- Been a while since the last Volvo update but we got here finally. Got it up on a ramp, and found a bunch of things.

And was hunting at idle cleaned MAF out brake cleaner service runs ok now
On the earlier engines there was pretty much a core plug that seats in the block just above the sump that fell out from time to time which caused an oil leak just like yours maybe worth checking that yours is still in haha, not sure if your age one had them but earlier ones deffo have them so might be worth a look! Also may be worth checking the vacuum in the system for the turbo too, the engine mounts are vacuum controlled and like to start leaking at a certain age, because its the same vacuum system as the turbo actuator the loss of vacuum from the engine mounts means the turbo cant work efficiently so will cause low boost issue... might be worth a look into!

Had a D5 S60, binned it off after 275k. By far the best car I've had. Solid, way comfy, sounded ace. Everyone loves a hot Swede

As he says PCV is probably the reason it lacks performance, my old focus st was the same till I fitted a replacement from Volvo as it was cheaper

Brings back memories of my old fully specced passion red C30 D5, on fully boost sounded just as sweet as a T5 with plenty of torque for such a small body. Loved that car. Proper underrated. Often wonder who's got it now NM08BHK
Car deserves a bit of love.. Just ordered a IPD exhaust for my S60 T5, think that sounds te best.
Love the ex police t5 , check which force it come from might have a service print out . Also don’t forget the cam belt .awaiting the next episode 👍👍👍

Great you are doing videos on such a diverse range of cars outside Golf R/ S3 You are really showing your talent and abilities by producing these videos.
I've quite a bit of experience with these cars. You really need to check the PCV system, put a latex glove over the oil filler (with the cap removed). If it gets sucked in, your fine. If not you have to renew the PCV system. Not that expensive parts wise, yet a lot of work as you have to remove the inlet manifold to gain access. The oil leak at the back of the block is most likely the oil return line from the turbo. The o-ring gets hard and start to leak. Not expensive, a bit of work yet not too bad if you have a ramp. Nice work!

Used to run a V50 T5 which I steadily upgraded over the years. Sounded like a MK2 Focus RS after I'd finished with it. Loved that car. Tip - try IPD for parts, including more sturdy turbo control valves. The OEM ones are quite weak.

V70 wagons with manual transmissions are gold. Period.

There's quite a bit of space underneath by the transmission because some models (like the R) came with AWD, so that's where the coupling and crankshaft would go for the AWD models IIRC.
Check camshaft seals thoroughly, if they haven’t gone previously they will go soon
I had a V70 T5 ex cop car years ago, to be fair a pretty solid car as these generally have stronger suspension parts and better pads than standard, well if you get them as soon as they are decommisoned but I used to love flying up behind people and laughing when they slowed down and stuck to speed limits 🤣🤣

I've just bought a V70 T5 as well! I think it's got a vacuum leak too, so would appreciate a video on that if you fix yours!
Just sold 1 identical to yours, get that pcv done asap mate and drop the sump for a good clean of the oil pickup pipe.
Can't beat the old Volvo tanks. Its certainly a car you want to be in if you have a crash.
Roadstone tyres ( I think that was the make) are made by Nexen. Cheaper but a bit more of a known brand.
As you say, pcv's are common on these. Do a res delete, new back box and it will sing nicely 👍

For better braking power you can use Volvo XC90 brakes at the front, but you need a bracket for the calipers. The S60/V70 T5's have bad brakes. A friend of my had this done for €750.
I remember years ago (2008) being involved in a pretty serious accident (I was totally not at fault!) and the police car that arrived at the scene is pretty much the same as yours. The officer concerned was so chuffed because our accident had given him just cause to give the car some serious beans - he did tell me he was doing 140 on a dual carriageway to get to us . What I will say is that as soon as he realised that myself and my family were unharmed, he looked at my car and said "Saab 9-5 - safest car around", an opinion also shared by the Fire Brigade who attended the accident, as they had to cut the driver at fault out of his vehicle.
I was involved in an incident around the same time, bloke walked out in front of me at a pedestrian crossing. Everyone else was stood waiting as their light was red and he just walked right past them infront of my car. I got a t5 and a 4x4 transit ambulance come out.
When you got to google the tyre make you know you have issues 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻

I brought the same car about 5 years ago and 2 months later the gearbox went. Because it had a Tiptronic in it, it cost more to fix than buying a new one. So I sold it of parts eg seats, body panels, fixings and got my money back and bought another but then found out they are very tail happy indeed like, I was going around a roundabout at 20 mph with my girlfriend's son in the car and the back just spun out which made us rotate fully. Was not keen into since.

The breather pipe must be common fault on Volvos I had a C70 showing faults for running lean found exact same defect, luckily solved my problem!
XC90 callipers standard on all facelift T5’s (2.4 not 2.3) except they run 316mm discs, majority of XC90’s run 336mm, quick upgrade to get a bit more braking.. or just go straight to R’s

I wouldn't bother ordering any parts till you sort the vacuum leaks. Mine had a few and it would throw boost pressure codes, maf codes and run like crap. Sort the vacuum leaks then scan it again before you go buying mafs etc. On those volvos if the maf is bad the cooling fan often starts up after u switch the car off even if it's still cold.

My friend who is an ex police superintendent who used to be in charge of traffic in the local force said no-one should ever buy an ex police car - they have all been thrashed to almost death!
Keep standard. Car did 120k in just under 4 years. V suggests car from Worcestershire or somewhere. New tyres that stop car aren't cheap. Maybe do cambelt again.

The oil is mainly from poor filling by service .They do use a little and in ther time some folk dont care .Clean all oil out tops of covers by coil packs .it rotts wiring and can be saved in some cases with good clean. with rags if ness then degreaser . Or steam clean with hot wash and get it all off and keep check . Steering racks leak when numptys use atf instead of green pentosin oil. Dump ps oil and flush system if rack is oily looking at all . PCV BITS ON eBAY . iNTERCOOLER IS SHOT WITH THEM CODES TOO . Mine was too . standard ones are pretty pish but do the deed . You can hear your car when boosting its rushing air out somewhere. You will know when its right .Boost is good when air tight . foam filter will let you hear boost build and dump as it should ? Should be a healthy 260 hp still when right and air tight .

Bro, Roadstone Eurovis Sport 04 is a cracking mid range tyre. Roadstone are owned by Nexen, who are now OEM supplier for the new Porsche Cayenne.
I’ve run Nexen NuFera SU1 for over 35k on my 740; they’re amazing.
I’ve also run the Roadstone Eurovis Sport 04 for a long period and they’re great and they use an older Nexen mould.

Do these have the vacuum engine mounts like the D5? If so the leak and cause underboost issues.
I Had one of these, not ex police, just a normal green T5, "R" Wheels on it, straight piped, one of the best sounding cars I've had and I loved it, Until the engine went on the motorway now it's sat in bits infront my garage
