Thanks dude. At least with motorcycling you don't have to carry it on your back. I follow a channel by Greg McCahon about a bikepacking trip from Alaska to Mexico, it is excellent.
I have never wild camped. I prefer to camp in a canvas Belltent with a wood burning stove, on a campsite. It’s hard to set it all up, but once it’s done, it’s lovely and relaxing. Going this weekend with my friends to a local campsite, hopefully the rain holds off! It’s near Lewes, Sussex. Glad the wolf didn’t get you! Or the creepy dude on the hill 🐺 👨
I love camping, an as for what's wrong with me, there's too many things too mention! 😆 Nice one cool dude, love to see more of you camping, you never know, might get lucky one night and turn into a werewolf 😉 Take care Wishing you all the best D & B 👍
I hate camping. There is still lots wrong with me but that is the one thing I got right! Great pics, good book choice and big thumbs up for swimwear Marek's!
We borrowed a family members tent, pitched in an empty plot on a camping field! Went to have dinner out, came back to find the family nearby had run over our tent with a car and witnesses were very pleased we wasnt in it!!! The family denied it, but consequently apologized 😮 we had to replace the tent! No compensation for us! Since then we purchased a motor home and then that led to being full time vanlifers ❤
YAAASSSS Cool Dudes Camping Club has another member. Those beach huts look very safe. Man you should sell/prize draw prints of the cartoon cutaway drawings I love them. This was my favourite episode this year.
I bought all the gear a couple of years ago and used it on a proper campsite (to test it out,) and haven't been out since. I keep thinking I really should though it comes down to having the confidence... You found a great location for the sea view and hopefully you'll be out again and we get to see some more of the island.
I got all my stuff fairly cheap on offer or from China, I still haven't used it enough to justify the cost though. Ha. The Nemo Abyss pillow I bought is excellent though. Half sponge, half inflated.
The beautiful Isle of Wight, we've spent many happy family camping holidays there. Best spot was Stoats Farm, close to The Highway Inn, West Wight. Lower Hyde use to be ok until it went glamping.🤦🏻♀️ Linda used to charge up our mobiles & the kids Nintendo consoles. We could hear badgers running along outside our tents during the night & the clear night skies were unbeatable for star gazing.Whats so bad about camping Marek? 😎👍🏻 Staying Cool 😉
Cool Dude, you make me watch this when I should be working. Have you got anything to say for yourself? Also, that creepy voyeur would have freaked me out too.
That was a brave thing to do Marek. Given the amount of supernatural activity on the IOW, I'd have been awake all night worrying about grey ladies. I'm not surprised you didn't get any sleep!
Yeah, camping can do one, basically. I last went in the 90s with two friends from college. We took the hydrofoil to the Isle of Wight (funnily enough) and walked from Cowes to Wootton. We set the tent up and then gale force winds that evening practically destroyed it. We returned to the mainland the following day, with our tails between our legs. Still, the sunset and sunrise looked superb and that tent looked relatively resilient compared to ours. What next in the series of doing stuff you hate? Partying with pigeons?
I’ve only been camping 4 times; the first two occasions were with mates in our late teens and my lingering memories of those trips were having cold tinned tomato soup for breakfast in the first trip (we kept our money aside for the pub) and finding a dead wasp in a can of nearly empty lager. Third occasion was at the V97 Festival where i experienced the horror of festival hygiene facilities. Fourth and final time was in my back garden with my eldest, then aged 4, and we only lasted 2hrs - we were both terrified of creepy crawlies getting in. I’m NEVER planning to go camping again
I’ve only recently discovered your channel and absolutely love it so am suitably relieved you didn’t get eaten by werewolves/rabid badgers/mice etc. Stay cool Marek 👍
We are braving camping again this year......in Cornwall for 10 nights and wondering what the chuff we've signed up for as we used to do it all the time in our 20s and 30s with two kids.......but not looking forward to it now in our 40s with two tech mad teens and fussy eaters 😂😂😂😂😂 but trying to tell ourselves 'a camping holiday is better than no holiday'......we'll see if we make it! Lol great video as always, BRILLIANT werewolf drawings 😂 and we won't mention the mouse no.......we once got shifted up by a vole eating our loaf at 3am so your secrets safe with us! 😂😂😂 #staycool
Never done a wild camp, but me and my 5 year old son love a weekend away in the tent. Very much a fair weather camper though with impromptu bookings weather dependent Well done Carlos and thanks for the video
I hate tents due to the bug infestation by the morning. But i go camping in a VW van (hire) and thats almost acceptabel Good video, reassures me, i am right in the above
To my chagrin I have zero camping experience, but I did have an unexpected meeting with a mouse this year, except I was in London's Peacock Theatre watching the mouse do laps of the section of the stalls I was in. Did try to scoop it up with my jacket so I could release it, but they're nifty little movers! Speaking of nifty, nice keyboard playing at the end there 👍🏻
Hey Mr Marek! Just popped you an email! I also love this content, you should deffo make the wild camping a series all over different parts of the island I recently just went camping in cornwall and must say foxes kept me up!
