all 1080p. So if that resolution suits you, the image quality is quite good. The 8SE arrives with a waterproof case, you don't have to search for one. I can confirm that it is NOT compatible with SJCAM's waterproof cases or GoPro Hero 5,6,7. Possibly has the same factor as Hero 4. But - again - there is a waterproof case in the package :-)
Thank you for your attention! When you can do the tests, be sure to let me know. Just pick up the Firefly 8SE camera and try to fit it into the waterproof case of Go Pros and SjCAM, and see if it's compatible with any of them. So I could use this dome for GO Pro / SJCAM on Firefly: bit.ly/2NFasKl
Like said - I can confirm it does NOT fit into SJCAms waterproof cases. As for the older gopro cases - I cannot say as I have none of them. The dome should be fine :-)

How is the video quality in 1080p and what about the ease of use of footage stored on the card.. Like if any old person has to use it then is it usable? (read user friendly) and what about current bitrate of different resolutions!!
The 1080p quality is good for both, and bitrate is comparable for both. And it is quite user friendly - a serious step up from SJ7. And it is getting closer to GoPro's firmware.
Suhen, it quite a lot depends on whether you need stabilization in 4K or not. The SJ8 Pro is quite a good model lately, if you happen to get a unit without issues. The first batches had quite many freezing problems and now seem to be fine.
It is indeed among the most beautiful places I've ever been. And There's also a lot of drone footage I should sometime add and upload :-) A Greek island called Anonissos.
I will usually prefer any other camera than SJCAM. Personal feeling - and I often call them SJSCAM :-) But it is fair to be professional and accurate in the reviews, because a lot of people are watching them and they deserve that. But with their current business attitude - I will not buy an SJCAM product myself.

This is just personal opinion. I am testing in the last days the Hero 7 and it is good. If you get a second hand gopro Hero 6 - it is almost as good as the 7 Black. The Hero 5 is also a wonderful camera and its price is more tempting, but it doesn't stabilize 4K. yi 4k PLus is also awesome. So are the FireFly 8SE and Akaso v50 Pro.
The unit that was giving me hard time was one of the very early units. The one that worked fine is something I bought at the end of the summer from Tomtop and worked fine.
@@TechMishka I understand. I see the Pro version on Bangood for 140% a lot of times and want to buy one but afraid getting the early unit.. Contacted them to try to check the batch but no luck they just won't respond back about it.
@@DimMVK I don't think these large stores can actually check that easily - and most of the time that should be fine, as they probably sell a lot of them. If you trust their refund policy - it is worth trying.

Quick Firefly audio note ..... it’s fine with its own mic that they supply, but doesn’t work with adapters in order to use other mics. Great pity because it would be a great camera if it did!!
You get sound mixed in with interference. I think it's the processor that causes the noise .... a bit like computer artefacts. Not great. I'm hoping that Hawkeye design a correctly wired lead for it since that might well be the problem. It's wired as a mono plug while the adapters are stereo so something isn't quite right!!!
Sounds like the same issue. What is annoying is that I reported it back and there’s still no fix but there is a newer Firefly on the way. Hawkeye claim it is the wiring of the patch leads, but as it is, it’s not really useable with external mics other than their own lavalier which isn’t brilliant.
Hi Jeroen - the best for FPV is the Firefly 8SE - firefly are focused on making drone-friendly cameras and most of their engineering staff are flying racing drones.
I have been looking to buy an SJCAM but it sounds like nothing but problems. The camera not freezing on you something to celebrate is what I get from your video. That's what others are saying too on the forums. I'll just go with a cheap Eken H9 until I've got funds to get a GoPro it seems.
If you do not need 4K at 60 FPS, I believe both SJ8s will give you better results in comparable situations. Out of these - the SJ8 Pro is better, but keep in mind that there are some units which are not right and freeze a lot.

