My disk was scratched or something, because whenever I got to the end credits of a run (the final "true" ending had no issues for some reason), it would crash before I could earn the weapon unlock.
One day I got mad enough to sit down and try for a full Saturday afternoon, _eventually_ the stars aligned and gave me that f***ing gun.
I kid you not, when I finally overcame the limitations of my hardware, I paraphrased Shadow from SA2: "It all starts with this: A gun containing the ultimate power- the power to crash the game."

But in Adventure 2 his last action was a sacrifice
In 06 Mephiles tells him the world will betray him yet he still fights him and later inspects the duke of Soleanna after the incident, he was proven humanity will actually hunt him and yet he checked on the guy's health
In Battle he fights Tails to destroy Emerl since he knows an inventor's sight is blinded by their prides in their creations and by quote "no one should ever go through what i have"
And about edginess, in SA2 Shadow was pretty cool even as a villain and wasn't with a stone on his shoe all time, he had a sense of humor

We are still getting original game . generations through the sonic campaign.
Shadow campaign gives us a whole other game.
Who knows we may get a true story type ending once both campaigns are cleared with classic/modern /shadow teaming up to defeat a fusion of black doom and time eater.

My biggest hope is actually that they change up the final boss for the main campaign so that it isn’t absolutely miserable to play

This game went from "Hey we're rereleasing Sonic Generations with a shadow sidestory as a bonus" to "We're making Shadow the hedgehog 2 and throwing in Sonic generations as a bonus."
It may be wishful thinking but I REALLY hope this is their way of bringing Maria back into the series for a while. Let our boy have his best friend back

No. Keep her dead. She serves no other purpose than to be Shadow's baggage. She'd just be chilling in the background, taking up space. The dude has several games dedicated to him moving on from her. Bringing her back would completely undermine the work those games have done. Don't let her be another Sage, who just didn't die despite having such a poignant death scene. This ain't One Piece.
This isn't the first time I've seen this suggestion either. Some of you need to understand that tragedy is just a part of life. Shadow will be happy without her.

@@zephyr8072 That's black and white thinking. As all of his appearances have proved, Shadow has a lot to add to the franchise. Yes, tragedy is a part of life, but that doesn't mean every character has to die.
Maria on the other hand _has_ to stay dead in order for her character to have any worth. Her death, to this day, remains an integral part of Shadow's history. He's motivated by wanting to prevent similar tragedies from happening. He spent a few games making peace with her death. If she were revived, then all of that would be for nothing. What would she add? Shadow already moved past her death and even if she were alive, he would still want to carry out her request to bring hope to humanity. She would straight up just be floating in the background with nothing to do besides act cute.
Plus, you seem to forget that she had an incurable disease. One that only Gerald made any progress in curing, and that's with the help of Black Doom. Also, it's been established that she stayed on the arc because the low gravity slowed down the spread of her disease. I doubt Eggman's going to spare any time to help Maria since he has his own plans. Plus, neither him or Tails have shown the expertise in biology comparable to Gerald. So, she'd basically be waiting for death anyway.