The way I see it is people think of camping as the whole experience. But the sleeping and tent stuff isn't fun or comfortable at all. The camp fire, making your food etc can be fun. The camp fire etc can be fun... Waking up in nature is beautiful... But the tent, sleeping part... Not fun... If you could set up camp, have a fire, chats, food and then go to a hotel... And be back for sunrise... Thats the dream haha
Could have jazzed it up a bit by pitching the tent on the beach and hoping the tide wouldn't take you away. Closest I ever got to camping was watching Larry Grayson on the Generation Game and Dale on Supermarket Sweep back in the day...........
Great photos, what filter did you use. Camping definitely not for us. Probably the safest place to camp is your back garden. Food didn’t look to bad, especially with your extras. Lucky with the weather. Imagine if it had rained.
I didn't use a filter cool dude. I took them with my long lens on my Olympus Em1III. I think I may have forgotten to reset the white balance so everything came out with a cool orange hue. It was pretty orange then though in real life.
Every new CDWC video is a treat. Usually enjoyed at breakfast to start the day right. Audio question: I haven't seen anyone else mention this but in recent videos we have to max out the volume to hear you talking and it distorts a bit, especially on the walk, although the piano at the end is always normal volume.
That was not a mouse, it was an R.O.U.S.! You were lucky to escape alive! Perhaps you haven't got to that part of the book yet. I sort of like the idea of Camping but when I actually think about the practicalities I have second thoughts, Which is probably partly why i haven't been on holiday for over four years.
Welcome to the wild camping club, Marek! Usually they say you need to be above 1000ft in England and Wales, but I reckon the beach is fair game (if you’re away from people). Shame about the mouse, but nice work on the sunrise
Literally the only time I camp is because I'm at a music festival and my reward for having to persevere with a horrible dome of cold (my tent) is the fact that I get to see some cool bands
I love the idea of camping, the actual act of camping can go do one - that is unless you love getting delirious after a combination of lack of sleep and being utterly uncomfortable. Nice to see Holly from Red Dwarf making an appearance at 04:29
I camped sometimes with my parents in the 60'es and I liked it then. But as an adult I haven't camped more than one night and that was at a campsite in 1997. I still have the tent but I can never manage to make up my mind to go camping....
Just the perfect video. Who made you go camping Marek and what do they have on you? Nice way to find out that Carlos finally joined the club. To answer your questions, yes I like camping although I don’t sleep very well and there’s an awful lot wrong with me. Nice one!
Thanks cool dude. I thought I would go as I was running out of walks on the island , and I felt bad about spending so much money on camping gear and not using it enough.
I love camping, mostly because i prepare a ton and always go to camp grounds with good bathrooms and electricity haha if i were to try camping like this id likly only be able to stand it for like one or two nights. Im a glamper at heart 😂
Beautiful place to camp, good to see it's possible to wild camp on south coast. Would like to camp as love being out in nature but definitely need a comfy camping mattress :) last time was car camping, probably doesnt count lol but kept me safe from bears and possible giant badgers :D Great video, thanks Marek! :)
I can't sleep on the build up to a full moon. The 48hours before I feel stressed and feel like I want to go running into the wilderness. As soon as the moon hits 100% full I feel fine again. This is a completely true story... but probably something similar is the origins of the werewolf stories.