I have now a new one and it shows none of the sympthoms. No crashes, no power issue, no complications with higher FPS. If that helps - mine is manufactured in July. Guess the newer are better.

i want to buy sj8 plus but i saw in your video that the colour difference is so huge between them. sj8 pro is much more better. Also i knew that sj8 plus has ex microphone, but you said the opposite in your video, you sure about that ?
There is a way to make a custom connector. But honestly - with the hardware inside the camera, the sound won't be that good, even with a much better mic. Think about Zoom H1 or similar audio recorder + Lav Mic - it will be more expensive, but you will be camera-independent and you will only have to mix that in post-production, which is usually easy.

The second edition that I god was fine and no freezes occurred. The manufactury date was July 2018. The previous one was freezing quite often. The SJ8 Pro and Plus can both stabilize 4K, while the Mijia 4K cannot. But is still hell of a great camera.
I looked through 10 minutes and you never show the footage from each camera of the same scene one after the other. This makes it a massive pain to try and get a comparison of the quality!
Well - these scenes are shown side-by-side - what can be better than that :)? P.S. Point taken - will try to include that when possible. I try to be careful with timing. Also - at the start - the scene is the same and it switches between the cameras.

Intersting video BUT I just tried the Movavi Video editor Software in a trial version. Holy Moly: Long time since I used such a bad software which is at the same time so annoying! 7 days trail for such a nobody software is not what I would expect. Permanently advertisement for full version including Watermark. Better save your time and use a professional software like blackmagic davinci resolve - more complicated at first - but so what you have more time than 7 days. actually unlimited time, as there is a free version with most important features!
Yup - more and more people seem to switch to DaVinci resolve. Interesting combination of features that we sometimes have to split between Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
@@TechMishka dude you scared me. Already purchased sj8 plus (still waiting its arrival) and for my use is very important the external mic. I looked about it, and it should work. I choose it because price and is better in every aspect than my current sj6 legend. I would like pro, but it's a bit expensive and I don't really need the 60 fps at 4k and extra 3 axis for stabilization, but the higher bitrate is a good plus. Anyway if its price drops even lower...
Ooops! Didn't mean to scare you :-) Did you purchase an external mic together with it? As only the SJCAM one works... Or at least they say that's the case. The SJ8 Plus is good enough and extremely capable camera. As you can see from the comparison, the stabilization is not that different and is kind of up-to-par with the pro :-)

Trash, they changed the lineup yet again, did you not see you pink lips? They want $180 for a white sj8k, I got poor color, WiFi does not connect, memory card in horrible position as WiFi does not connect, 3 minute video dented the battery one bar, damn shame I have a 7 year old sj4000 and it’s wayyyy better on colors etc. and my hero 3+ a $65 used camera absolutely clown on these.

I don't have a comparison. The SJ8 Pro has better hardware, so should be delivering better results.
I have now switched to the GoPro Hero 7 Black....My SJCAM SJ8 Pro broke within a couple of months of using it (shut off and wouldn't turn on at all). SJCAM told me to contact the seller which I did who offered to send me a new one...it never arrived. They supposedly sent a second (from Malaysia again) it never arrived again. Then the seller said they would refund me...never happened despite repeated promises. I contacted SJCAM to tell them I wanted to get a replacement and sent them video of the malfunction (like I did to the seller). They erased my help ticket like it never existed...I haven't heard back from them...I'm done with SJCAM...which is sad because I like the SJ7 STAR for cockpit audio when I fly. The only problem I've had with the two SJ7 STAR cameras is that the micro usb port has broken off in both cameras (I superglued a micro usb to usb cable on the second one before it totally broke off so I could keep using it in the plane while charging it at the same time with a USB power supply). The first SJ7 would not record sound after the micro usb port broke (while using the plug in official SJCAM microphone. The GoPro Hero 7 surpasses everything...that's all I'm saying..the only problem is that it's never going to be as cheap as SJCAM. I did all of my video reviewing with the SJ7 and SJ8 but they will be retired soon with GoPro cameras. The hypersmooth technology is what sold me and it is great. I do not have room in the plane to have a gyro.
UPDATE: The second help desk ticket was taken down without answer as well...DO NOT BUY SJCAM....or should we leave the J silent and call it SCAM?
Eric, this is all so sad! And so typical behavior by SJCAM concerning faulty units. I often recomment the SJ8 Pro as a good device to buy - but only from places with working return policy and decent warranty.
I wish I could help you somehow to bring the justice back. We can at least raise our voice and make more people hear about that!

