Why am I not convinced at all? If a gimbal can't shoot stable footage, then what's the point of it? The footage shot by my phone even looks better than this.
And the phone gimbals are almost constantly on sale somewhere priced under 100€. The software is garbage on android in true china style on dji osmo mobile 2 but stabilization is great.
Great video. You should do a comparison video between the Fimi Palm and the Feiyu Tech pocket, as they both have similar features, viewing angles and infinity focus. I don't believe either can really be compared to DJI Osmo pocket as the video out of them is more like an action cam.
If we compare this to the DJI Osmo Pocket early editions of Hyperlapse - it is quite good. I can easily share something similar shot with the Pocket which looks way worse. Generally - the GoPro's timewarp feature is unbeatable.

Does it have a dash cam mount option? Does it stay on when plugged into a computer instead of going into file transfer mode? Can you drive it via USB from a computer? Is there a computer version of the smart phone app?
I had a feyiutech gimbal. I returned it. It was terrible. That shake in this video is one thing mine suffered from. I used it for an action cam. Go with palm or dji.
It really depends on what you are looking for. In terms of video quality, I think the Osmo Pocket stands out; The Fimi Palm is next, and the Feiyu Pocket was not too great. in terms of stabilization - it has to catch up and |I hope to see some firmware updates to improve the performance.

A lot if people keep asking about the lowlight. Here are the specs. The DJI has a bigger sensor 1/2.3 and an aperture of f2.0. The Feiyu camera has a 1/2.5 sensor and aperture of f2.8. Also, all the light coming in from a wide field of view has to make into the sensor. Its better quality to have a smaller field of view in low light. If you want better low light use a slower frame rate and lower your shutter speed and try to keep the ISO low.
Looks like the stabilization does not compare and both the Osmo and Fimi’s picture looks better. Also lacking the joystick of the Fimi among other features lacking.

the quality is the same as the action camera..dji is better..focal point is subjective..those who wants to vlog then yes go for bigger focal point..those who wants to shoot a cinematic or short movie..go for dji.
footage is way too wobbly, I presume that will get fixed in firmware. When are one of these companies going to release a 1 inch sensor pocket gimbal with 10 bit and a log profile? Maybe put a f1.6 lens in there and PDAF to get some depth of field too

Tech4all, what are YOUR thoughts on the video sharpness? I see a lot of haters in here saying Fimi and others are better but I don't see it. Maybe it's me, but in particular the 4K 30 shots and when you put a side by side against the Gopro Hero 8,they looked quite good and compared to the Gopro I thought image quality was pretty close, how do you see it?
Purely about image quality - I think it's good. GoPro footage often looks too sharp, while the Feiyu was a little more natural. But when we add the wobbling effect visible sometimes - it ruins that pleasure. This is why my hope is to see significant improvement with the stabilizing algorithm; It is a little disappointing to see GoPro having better stabilization in similar conditions. The DJI Osmo Pocket is still fantastic, and if we exclude stabilization - I'd rank them like that: 1. Osmo Pocket; 2. Feiyu Pocket; 3. Fimi Palm
Tech4All I just check the data sheet of the iCatch chip the feiyu pocket uses, the 4k 60 fps is not native, or you can say it’s fake, must be jpeg codec or interpolation. Also I found the menu is totally coped from osmo, including the package, name, surely their designers are lazy guys,lol.

I'm surprised Feiyu Tech let you show video from this camera with this early version of the firmware. Some companies let people have the product to review but now show the footage until their firmware is fixed, i.e. Insta360 One R. It really doesn't work well in the stabilization department. Maybe I missed it but did you run the hybrid feature for EIS and mechanical stability together? Nothing I saw looked any better than the early Fimi Palm software. I love Feiyu products and have owned 2 of their gimbals. I hope that they improve the firmware before they roll this out.
I have asked them numerous things and sent them quite a long list with improvement suggestions and they have gone silent; not sure if they have temporarily stopped working, or something happened because of COVID-19; I also like their gear a lot. Insta360 OneR's decision was quite bizarre though - here's the camera, but you cannot see how it works... :D Feiuy Tech can still use the situation and make a comparison - like "look at where we were, and how much we have improved". Fingers crossed!

