This beautiful hollow form is sold, thanks for all you’re interest in this beauty!
That was fast!
Dang it I'm late to the party. 😎 So glad it sold quick for you!
I wondered whether you were gonna keep it. 😂 And although I’m glad you got it sold and “put some money in your pocket,” like many others, I too had planned on asking. I’d have to spend some time saving my shekels anyway, but … gosh it’s gorgeous!!
I don't comment on videos but I just had to here...I was looking for something to get my mind off all the crazy in the world today and i seen this home video of someone with crappy wood making sales of no talent for thumbs and views making money from youtube. I'm sorry for my attitude but like I said the world has gone crazy and I'm tired! Well I watched and you do the most amazing job out of what I would call fire wood so I went to your video page and watched 7 more and you blew my mind and lifted my spirits. Hello, my name is Tena and I am your forever fan now as long as you post...I subscribed and will share I hope you see this!!!
@@joeytena3 You won’t be disappointed! Jim’s talent and artistic eye are amazing. What he creates is worth every penny of what he sells it for. Sit back and enjoy!!!
the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.
I don’t know about 10, but the only four that you need to know is push, pull, shear and scrap, thanks!
I find it sorta funny that I started watching Jim's videos to relax. Now they're real nail bitters. 😅 So glad Jim stuck it out with this project. Really gorgeous! 🤗
Lol, thanks 😊
Well Well Well. FINALLY. The true mark of an artist is trying new things and..despite achieving blue with no hint of gold. TWICE. Trying again. Congratulations. Beautiful
Thanks 😊
I don't have anywhere near the creativity you do and after watching many many of your videos I do not question your choices because you have not created anything that I have not absolutely loved. I just sit back and watch you work your magic 🎩
Thank you very much!
I've watched your prior peacock hollowform videos, and I was so happy that this time you managed to get just the right mix of temperature and time to make the resin combine beautifully without losing the colors completely. The final result is so stunning! This really is one of the loveliest resin pieces I've seen (from you or anyone else). Bravo!
Wonderful! Thank you very much!
Agreed! Same sentiment here
Okay, that is a gorgeous peacock interpretation. I don't know if I've seen anyone get as good of a representation as that in any medium outside of straight paint. That combo with the wood makes it look almost like a weird planet in some regards, if it was a globe. I love that.
Thank you very much!
I think Jim should have kept this one for a little while and had it on display in an art gallery with some of his other brilliant pieces he’s made.
AND, entered his artwork in a Contest to win $250,000 so he can buy more:
Designer Epoxy
Epoxy is so expensive. I have several gallons and some smaller sized UV epoxy (haven’t tried that yet). I make home decor and jewelry ( resin and lots and lots of beads that I have made over the past 6+ years. My inventory is out of control and I need to get rid of it (sell it)!!! And, I need to sell most of it so I can start woodturning!!
Designer Epoxy
My dad taught me some stuff about building furniture out of wood he even made my baby cradle for my children and my son’s children I so appreciate any woodworking!!!!
Thanks 😊
I'm glad you showed the rookie move, goes to show that even experienced turners slip every once in a while. Love the final hollow form!!!!
We’re human too, lol. Thanks for watching!
That’s so much ice cream!!
Went for coffee yesterday in one of those artisan places. And they had coffee tables that had been made with resin inlays. The inlays were all yellowed - and I was talking to my friends about it and it hit me just how much I’ve learned from you (and people like you!)
So thank you for that!
And congratulations on getting the piece more like the way you wanted it! Looks beautiful!
No matter what the epoxy eventually it yellows. This is why I tend to color my resin pieces. You don’t have theses issues when it’s colored, I bet these tables were in the sun and the epoxy didn’t have UV inhibitors in it like DE. Thanks for watching
gassed again with the art form and appeal of this piece. The Designer Epoxy is getting better and better.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks
Another beautiful masterpiece by the very talented Jim Sprague.
Many thanks!
I figured I'd wait until the end pictures to leave a comment, but I shouldn't have because the close ups blew my mind. I can't even begin to say how awesome it turned out.
It really reminds me of the glass lampshades you see on Antiques Roadshow made by Tiffany. Stunning.
Thank you very much!
You're right, this does look like those Tiffany lamps! Lol
Nice observation, you're absolutely right about the Tiffany lamps!
I agree that this is the best piece you've ever made. The way that the colors swirled together and the way the shape complimented the colors was magnificent. Great project all around 👍.
Thank you so much!