With the new module I cannot see that many purple tints and likely SJCAM are using now better glass. Maybe...
It is hard to say about batches. Unfortunately they are not visible on the outside of the box, but many of the webstores do write down which month they have received the stock via stamp on the box.
I bought the newer one from TomTop and it performs excellent so far. No battery issues, no power issues - all fine.
There is a stamp with the date on the bottom of the cam - the newer one I got is from July. the previous one among the first batches.

Overall - the SJ8 Pro uses newer chipset, has better screen, better touch screen and way better stabilization which works in 4K as well.
Well after watching this video, and another 20 like it, I went out and bought me the SJ8 Pro kit. Boy was that a mistake! The camera that I received has a defective speaker straight from the factory and SJCAM support has basically told me touch luck, and are doing nothing to remedy the issue. I've done everything to correct the problem I can think of - checking all the right buttons in the menus, new quality sd-micro mem card, and using the camera without the waterproof case, and although the volume level is turned up to 10, the maximum, I can barely hear any sound with my ear pressed up against the camera's speaker. The videos that I produced with the camera play just fine on my computer, with solid sound, so I know the units microphones are working. But play the same video on the camera and silence.
So there you have it...1.) SJCAM has an issue with quality control from their factory and, 2.) SJCAM does not care if the camera works or not once it is sold. Buyer beware!

@@TechMishka Just trying to alert prospective buyers that all is not well in House SCAM. I am certainly not the first to be given the short straw by this company, nor will I be the last, but here's to hoping that some, armed with this message, will see a more fair path towards fulfillment. It is a problem that the speaker doesn't work. It is a fundamental wrong doing that they will not support their products which they sell under an industry standard policy for manufacturing defects, etc.
Point being, this company does not stand behind their products as they should. They would rather sacrifice their reputation than do the right thing, believing they are saving money. In reality, they are losing customers, especially repeat customers.

I also believe that especially in times where competition is so tight, for smaller companies it is essential to have ther right level of support - this is why people choose smaller companies...

Hey, very nice review. Very honest and useful. Meanwhile i have shortlisted 2 cams, the Akaso v50x and sj8pro. I can get an sj8 pro here in Japan on amazon for 230$ and v50x for 80$. I almost made up my mind for sj8 pro because of better sensor and video quality. But i have 2 questions - is it really that much better to pay 3 times more ? Also i have heard of heating and hanging issues from many people about sj8pro. I believe the hanging issue is solved recently by sjcam. But does the sj8 pro heat up too much ? Please help me decide. I am a little bit confused.
I don't think it is worth paying 3 times more for the SJ8 Pro. If you are going to give that much money - the DJI Osmo Action was discounted to $250 a week ago... And it is so much better.
The hanging issue is in my opinion hardware-related. So you either get a device which is fine, or not.
I'd choose the V50X.

Great video! I've been waiting for something like this, so thank you very much. Is it possible to correct that reddish tone in the sj8 plus? As I understood from the video, I could play around with color correction and work it out. I wonder if the company will do something about it in a software update.
There are a few different color modes in the menus, and none of them does the trick. There are also a few light conditions that do make a difference.
It is easy to fix it with a more professional video editing software, but ... this is not what we want, right :)?
Overall - not too bad. The color is warmer, which most people like seeing.

Yes, I also noticed the BIG difference between my first SJ8 Pro and this one. You may check the initial SJ8 review where things are not that great.
Also - on that island I had the absolutely perfect exposure conditions, and that also helps. But - yeah - right now the quality of the Pro is up to par with GoPro Hero 7 (almost).