We like camping CD, we did a bit in Canada and surprisingly you forget about all of the bears and wolfs in the great outdoors and just sleep. Puts your mouse to shame
May I have these uncool ghosting dudes prizes if they don’t get in touch? I feel like a winner today. Yes I love camping, but I don’t go camping often because I’m deeply allergic to getting killed in my sleep by a mouse. I’m more of a camper van camper. Similar experience slightly less work.
Thousands of people every year are killed in their tents by mice, but we never hear of them as they are also eaten by the mice. Also the prizes got claimed I am afraid.
I was all up for my own solo camping expedition til u mentioned the creepy person watching your tent 😱 other than that, it looked pretty fun! And those wandering chef meals look great... Hey Cool Dude 0, Some genuine further questions: How did you choose your camping spot? Is wild camping permitted on the IoW? Obviously external threats such as werewolves and serial killers are important to factor in; Would you recommend your camping spot for solo women that you feel non-negatively towards?
I think wildcamping isn't really permitted but if you pick places out of the way it is probably tolerated. I am not an expert so don't know the rules exactly. I would have recommended my spot until I saw that bloke staring down at me for about a minute. It sort of ruined the camp as I thought the tent was out of sight. Ha.
Thanks Marek for sharing your adventure. We’ll done, especially for someone who doesn’t like camping. I quite like camping. My dad’s family is from Jersey. I believe that’s where all my problems began.
I hate camping. I don't think I have ever slept more than an hour or two when trying to camp. Fortunately I haven't been camping for at least a decade after being kept awake all night by cuckoos at the Big Sands campsite at Gairloch. I hope that Carlos enjoys the prizes. Stay cool
Hmm, I always like the idea of camping primarily for the sense of isolation and connection to nature, but the reality of my camping has just been at festivals which has been anything but. I'm also concerned about how I'd fare solo wild camping, especially since when I saw your campsite my first thought was "oh that's great, if he needs to poo he can do it down one of those big cracks" (I think I thought it would sort of disappear into an abyss and save you having to dig a hole and bury it)
@@cdwc Don't waste it on here, save that gold for Onlyfans, perhaps with the rough cut of you fucking a street lamp. Before you know it you'll be in the local paper as an 'overnight millionaire' and can hide in shame from everyone you know in your newly-acquired seafront mansion.
I like being in places you can only get to after a couple days of hiking, but all the prep work before you get to the trailhead is enough to dissuade me most of the time. I probably would’ve abandoned camp and walked home if I saw someone looking at me from a cliff in the night. There’s a very sad story from when I was a kid, please ignore if you don’t want to get bummed out-back in 2006 a woman and her daughter were shot and killed while hiking in a popular spot near me, and the killer was never found. I think of them every single time I got out hiking or camping, and absolutely freak myself out. The Pacific Northwest of the US is a spooky region
@@cdwcRight?!? Also, I remembered this story as occurring in the 90’s, but I looked it up after I posted and edited the date. I was fully 26 when it happened, but it scared me enough to feel like a formative childhood memory.
I like the idea of camping like they do in fantasy books or in dungeons and dragons, where they just lie on the ground under their cloak around the embers of a fire but that doesn't really work when you have kids who are frightened of ants and a wife who is accustomed to warmth and comfort
Yes camping always seemed more fun in those types of scenarios, even in Lord of the Rings with the threat of black riders, there was something more exciting about it.
I used to enjoy camping when the kids were young but nowadays I think I like the idea rather than the reality, last couple of trips I have gone home after the second day. 😟
Oh my days, if my sleep was disturbed by a mouse I don't think I'd ever sleep again. I hate camping so hard. I've only ever camped once and that was at V2000. It was awful-it rained both nights and both mornings I woke up with my cheek stuck to the side of the tent.
I am such a light sleeper the slightest thing wakes me up. It was nice listening to the sound of the sea while I was in my tent though. I kept thinking about the people who go camping in Canada where there are BEARS!
@@cdwc Honestly, I'd rather be killed by a bear than have a mouse or a rat anywhere near me. Haha! I know what you mean though, they must be hardcore over there.
