Five things you can "FAKE" with a Digitech Whammy V (gear hacks)

    This ia a quick demo of a Whammy V standing in for five other pieces:
    a chorus pedal,
    a bass guitar,
    a vibrato tailpiece,
    a multi-octave pedal,
    and a B-bender.
    NOTE: I don't spend much time here on the "main" Whammy sound, since I've touched on it in several other videos. If you'd like to hear the Whammy at its Whammy-est, I recommend Audioslave's "Like a Stone" be the next video you watch! Digitech should build a statue of Tom Morello outside of their main offices.
    All music played on my Fender American Standard Stratocaster loaded with the Seymour Duncan "Everything Axe" set.
    Thanks for watching! If you would be so kind as to like, comment, and subscribe, I'd really appreciate it!

    Nice demo, Too many people dismiss the Whammy pedal as a gimmick or buy one and do not use it creatively but when you explore it there are many things that can be done with it. I own a Whammy DT which also has the extra pitch shifting intervals and these can also be used with the Whammy effects too which really increases the possibilities.

    • @S19NALC14AIN
      @S19NALC14AIN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking it out! I'd really like to get ahold of a Whammy DT. The pitch shifting at any half step interval would knock out most of my need for a capo, which is and of itself would be huge!

      Basically right up front. I like to run it before dirt (seems less harsh) and before my delays and so forth. I basically just keep a buffer and volume pedal in front of it.

      Davidsgrunge thank you so much! As far as a first modulation pedal, I'd have to recommend starting with a phaser. Mine is a Blackout Effectors Whetstone, and it is full of features and does several other effects. I love it! But if space is an issue, you'd be in great hands with an MXR Phase 90 or Phase 95. Hope that helps!

    How are you eliminating extra noise when combining all of these pedals? My old Les Paul with P-90s can't take any compression or dirt pedal I've tried without producing a ton of noise.

    • @S19NALC14AIN
      @S19NALC14AIN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mr G I've got single-size humbuckers in my Strat. That helps a lot. Also, the pedals I use almost all have surprisingly low noise floors (the Erupter Fuzz and the Custom Comp probably being the loudest).

    • @infn8loopmusic
      @infn8loopmusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      P90s being a single coil will always have hum unless they're run together out of phase to cancel out the hum like a humbuckers does. Many newer guitars wire single coil pickups this way so when you combine them you lose the hum but can still use the single coils and get that nice twangy quack sound.

    • @erikwarendorph782
      @erikwarendorph782 ปีที่แล้ว

      @aleaudioguitar -- (Sorry, late to the party ...)
      Unfortunately, you can't tune a half step down directly using the Whammy 5. But (in Whammy mode) you can select "2ND DOWN" (a whole step down), and then tune it a half step up with a capo (on the first fret), resulting in a half step down (for toe down on the pedal).
      Not sure if that was helpful (and/or a bit late), though ...

I know the Whammy, PS6, OC3 and most "pitch shifting" pedals prefer the volume maxed for effect - so I'll try again tonight. This is what happens when you're not playing shows because of the quarantine. Thanks again for your kindness and for showing us how it's done!

      Thanks! The rhythm guitar at that point is using the shallow detune setting, and the lead is using the Down a 4th setting. I believe the lead is also running through my Moog MF Drive, but I can't remember exactly how I had that one set. The swells are the Down a 4th/Down a 3rd setting and my BOSS FV-30H volume pedal. The bass line is in the Down and Octave Whammy setting. The last part that comes in is Octave up setting with the sample and hold mode on my Spatial Delivery. Thanks for watching!