Designer Epoxy
That's the kind of work that stars in career retrospectives. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Another thing I like and appreciate about your content is this. You show your mistakes. You show how to adapt and overcome the obstacles of wood turning. Great education for me.
I appreciate that! Thanks
Another really nice project Jim. It looks like seeing the earth from outer space. I like the colours. And yes, it is one of your nicest pieces so far. Take care and stay WARM.
Thanks, you too!
An absolutely stunning achievement. I'm glad you didn't give up on it. I also am grateful for the details of this epoxy adventure. I have been preparing a series of tests for just this circumstance where there needs to be a balance between deep pour and separation. I will be trying this myself.
Thank you! Cheers!
Good luck!
You really got the peacock colors here by allowing the colors to thicken before you poured them in individually. Very beautiful!
Thank you so much!
I actually love your editing comments “more coffee needed” Such a genuine decent guy apart from being a resin-bowl, wood-turning master! Hats off to you Jim 🫡
Thank you very much!
This is where we can all appreciate your artistic vision and your determination to achieve it. Your other attempts were quite beautiful. But you kept trying for more. This one is gorgeous and beyond any expections. I may love this one best but totally loved your process of getting there the most.
Thank you very much!
I'm so glad that you've finally cracked the code on this! This is just the most stunningly beautiful piece I've ever seen! Thanks for another great video!
Wow, thank you!
The coloring turned out beautiful. Almost like mother of pearl.
Thanks 😊
It seems like every week you create some even more special. Glad to see you conquered the peacock curse.
Thank you very much!
This piece is definitely in my top three!! I love how it resembles the earth from outer space!! Beautiful work Jim, 3.0 is number 1!!!
Thank you very much!
Oooh Jim, that peacock hollow form turned brilliantly. The colours are just fabulous.
Thank you so much 😀
At the 26 minute mark, my vote was to preserve the blue resin lip!!! Wonderful imaginative persistence!!!
Thank you very much
Jim, OMG, you found the Holy Grail in this one! All that practice paid off, and even they were gorgeous. The burl has lovely figuring. The resin is outstanding. It is purrfect!
Wow, thank you!
Amazing! Not only a perfect peacock hollowform, but a pretty darned good approximation of Van Gogh's Starry Night 🌃 Love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
Amen! And I agree with the “Starry Starry Night” analogy! It’s SO beautiful! What an amazing piece this is! So much time, some frustration, but you ALWAYS find a way and every piece is unique and so beautiful!
This turned out so well! I'm really glad you found the solution to getting the colors to remain distinct.
I love the bold, rich colors you use in your resin, but I also find I'm very fond of the semkitransparent or translucent resin like in "Emerald Green Resin and Maple Burl." Mostly because I love the structure of the burl, and being able to see it is fascinating to me.
Got it, thanks for watching!
Peacock Hollow Form 3.0 for the win! Great job, Jim!
Jim this piece is so spectacular! It should be in a museum so that it can be enjoyed by many! Congratulations on such a beautiful creation!
Thank you very much!
I’m running out of adjectives to describe your expertise and that hollow form is exquisite. It was interesting when I got a catch with my first attempt at hollowing watching the cutter rotating in the hole. I decided a bigger hole would be perfectly acceptable 😂🌞
We’ve all been there, lol. Thanks for watching
Absolutely beautiful Jim! I would humbly suggest you keep doing things your way. The results are always great!!
Thanks, will do!
It’s like each molecule of wood is speaking to Jim! He always, in the end, has a Masterpiece to polish and show us!
Designer Epoxy
Finally nailed that peacock color blend. Absolutely fabulous piece! Who says a piece of art cannot have a lid? It just can’t have a boring lid!
The general impression is if it has a lid, it becomes a utility item. Not in all cases though. Thanks
I have one word the cover this beautiful piece of art “WOW”
Thanks so much!
Absolutely gorgeous! It came out beautifully!
Thank you so much!
You have apparently PERFECTED the art of casting and turning the peacock hollowform. Good job!
Thank you very much!
You did it! the swirling of the glazes is an absolute masterpiece.
Thank you very much
Your doing a great job on those vases. I watch you when ever I can and if I see your show then I will watch.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations, you persevered and triumphed. The colours are absolutely stunning, sometimes pearly, sometimes abalone and sometimes opalescent. A truly beautiful piece and possibly the finest gloss finish to boot. And you were like a little kid at Xmas, too eager to open your present to pay good heed but you got there in the end. Bet you've been grinning from ear to ear and why not. Well done :)
Thank you so much!