I would have been more worried about those cliffs collapsing than the werewolves where you camped. I quite like camping, but must have a proper toilet nearby. Did you manage to suitably relieve yourself, or held it all in until you got home?
I also came here a few weeks ago and saw people using the beach huts that looked abandoned, they looked very dodgy, not sure if this is a known bembridge thing

Have a good weekend's camping cool dude.
The Princess Bride. Always a good choice.
I love camping, an as for what's wrong with me, there's too many things too mention! 😆
Nice one cool dude, love to see more of you camping, you never know, might get lucky one night and turn into a werewolf 😉
Take care
Wishing you all the best
D & B 👍
Thanks cool dude. Sadly I am not a fan of camping. Maybe I'll try it again this year.
I hate camping. There is still lots wrong with me but that is the one thing I got right! Great pics, good book choice and big thumbs up for swimwear Marek's!
I will have to make more of the swimwear Mareks. Ha.
what a cool dude
We borrowed a family members tent, pitched in an empty plot on a camping field! Went to have dinner out, came back to find the family nearby had run over our tent with a car and witnesses were very pleased we wasnt in it!!! The family denied it, but consequently apologized 😮 we had to replace the tent! No compensation for us! Since then we purchased a motor home and then that led to being full time vanlifers ❤
Wow. That is a true camping nightmare cool dudes.
Love the camping, you could do some two day walks this way
I think I would be too broken after one night of poor sleep to walk more than a mile. Ha.
YAAASSSS Cool Dudes Camping Club has another member. Those beach huts look very safe. Man you should sell/prize draw prints of the cartoon cutaway drawings I love them. This was my favourite episode this year.
Thanks cool dude. I thought you would appreciate a camping one. There are lots of cartoons in my next zine/comic about the Avebury Stones.
I really enjoyed the bloodshot mouse fear eyes in the second half.
Love camping/wild camping - in fact going to Scotland tomorrow to walk a coastal path and wild camp along the way - you should do it more - cheers
Good luck cool dude.
The sound of badgers would definitely keep me awake. Ha.
Cool Dude, you make me watch this when I should be working. Have you got anything to say for yourself? Also, that creepy voyeur would have freaked me out too.
Yes love camping 😂😂
How does anyone sleep?
That was a brave thing to do Marek. Given the amount of supernatural activity on the IOW, I'd have been awake all night worrying about grey ladies. I'm not surprised you didn't get any sleep!
I have probably turned into a ghost without realising.
As my grandfather would say
“Rough business at Blackrock”
(Marek’s camping location)
Yeah, camping can do one, basically. I last went in the 90s with two friends from college. We took the hydrofoil to the Isle of Wight (funnily enough) and walked from Cowes to Wootton. We set the tent up and then gale force winds that evening practically destroyed it. We returned to the mainland the following day, with our tails between our legs.
Still, the sunset and sunrise looked superb and that tent looked relatively resilient compared to ours. What next in the series of doing stuff you hate? Partying with pigeons?
Don't talk to me about pigeons.
I’ve only been camping 4 times; the first two occasions were with mates in our late
teens and my lingering memories of those trips were having cold tinned tomato soup for breakfast in the first trip (we kept our money aside for the pub) and finding a dead wasp in a can of nearly empty lager.
I am with you. I have never enjoyed a single camping experience.
I’ve only recently discovered your channel and absolutely love it so am suitably relieved you didn’t get eaten by werewolves/rabid badgers/mice etc. Stay cool Marek 👍
Thanks cool dude.
What a bijou location! Love it.
My last camping was a disaster, stormy and the rain and mud flowed into my tent . I will try again one day
We are braving camping again this year......in Cornwall for 10 nights and wondering what the chuff we've signed up for as we used to do it all the time in our 20s and 30s with two kids.......but not looking forward to it now in our 40s with two tech mad teens and fussy eaters 😂😂😂😂😂 but trying to tell ourselves 'a camping holiday is better than no holiday'......we'll see if we make it! Lol great video as always, BRILLIANT werewolf drawings 😂 and we won't mention the mouse no.......we once got shifted up by a vole eating our loaf at 3am so your secrets safe with us! 😂😂😂 #staycool
10 NIGHTS CAMPING!?! Good luck. I hope the weather is good for all you cool dudes.
Never done a wild camp, but me and my 5 year old son love a weekend away in the tent. Very much a fair weather camper though with impromptu bookings weather dependent
Well done Carlos and thanks for the video
Carlos just texted me. He is best pleased.