@@StanDaManReviews The difference is not that huge, but there are some apparent differences. The SJ8 uses aspheric lenses and this reduces a bit more the fisheye effect. It also records stereo sound. And maybe the biggest advantage is the stabilization in 4K shooting - you have the chance to crop and still produce an awesome video that you can downsize to 1080p.
To me "user experience" is also very important and the navigation on the Pro feels way better than SJ7. But both cams are very good. If price doesn't matter - get the SJ8.
@@TechMishka There is also another important thing I wanted to ask you. Another reviewer while comparing had noted a very important point. That is in 1080P 60 FPS the bit rate was much lower at 18 kbps so the video quality is much lower in 1080P which is what most users I think would use, even me. I use mostly 720P or 1080P only and I think bit rates are lower in these 2. But 4K has 60 kbps bitrate so video quality is a lot better here. However this is inconvenient for most youtubers since post processing of 4K takes time and space too.
Kindly please confirm to me this one point as well. The price difference is not much, SJ8 Pro's price has dropped drastically and I think in another 2 month's it will drop further. I may get it if it's video quality is good at 720p and 1080P then.
Its video quality is good in both 1080p and 720p.
The bitrate is quite an interesting topic. Sometimes these values are artificially pumped-up on a software level - we have seen devices giving 100Mbps in 4K and the quality is worse than cameras that record with 40Mbps.
For 1080p 30fps good bitrates are between 9 and 12Mbps, meaning that 1080p 60fps sounds as not too bad. It also is important to figure out whether it is in h.264 or h.265 coding.
4K is usually 4x1080p, so I believe the values are ok, especially if you like the quality.
Today I've seen the yi 4K plus for 170EUR in the german Amazon and at that price. Just saying :-)

The SJ8 Pro and Firefly are of course different. Biggest benefit of SJCAM's camera is the stabilization at 4K, which is really good. FireFly 8SE doesn't have stabilization at 4K at all, however it can stabilize 1080p in both 30 and 60FPS, which right now is the more popular format - smartphones, most of the TVs, laptops, monitors and so on - they are all 1080p. So if that resolution suits you, the image quality is quite good.
The 8SE arrives with a waterproof case, you don't have to search for one. I can confirm that it is NOT compatible with SJCAM's waterproof cases or GoPro Hero 5,6,7. Possibly has the same factor as Hero 4. But - again - there is a waterproof case in the package :-)

Just pick up the Firefly 8SE camera and try to fit it into the waterproof case of Go Pros and SjCAM, and see if it's compatible with any of them.

How is the video quality in 1080p and what about the ease of use of footage stored on the card.. Like if any old person has to use it then is it usable? (read user friendly) and what about current bitrate of different resolutions!!
The 1080p quality is good for both, and bitrate is comparable for both.
And it is quite user friendly - a serious step up from SJ7. And it is getting closer to GoPro's firmware.

Suhen, it quite a lot depends on whether you need stabilization in 4K or not. The SJ8 Pro is quite a good model lately, if you happen to get a unit without issues. The first batches had quite many freezing problems and now seem to be fine.

I will usually prefer any other camera than SJCAM. Personal feeling - and I often call them SJSCAM :-) But it is fair to be professional and accurate in the reviews, because a lot of people are watching them and they deserve that. But with their current business attitude - I will not buy an SJCAM product myself.

This is just personal opinion.
I am testing in the last days the Hero 7 and it is good. If you get a second hand gopro Hero 6 - it is almost as good as the 7 Black.
The Hero 5 is also a wonderful camera and its price is more tempting, but it doesn't stabilize 4K.
yi 4k PLus is also awesome. So are the FireFly 8SE and Akaso v50 Pro.

The unit that was giving me hard time was one of the very early units. The one that worked fine is something I bought at the end of the summer from Tomtop and worked fine.

Quick Firefly audio note ..... it’s fine with its own mic that they supply, but doesn’t work with adapters in order to use other mics. Great pity because it would be a great camera if it did!!

You get sound mixed in with interference. I think it's the processor that causes the noise .... a bit like computer artefacts. Not great. I'm hoping that Hawkeye design a correctly wired lead for it since that might well be the problem. It's wired as a mono plug while the adapters are stereo so something isn't quite right!!!
Right! There was something similar with the 8S - there was a weird digital distortion ocuring every 2-3 seconds.
Sounds like the same issue. What is annoying is that I reported it back and there’s still no fix but there is a newer Firefly on the way. Hawkeye claim it is the wiring of the patch leads, but as it is, it’s not really useable with external mics other than their own lavalier which isn’t brilliant.