Congrats, Jim! The perseverance has definitely paid off to achieve such a beautiful piece. It is absolutely stunning.
Thank you very much!
I have no other words besides BEAUTIFUL
Thanks!
Jim, this piece is even more stunning than the last one. I know I said the massive goblet was already my favorite, but now I'm changing my favorite to this beauty. If you continue to create such awesome work, I might have to do a favorite of the month. Thank you for sharing your work.
Wow, thank you!
Running out of words to express how beautiful your work is truly a very talented artist
Thank you so much 😀
Looks great!
Thanks!
Oh my gosh… those globes are incredible! The blue swirly ones look like the earth in space and the others look kinda like planets too. Gosh it’s beautiful! ❤ designer epoxy
Yes they do, thanks!
Love all the colors that designer epoxy provides. I look forward each week to be inspired
Thank you so much!
Wow! Wow, wow, wow! It is GORGEOUS! And I’m all out of superlatives. Very pleased that you’re happy with it too, which is probably the most important thing. I’ve finally been caught by Covid, 😩and I’ve felt like a sack of smashed crabs all week, you creating this vase so successfully made me smile, that’s a win, thank you. 🙂🌸
Get well soon, thanks!
I had covid induced sepsis to start with. Spent over a month in a facility after hospital. Nearly died but finally got to go home. No covid but suffering what will be months of healing from covid brain fog. I hope you heal rapidly with no after affects. It is horrible to have holes in your memory.
Oh. WOW! What a show stopper of a piece!
Thanks 😊
Your program is so soothing and tranquil yet excitement to see the end. Your voice is calm and laid back.
Thank you very much!
Jim, I agree. BEST EVER EPOXY. I had to watch twice and take notes.
Thank you very much
This one is absolutely stunning. So glad you figured out the heat and timing.
Thank you! 😊
Spectacular ......
The new owner will be jumping with joy.
They are! Thanks for watching!
FINALLY!!!....Great job...wifey just loves it.
Thank you very much
Perseverance is the winner. Such a pleasure to watch you create a master piece. Keep on going..
Thank you very much!
I sure love this hollow form, and the colors in it! Whoever owns it must be extremely pleased!
Thank you very much!
I have this vision of you making a string of these from large to small, to suspend off the ceiling with lights in each, your peacock finish and the black walnut shells/maybe some burl too??
Or each globe an incorporation with each of your previous best hits, with that lovely peacock blend.
Too busy? Too expensive? That'd be a series piece for sure.
Holy smokes is that beautiful.
Thanks Jim
That would be cool. Thanks for watching
That is spectacular! It is best lit from the outside. It lets you see all the colours. You know what they say , third time is the charm. Thanks for following through with these videos. It is nice to see how it all works out. Outstanding!
Thank you very much!
Jim .... it is like a Ming dynasty vase.
FANTASTIQUE !!
Thank you very much
Congratulations on getting what you wanted. A long haul. Looks fantastic
Thanks for watching
So glad you persevered with this peacock design Jim and worked through the problems, I’m not surprised it sold so quickly, well done
Thanks again!
Hi Jim we realy injoy watching you doing your turning.
David & Maria
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching
You finally nailed it, the colors are just right, that's peacock all right. Congratulations!
Thank you very much
You're really getting the resin to mix right down pat. I have often been disappointed that the colors on earlier projects blended so much, but now you got them curing up before they blend and it is looking so good!
Thank you! Cheers!
Third time is the charm. Just beautiful!
Thanks 😊
Oh My Goodness Gracious that is a BEAUTIFUL piece! I love it and wish I was rich enough to be able to buy it ... whoever does buy it is going to be so happy to get it I'm sure... love it
Thank you so much!
Yep, probably your best piece. Love it. Beautifully turned too.
Thank you very much!
Try try again….. and look at the amazing piece you created!🤩
Thank you so much 😀
Oh my! Jim you cracked it this time, spectacular piece and yes keeping the rim of epoxy was the right decision. Now you can mix the colours like this, I would love to see a tall vase in living flame colours.
There will be a flame type of project coming up at some point. Thank you so much!
Absolutely gorgeous! I get underwater cave diving vibes from this color combo with the burl.
Totally, thanks!
Absolutely beautiful ! Shout out to my fellow Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 friend
Thanks for watching 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Woweeee...Another very beautiful accomplished piece. Always look forward to Fridays!