I hate tents due to the bug infestation by the morning. But i go camping in a VW van (hire) and thats almost acceptabel
Good video, reassures me, i am right in the above
That VW camping sounds one hundred times better cool dude.
I enjoy pitching my tent in public too
Your tent pole is at a funny angle.
Amazing how a few lardons will transform fruity couscous into bolognese! 😉
It was delicious.
Speaking of nifty, nice keyboard playing at the end there 👍🏻
That is probably the easiest song to play and I still messed it up. Ha.
Beautiful photos, Dude
Thanks cool dude.
I enjoy wild camping
Ha. Maybe one day.
Planning on doing the same soon but also link in with the island costal walk.
Good luck cool dude.
Everything you say here is exactly right.
Could have jazzed it up a bit by pitching the tent on the beach and hoping the tide wouldn't take you away. Closest I ever got to camping was watching Larry Grayson on the Generation Game and Dale on Supermarket Sweep back in the day...........
SHUT THAT DOOR!
Still looked really great. I used to use filters a lot on my Olympus. The starburst was one of my favourites especially on water shots
Thanks cool dude and thanks for being a member of the club.
I love wild camping it fun
You should come a long marek ..
I just watched your video Bob. I can't believe you sleep under a tarp!!!
@@cdwc don’t forget hammock lol 😂 I do tent camp but my old tent is so heavy (25years old) I need to update one more lightweight one
Ha. My count as semi-working holidays.
Welcome to the wild camping club, Marek! Usually they say you need to be above 1000ft in England and Wales, but I reckon the beach is fair game (if you’re away from people). Shame about the mouse, but nice work on the sunrise
Oh and check out @foragebox for my own wild camping adventures cool dude
Cool will check it out cool dude.
Literally the only time I camp is because I'm at a music festival and my reward for having to persevere with a horrible dome of cold (my tent) is the fact that I get to see some cool bands
The noise at music festivals is too much for me.
I love the idea of camping, the actual act of camping can go do one - that is unless you love getting delirious after a combination of lack of sleep and being utterly uncomfortable.
Nice to see Holly from Red Dwarf making an appearance at 04:29
You are correct the idea of camping is better than camping. The idea of Aliens attacking is better than camping.
Hi cool dude! Do you send merchandise to Germany? I fear the postage would be more than the items😮
Yes I will send stuff to Germany. I think there is an extra charge factored in on the website.
@@cdwcThanks cool dude!
Well done Carlos! Swimsuit Mareks are great. Will there be An Attempt At Wild Swimming video coming soon?
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY WILD SWIMMING!
@@cdwc Hahaha!
I camped sometimes with my parents in the 60'es and I liked it then. But as an adult I haven't camped more than one night and that was at a campsite in 1997. I still have the tent but I can never manage to make up my mind to go camping....
Only camp if you have the next day off to recover. That is my motto.
@@cdwc 😂
I was sure I would win this time. Damn you Carlos, damn your black eyes.
Carlos does have shark eyes, you are right.
I would be interested to try camper vans to see if they are better.
Car camping is definitely nicer than real camping cool dude.
I've liked camping for 50+ years. What's wrong with me? I'm an introvert (Hell is other people!).
I can't sleep on the build up to a full moon. The 48hours before I feel stressed and feel like I want to go running into the wilderness. As soon as the moon hits 100% full I feel fine again. This is a completely true story... but probably something similar is the origins of the werewolf stories.
It definitely sounds as though you may have been by a werewolf or at the very least you've gotten off with one.
We like camping CD, we did a bit in Canada and surprisingly you forget about all of the bears and wolfs in the great outdoors and just sleep. Puts your mouse to shame
I am the first person who has survived the mouse and is able to talk about it.
