- Here it is, a special video with every Custom Move of all characters in Super Smash Bros Wii U!
It took me really a lot of time between recording and editing but the final result is nice and clear. There are some mistakes though, for example I forgot to record Fox's down special hitbox but at least I managed to do the comparisons of every move (I used 3 Nintendo GameCube Wavebird controllers on the same frequence so every move starts at the same frame input).

to anyone asking, changing the color does not change the move, and the reason he didn't do dlc is because 2 reasons, the number 1 being that dlc was not there at the time, the second reason is because dlc don't have custom moves

It's funny how much of a creator's pet Sakurai made Palutena into. Every other character just gets tweaks to the properties of their moves on each variation; Palutena gets whole new attacks. On top of a teleport instead of a dodge roll, leagues more voice work than the other characters, & starting with all her variants unlocked. Not saying she's OP, but someone definitely got a lot more attention in the design lab than others.
Sakurai does that for all his self characters. Kirby(created by him) was op in first smash 64, meta knight was op in brawl and I'm pretty sure he wanted the goddess to be op in this game.
But instead it's a monkey. ..

If you ask me, Bowser's 2nd Neutral Special (Fireball Cannon) should have been there from the beginning. I mean, from the first Super Mario Bros onwards, we've only ever seen him shoot fireballs as opposed to a stream of fire breath, so to me that just makes more sense.
So true. Plus, as a Bowser main, a projectile would really help him.

I've noticed a type of trend for nearly all the moves.
Set 1: Default
Set 2: Quicker/More recovery based, usually vertical
Set 3: Raw Power/High Damage/More horizontal in recovery
This doesn't apply to everyone, but for the most part it does

Man were these fun. I remember having a blast with the insane custom knockback moves Mario had and the ridiculous kill power of Charizard's Dragon Rush customs. RIP Customs. You are missed, by me at least.

I absolutely love what they were going for with custom moves. They’re such an interesting design and you can edit your character to suit them to your play style. I just wish they were balanced a bit more and weren’t so painfully tedious to unlock

In case anybody was wondering, Marth and Lucina’s dancing blade attack (the second one shown) the difference between each one is that, moveset 2 is easier to combo, but weaker and the 3rd moveset is the opposite, powerful but hard to combo

I have to say, Palutena have the most interesting Custom Moves, because it's not just a variation of a move that she have, but it's a completly different move.
You could say the same about Megaman...mostly.

If you haven’t unlocked Lucas yet but you really want to unlock him, set up the Ness custom moves.

1. no you can't just change colors then have custom moves
2. dlc doesn't have custom moves.

The one custom [if not just it alone it's definitely one of them] that made everyone go "Oh man custom moves are AWESOME" to "I don't know about custom moves anymore guys". [At least I'm sure it's that one where the sappling makes you trip]
The tree counters, so if someone tries to attack it, it'll do damage to them instead.
Bowserslave no that move is specifically the sapling that trips people is the reason customs are banned it is the most broken custom in the game it should be a side grade to normal not turn a move into the best move in the game

How is that so broken? It's nothing special compared to the others.
Random Elsen because the trip can break combos and start your own. If you hide behind it no melee only characters can threaten you because of it. And since villager is already a direct counter to all projectile characters with their pocket a skilled player with this can only be countered by another villager with this or a Luma who cannot be pocketed or tripped. It removes villagers main weakness and turns it into one of his strengths. Normally he sucks at melee range but this you can hit someone into the sapling they trip down smash than forward smash. Guaranteed tripping on opponents at melee range is op especially on a character that should never be hit by a single projectile unless combed into with a skilled player. This wouldn't be broken if character with no ranged attacks reflectors absorbers or pockets had it but it is on villager and it literally makes a skilled player with it invincible. If it was on for instance King dedede it wouldn't be a problem because he has a huge weakness to projectiles so he would be good in melee but easily counter by mega man or samus. But villager already counters those units heavily. This added makes him counter both melee combat and ranged combat. This leaves the only counter as luma who doesn't trip or get pocketed. So you would only see Rosalina and villager win tournaments if this move was allowed.
But- Couldnt you just jump over it?
And- even if he waters it as you jump. couldnt you just roll-dodge instead?? Only new players could be tricked by this.

Kirby had alot of potential for custom moves. It sucks that they didn't do a whole lot with him. I think Palutena and Mega Man had some of the best diversity of custom moves

However I'd still like to give a wholehearted thank you for making this video, since I'm a very casual player with a love for online play, I've not managed to unlock many custom moves, though I've been interested to see what was unlockable. I can appreciate sincerely how much time and effort this video must have taken. As a previous maker of small videos, I am well aware of the substantial amount of time that is required to make the video through recording and editing and that doesn't even include the amount of time in game to unlock all of these.

The Pit, Peach, Samus ones could have been used for their echos in Smash Ultimate to give them more differences. Even Megaman’s could have been for a potential echo fighter of Proto-Man, but instead he’s a DLC Mii.

Anna Nimmous what piss me of is that we can't use this additional moves or Mii characters oline. So basically this idea of having additional moves and mii characters is irrelevant. I was so happy of this but when i star playing Smash 4 and see that i can't use all of this online or in tournaments i was like: why they come up with this idea in the first place? There just too predictable during matches and can lead to hard punishes because of that. Also they can be fatal to the player when offstage, especially for a character like Mario who struggle to get back on stage at a short distance away from the stage.

Even into year 2023 when Steve is in smash ultimate, no one can stop the nostalgia of customizing the characters like in smash 4. Not even Steve is powerful enough to resist nostalgia. Nostalgic feels to the human is like butter to a fly. Or was it vinegar?
Edit: I’ve decided to spend my weekend playing smash 4 to take a break from the switch for a while. Steve’s Wii U deserves some attention.
Wish they kept this type of thing, it makes you customize their movesets which I loved.
I wish this was incorporated into ultimate. The new thing is spirits, the least they could do is make a spirit that changes each special into a different form.

Custom moves, Controllable Final Smashes, Pure Charizard, and Fun/Competitive Online would all be cool things to have carried over to the new game as optional or something.
From what I’m looking at, it looks like the formula for these were
A: Normal move
B: Stronger, but shorter range
C: Weaker / will do no damage but bigger range
There’s differences/outliers but it’s mostly that.

Even if SSB4 wasn't a perfect game, heck far from it, there's just so many dang things I miss from it I wish were in Ultimate. Custom moves, transformation final smashes, some awesome stages that didn't make the cut, it really was something special.
Dang it, these had so much potential to add more variety to So Many movesets but Nintendo only made Mega Man and Palutena have it the best with Custom Moves. They were actually fun though, even if many were generic slower but stronger/faster but weaker versions of moves. Too bad these aren’t back in Ultimate, and Mega Man could have benefited from it. Also the fact you can Give Little Mac a better or worse recovery is CRAZY.

Agreed all the way. Or tails should have been a DLC character. But we got fucking Corrin instead cos he's more popular in Japan