Thank you very much!
I'm glad you left the resin for the opening of the hollow form. The piece reminds me of a concept fantasy/Syfy planet, the water on one side and the land mass on the other. Definitely your best resin casting and beautiful peacock feather look 🥰
Thank you very much
I love how this bowel turned out. The color separation is amazing. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
So glad you perfected your method to achieve the color separation. Lovely piece.
Thank you so much!
Well Jim all I can say is that hollow form turned out spectacular, the colours were amazing. well done, you should be very pleased with yourself.
Thank you! Cheers!
Ok... Jim... it is time to put together a greatest hits album. I am going backwards through your art right now, but I have seen so much of the first episodes. When you first started with epoxy until now is such a great journey to follow. Thank you for showing the good with the mistakes. It is so important for young turners. Keep up the amazing work.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
All of your pieces ARE that nice …. but this is special, I agree. Just WOW!! Thanks so much for letting us watch your amazing creativity and talent in action.
Thank you so much!
Beautifully, absolutely Beautifully
Thank you! Cheers!
Just wanted to let you know I was totally captivated through the whole process and as far as you said you didn’t want it to look like a urn I would be proud to house myself in it 🥰🤭. Hugs 🤗 and love ❤️ coming your way 😊
Lol, thanks! I really appreciate it!
So far, every piece I have watched you make, you have always said that it is the best one that you have done, by far. They are all really beautiful.
Thanks very much!
So beautiful...I've watched the transition between all 3 pieces and I loved to watch you experiment and learn. Thanks for taking us on the ride!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
Absolutely breathe taking. Amazing definition of each color and how each hue manages to come alive under the lights. Congratulations with the finished piece. Keep the videos coming as they are great entertainment for this 71 year old handicapped woman. LOL
Thanks 😊
Jim you have done some amazing work in the past but you really outdid yourself here. Simply beautiful!!
Thank you very much!
Jim, I agree with you. This is one of your nicest pieces ever. I am partial the Maple and Blues too. Beautiful piece.
Many thanks!
This really did turn out spectacular. My favorite part of this is the shape and I'm so glad you left the resin rim. The colors are so perfect!
Thank you so much!
That shape is AMAZING! The colors are STUNNING! AWESOME job!!
Thank you very much!
You stuck the landing. Dang that’s beautiful. Thank you as always. Designer epoxy.
Thank you very much
This is the most beautiful resin piece I have ever seen. It's just absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks so much 😊
I totally agree!!!!!! This piece “The Peacock” is the most Beautiful Epoxy piece I have ever seen. This is Top Drawer, Jim!
I love seeing the works of art slowly turning afterwards so we can see every single piece of it. Wow, Jim…just WOW! You really need to have someone who is in Canada find out about Art Galleries and Art Contest-type events you can participate in with a bunch of your pieces. The Peacock would kick donkey in ANY contest event! 🎉
Designer Epoxy
Designer Epoxy
I really liked the way you pranced around like a Peacock……and you should be proud……it’s Magnificent 😊
Lol. Thanks for watching
That came out beautiful. Glad you were able to keep the resin lip. Third time was the charm.
Thank you so much!
Designer epoxy
Wow! Beautiful mix of peacock colors. Excellent video. Thank you.
Thank you! Cheers!
Your getting it dialed in! No bubbles and no voids. Beautiful piece!
Thank you very much!
The hollow form is so beautiful. Your timing on the resins setup worked beautifully. All the colors show up so well. I'd give my eye teeth to be able to afford this.
I wonder how much there worth on the open market, hahahah. Thanks for watching!
Me too!! (to giving my eye teeth!)
Amazing. So glad you kept revisiting this theme until you nailed it. So, so worth it. I hope I get to see more evolutions like this on your channel
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
NAILED IT!!! Perfect execution Jim - not only in the mix/cure/swirl ratio, but the overall form of the piece. I was very happy you left the epoxy ring - that really was the icing on the cake!
Thanks again!
Jim, That thing is stupid beautiful. Thank you "Designer Epoxy"
Thank you very much
Ive watched both video versions of this one now...I agree, this one is in your top masterpiece list! Absolutely GORGEOUS! When my time comes, I'll be buying one of your peacock creations! Stunning!!
Thanks again!
Jim, wanted to thank you for the discount at Hunter Tools. I placed an order for Over $300 yesterday so that 10% from you here was much appreciated. Love your videos.
Awesome! Your going to love them. Thanks
