+Xekken It's more about the fact that Corrin is essentially what Roy was to melee, He was simply added into the game to promote hype for an upcoming game. Fire Emblem had already received two new characters entrants, On top of the Roy return from Melee. It's more of the fact that the character slot would have been more appreciated if it went towards another series.
Squiddeer well those are kinda harsh reasons. First, true Corrin is like Roy in melee, a promoting tool. But Roy turned out to be a fan favourite in Smash 4 even he is a semi clone because he has a pretty good moveset. Look at Corrin, that F-smash tho.... He looks really fun to play. I must agree that I am surpriced to see this many FE characters too. But I'm fine with it and I think it is reasonable. That's because FE has mutiple stories. There are multiple main characters. Marth, Roy, Ike, Robin all represents their own story. You can literally play FE awakening yet still have no idea who Ike or Roy is. Corrin is brought into this because no character represents Fates. (Fan fact. I used to think Marth, Roy and Ike are buddies back in brawl. I was dumb.....) I think the real problem is the Smash ballot. That ballot gave too much hype and expectations. People are guarenteed that they will get Shovel knight or K rool. Without the ballot. I'm confident that Corrin and Bayonetta won't have so much hate because they 'stole' a character slot. Not to mention Cloud being revealed first made the 2 look a littl weak too.
+Xekken My point is the Smash Ballot was the last chance for this game to get any DLC characters, I'm not saying you couldn't make another unique character from Fire Emblem, I'm saying people would have liked an Indie game/Non-Nintendo to be selected as this was the best chance of that happening. Honestly Bayonetta is the best DLC Nintendo put out. She somehow passed censorship and etc. Oh and her voice makes me melt 😍 I hope she returns for a future Smash game(if they are gonna make a new one in the future)
