    For those that are wondering, the 30-06 recoil is around 22 ft lbs, the 50BMG recoil is around 80ft lbs., the 577 T-Rex recoil is around 170 ft lbs.

    • @twistedyogert
      @twistedyogert ปีที่แล้ว +44

      Some types of artillery use a shock absorber to handle the recoil. I'm surprised that guns chambered in the .577 T-Rex don't have that.

    • @marioncobretti7870

      @kenofken9458 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@marioncobretti7870 The rifles themselves are far larger and heavier for a .50 BMG. They're not designed to be shouldered by normal humans. They also tend to have muzzle brakes in many cases.

      @marioncobretti7870 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kenofken9458 the firing mechanism seems to compress as its fired as well, lots of moving parts. I would imagine its beyond a simple, its just heavier with a muzzle break. I bet if a muzzle break was on the t rex it would still kick way harder.

People are always trying to make lighter stocks out of carbon fiber or whatever the next big thing is, but wood or synthetic with some weight behind it can really help with the recoil. For real. One of the guns I own is an old Winchester Model 37, a very light single shot shotgun. The recoil from firing high velocity slugs (1,600fps / 1,700fps) through it feels less like a shove and more like an actual sting. It's kinda addictive, but firing a few of those in a row means guaranteed bruising.

      @@TheAbyssalStorm It's bad design, putting the magazine release on the inside of the trigger guard like that given just how hard that rifle kicks. the exact same system was on the old arisakas from over 100 years ago and when the russians got their hands on some, in the russo-japanese war, they immediately sawed that thing off (or took the effort to disable it by putting metal ring around the trigger guard so that it would be unable to move). yerp. very very old issue, my friend. pretty cool to think, though.

I have no idea how it compares to other gun channels, but his focus on the large calibers means he often spends many hundreds - and in some case thousands - of dollars in ammo costs alone. Add the tables, the vehicles, the props, the targets, and the cleanup, and there's no telling what these videos cost. And we're not even considering the price of those guns!!!
