The star wars prequels is one example of listening to fans not always working, George Lucas ended up completely changing the story after the phantom menace due to the hate and several actors, including hayden Christensen and even Ewan McGregor, ended up suffering due to star wars, despite the prequels not even being half bad and people are starting to recognize it in todays age. Its never black and white.

This is peak cinema right here. The colour grading, shots, Shadow's design and backstory remaining intact, Keanu as Shadow, Carrey back both as Robotnik AND Gerald, the action, the music, everything about this trailer slaps so hard. This is the best time to be a Sonic fan right now fr.
What I love about Keanu’s Shadow is that he isn’t doing his regular voice for him, he actually softens it up and delivers his lines very calmly, which fits Shadow so much!!
Ik. Keanu is one of those actors that never blows off a performance. That might be why the roles he picks can seem kinda weird sometimes. Like when he turned down being in a Marvel movie in favor of a role in Sponge on the Run 🤔 like… what. Or how he turned down a role in a Star Wars show (I forget the exact one) in favor of this. We may love this series, but I think most other people would agree that a Star Wars role is more prestigious than a role in a PG-rated video game adaptation. I think he likes to pick roles he knows he can actually get into. You gotta respect that.

Keanu's voice is just naturally deep enough to fit, which combined with a bit of type casting is wh he feels like such a fitting choice to be playing Shadow.
Can’t wait to see how they explained him meeting Eggman here. Last I checked in the games, he was executed (dead) before the events of (we can assume) the first Sonic the Hedgehog game, given that Eggman is the only known living person of his family left. Everything about shadow is on point. His presentation, his design, his voice, his movements, the use of the hoverboots, the rollerblade run, chaos control, everything, even the dark edgy vibe is present . They couldn't have done it better!!

The way Shadow leaps off of his airborne motorcycle before falling into a headfirst dive before punching Sonic is just full of the exaggerated swagger of a black hedgehog.
Imagine going from the original design to Paramount, listening and fixing the problem to now getting Shadow on the big screen. Take notes, Hollywood, if you give the people what they want, they'll show up day one.

Just saw this. I didn't even know three names from Sonic until my boyfriend took me to see the first movie 4 years ago. We broke up a week later, but I still watch the movies. This one was the best yet. They keep getting better.
FINALLY! A movie trilogy where the next movie keeps getting better! They’re extremely rare.
In this day and age, that's unfortunate..but these directors seem to know what they're doing. :)

It feels inevitable for a Sonic movie franchise.
You start the first one as a proof of concept: a hedgehog that runs really fast, keep the plot vanilla and palatable, if it bombs then okay whatever.

Considering so far they have respected the material since the first movie's release, second, and now the 3rd movie is looking to do the same. This is literally enough to get me to go to the movie Day 1, i even plan on calling off of work if i work opening night.
I get what you're saying I really do but sometimes there's nothing wrong with trying to meet the middle with Hollywood. What you say is true about giving fans what they want but that doesn't mean fast you just tell Hollywood how to make a movie especially involved with their franchise I think it's All about cooperation. Paramount should have a Guiness World Record For their comeback. They went from having the worst Sonic Design and not even having a movie to having the most peak set of videogame movies and now we are getting a 3rd one. W Paramount
They've actually said they have plans for a 'Sonic Cinematic Universe'. I know a few other companies have tried to do it, but I think they may actually pull this one off.

I love how Gerold’s reveal at the end gives off that every Eggman pretty much has the exact same personality when it comes to being a genius.
Months ago, I kind of wanted to see *Heisenberg* in the role as Gerald simply because he just looks the part, the man knows how to be effectively both comedic and dramatic to a T. (And hey imagine him acting alongside Jim Carrey, that would have been wild)