Hi Jeroen - the best for FPV is the Firefly 8SE - firefly are focused on making drone-friendly cameras and most of their engineering staff are flying racing drones.

I have been looking to buy an SJCAM but it sounds like nothing but problems. The camera not freezing on you something to celebrate is what I get from your video. That's what others are saying too on the forums. I'll just go with a cheap Eken H9 until I've got funds to get a GoPro it seems.

If you do not need 4K at 60 FPS, I believe both SJ8s will give you better results in comparable situations. Out of these - the SJ8 Pro is better, but keep in mind that there are some units which are not right and freeze a lot.
Hey i am planning to buy SJCAM SJ8 Pro version cos it says it has 1080p 120fps and 720p 240fps... i saw your Pro review and you mentioned it crashed alot when shot at 1080p 120fps and had some power issues. so can you confirm if it still exists or was it a faulty item you got ??

I have now a new one and it shows none of the sympthoms. No crashes, no power issue, no complications with higher FPS. If that helps - mine is manufactured in July. Guess the newer are better.

I cant find an external microfone for the sj8Pro. I know that they do their own, but i dont like theirs sound quality. Can someone tell me one?
There is a way to make a custom connector. But honestly - with the hardware inside the camera, the sound won't be that good, even with a much better mic. Think about Zoom H1 or similar audio recorder + Lav Mic - it will be more expensive, but you will be camera-independent and you will only have to mix that in post-production, which is usually easy.
Finally Ordered Sjcam Sj8 Pro for $145 but got Pink 😫 (haven't Received Yet). What You think sir, is it Good For 2019 with the price i got it for?

You can try making a custom connector for that microphone, or just use and external recorder.

The second edition that I god was fine and no freezes occurred. The manufactury date was July 2018. The previous one was freezing quite often. The SJ8 Pro and Plus can both stabilize 4K, while the Mijia 4K cannot. But is still hell of a great camera.
I looked through 10 minutes and you never show the footage from each camera of the same scene one after the other. This makes it a massive pain to try and get a comparison of the quality!
Well - these scenes are shown side-by-side - what can be better than that :)?
P.S. Point taken - will try to include that when possible. I try to be careful with timing. Also - at the start - the scene is the same and it switches between the cameras.

GoPro Hero 4 is archaic compared to the SJ8 - the SJCAM will certainly be significantly better.

Intersting video BUT I just tried the Movavi Video editor Software in a trial version. Holy Moly: Long time since I used such a bad software which is at the same time so annoying! 7 days trail for such a nobody software is not what I would expect. Permanently advertisement for full version including Watermark.
Better save your time and use a professional software like blackmagic davinci resolve - more complicated at first - but so what you have more time than 7 days.

Yup - more and more people seem to switch to DaVinci resolve. Interesting combination of features that we sometimes have to split between Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Wait wait wait... You can't use the external mic on sj8 plus???? Really??????
I had none of theirs to test it, but on theory the plus should support one too. It has no controls via the menus like it is in SJ8 Pro.
@@TechMishka dude you scared me. Already purchased sj8 plus (still waiting its arrival) and for my use is very important the external mic. I looked about it, and it should work.
I choose it because price and is better in every aspect than my current sj6 legend. I would like pro, but it's a bit expensive and I don't really need the 60 fps at 4k and extra 3 axis for stabilization, but the higher bitrate is a good plus. Anyway if its price drops even lower...

Did you purchase an external mic together with it? As only the SJCAM one works... Or at least they say that's the case.
The SJ8 Plus is good enough and extremely capable camera. As you can see from the comparison, the stabilization is not that different and is kind of up-to-par with the pro :-)

Indeed, the red curve is a bit higher, and I expect that a firmware update may apply some corrections to that - shouldn't be that hard...

Trash, they changed the lineup yet again, did you not see you pink lips? They want $180 for a white sj8k, I got poor color, WiFi does not connect, memory card in horrible position as WiFi does not connect, 3 minute video dented the battery one bar, damn shame I have a 7 year old sj4000 and it’s wayyyy better on colors etc. and my hero 3+ a $65 used camera absolutely clown on these.
