I’m 39 so we are in the same boat! Great review. I agree with your face sculpt assessment. Difference not noticeable enough to me. I really dig the stand though. Not bad overall.

I honestly think this version is better than the first release. I actually like some of the soft goods this Luke has. Not a huge fan of big bases...but the detail is nice on it. Gonna have to try that trick you did with the cloak. Great review brother. 👍

I appreciate the comparison videos. If you find a channel called The Toy Aisle Alliance, he has a video where he demonstrates a trick you can do, using a twist tie, that makes the cloak look way better on Luke.

It does not. Those bases represent two different planets. Kylo/Snokes is the same room.

Nice video! Yeah I think that the face on this figure is much better than the first one. The bottom of the face on the first one looks wider on the bottom than on this one which makes its proportion look more realistic rather than of a Luke who has been eating too many donuts!!! Plus the eyes are different. the first one's eyes look out of proportion while this one look perfect. But then I do not recognize this dude anyway. Luke???? Neither figure comes across to me as Luke. Both lack the exactness of the close up of the face on the inside of the box which looks more like the movie character. Better sculpting around the eyes, pulling the face forward instead of making it look fat and flat, and effective shading to highlight the eyes, nose, and brow would really make a fantastic difference!
I think that’s my problem with the sculpt! I can tell it’s different, but I don’t think it was necessarily better in the way that Rey was clearly a better likeness of Daisy Riddley.

Good call with the way you tie the cloak, under his armpits and behind his back. Back in the day, Rian posted a pic of Luke's cloak, goo.gl/images/wakts1 , you can see there are 2 strings like the figure has. Also, if you look closely, goo.gl/images/gkZfrP , I believe thats how Mark wears his. Never noticed until after owning the toy, just thought it was either sewn on or draped on his shoulders.
At the end of TFA, goo.gl/images/FrtDq3 , strings tied behind him and pinned to his shoulders.... weird. Lol

The overall figure isn't that much better than the original to me. The base is what makes it stand out. I love the base. Let's just say I...really...didn't like the original figure. Such a disappointment. If I had the base from the get go i would have been happier. So the figure is eh, but the base is what really makes it better. At least it's better than the first printing Rey from a few waves back. That was one wonky figure.