Very glad the werewolf didn't disturb you😅
Thanks cool dude.
I was all up for my own solo camping expedition til u mentioned the creepy person watching your tent 😱 other than that, it looked pretty fun! And those wandering chef meals look great... AND vegan 💚 proper handy
I don’t like camping btw, to answer your question, so why I’m suddenly considering it after your vid, I hav no idea ! 🤦🏻♀️ Guess u hav a way of making it look glamourous, Marek! 😂
The person staring at my tent for ages sort of ruined it for me, as I could only see their shadow.
Its a pity pigeons aren’t out at night 😏😉 stay cool 👍🏼
I love camping but on my adventure last week (110 miles cycling on King Alfreds Way) i used Air BnB’s to save on weight
That sounds like an incredible trip, was it mainly off road. I would love to try a cycle adventure.
@@cdwc yes mostly on bridle ways and very quiet road, it was hard work and I have a large bruise from the first time I fell off or it might have been the third time 🙄

I love camping but you missed all the best bits: campfire, toasted marsh mallows, camp stove so you can have a brew at dawn and your favourite snacks
I completely forgot the marshmellows. Although I don't like going to bed smelling of smoke.
Ha ha. The Jersey comment made me laugh cool dude.
I hate camping. I don't think I have ever slept more than an hour or two when trying to camp. Fortunately I haven't been camping for at least a decade after being kept awake all night by cuckoos at the Big Sands campsite at Gairloch. I hope that Carlos enjoys the prizes. Stay cool
I think you have to be one of those people who can sleep anywhere to enjoy camping.
Hmm, I always like the idea of camping primarily for the sense of isolation and connection to nature, but the reality of my camping has just been at festivals which has been anything but. I'm also concerned about how I'd fare solo wild camping, especially since when I saw your campsite my first thought was "oh that's great, if he needs to poo he can do it down one of those big cracks" (I think I thought it would sort of disappear into an abyss and save you having to dig a hole and bury it)
If I made a video of myself trying to poo down the crack it would probably get more views. Ha.
Also, I never said you should film it...
Hi Marek, you should try a wild camp with @stepawayfromthescreens .... you out with Lee and Martin would be the funniest thing on youtube!
I saw him in a Newport car park. He seems like a lovely man. I think I am more of a solitary walker though.
I love camping but my wife hates it so I never get to do it 😢
Solitude is grossly underrated.
Solitude is the best.
I do like camping but it's been a long time since I've been and there are so many things wrong with me.
I think the older you get the more you hate camping. Ha.
@@cdwc I'm probably about your age and you're probably right.
Oh no. This has put me off camping forever!
You should speak to Step away from the screens. He lives on the island and is a dab hand at wild camping a good bloke too.
I saw him in his van. He has an excellent channel and seems like a great bloke. I am more of a solitary hiker though cool dude.
My answer is yes and allsorts
I used to enjoy camping when the kids were young but nowadays I think I like the idea rather than the reality, last couple of trips I have gone home after the second day. 😟
These are the words of a sensible wise man.
I mean, I know you hated it but I think you should do some more camping videos. Next, starting a fire from scratch.
Oh no. I am literally creating my own nightmare of a camping channel.
Annoying about the mouse (closest mouselike emoji) but it was a pretty nice sunrise/ morning. I think I like camping until I actually do it 😅
The idea of camping is eight million times better than camping.
I'm not camp and never have been ducky !
I would have been more worried about those cliffs collapsing than the werewolves where you camped. I quite like camping, but must have a proper toilet nearby. Did you manage to suitably relieve yourself, or held it all in until you got home?
I think I was only out for about eight hours in total, so was able to get by cool dude.
RABID BADGER!!!!!!
I like watching Steve Wallis, but otherwise I don't like camping because bears
In the news today there was a story about a lady sadly being killed by a bear.
I also came here a few weeks ago and saw people using the beach huts that looked abandoned, they looked very dodgy, not sure if this is a known bembridge thing
Was it a Were-mouse?
This is a very good point.
Nope, absolutely hate camping. Even in a camper. Nothing can make up for not being able to sleep in my own bed.
I am in total agreement with you.