I love Feiyutech brand. It is really cool.I have their old product G6MAX and glad to see their new product Feiyutech pocket. It is with almost same feature and function like DJI osmo but with a so attractive price.
Perhaps you mean the 60FPS in 4K; Well - if it is supported, then likely the processor is better. Both the FImi and Feiyu tools are good; I find the joystick on the Fimi really useful.

Feiyu being Bluetooth does allow for external microphone 🎤 isn't it ? You could Bluetooth something like galaxy buds which are Bluetooth 5.0 so you will have clear sound which you can listen to whilst recording through the galaxy buds
was really anticipating a better vid pocket to my osmo pocket, osmo pocket video quality is still the best. Just wish the osmo had the wifi build in, oh well back to osmo pocket. thanks for the video though
Seems like Feiyu is stealing everything from DJI, from product design to marketing pitches, they even copy the bgm and idea of DJI's commericial video… Won't be surpirsed to see DJI take legal action against this company before long. And then this would probably be the last Feiyu pocket you'd get. I'd say hold yur horses before you waste your money on this.

Having looked at the reviews of the Palm and Snoppa VMate, also, the question is whether it's possible to make a fully-featured pocket gimbal-cam for much less than the price of the Osmo Pocket. So far, it seems not.
I'm not going to knock the Feiyu, but...I have the Osmo pocket and it is very, very good. I have seen a few comparison videos and they tend to mark the Osmo down for having a narrower field of view, for me this is one of the plus points of the Osmo. I tend to use the camera for more distant/landscape shooting, the narrow field of view really comes into its own for this. The focus is also very sharp and stills look great. My only real gripe I have with the Osmo is that it has no lanyard attachment point, a silly omittance for an action camera. The cheaper option is not always the best was to go.

I’ve taken a chance and even though it’s only on pre-sale order most places (B&H) I’ve purchased this Feiyu Tech 4K direct from the Feiyu Tech website today for US$249 including free shipping to Australia and it’s been shipped same day with DHL tracking. Slightly smaller sensor than the Osmo Pocket 1/ 2.5” v 1/ 2.3” and lower bit rate 80Mb/s v 100Mb/s and missing the joystick of the cheaper Fimi Palm but I’m still hopeful that their expertise in gimbals will prove good with the production model. Fingers crossed. Osmo Pocket has problems at launch but fixed later in firmware updates. These days it seems the way that firmware is undercooked at launch
It is a little jittery, true. And it's not that sharp - but this is more of a preference. Many people prefer softer footage. Bitrate is really good and you can make a lot of post-production adjustments, which is good. But I also think the FImi shows better performance when it comes to stabilization and shooting.
if Feiyu makes Feiyu Pocket with 1 inch sensor (like Sony ZV-1's sensor), i'm pretty sure it will be game changer in entire vlogging camera industry. Integrated camera-gimbal system like Feiyu/DJI Pocket is amazing solution for vlogging in easiest way.
Sensor is 8mp - the stability appears to improve with the "stability prioritization" mode which crops the 120° to 80° gobbling pixels up from the 4K res to be able to shift the picture around quickly enough. If 4K is 100% then going from 120° to 80° means a 33 1/3% reduction in pixels. That leaves effective resolution after proper electronic stabilization heading a fair number towards the 2.7K mark.. Points to why the Fimi Palm and others are using 12mp sensors eh..FW update will not conjure up more pixels in the sensor. They could perhaps lower the % used for stabilization and optimize code so it works better but it still means cropping away from 4K.
Even with larger gimbals like the Osmo Mobile 3 they state enable your mounted device's stabilisation for optimal results. Same difference as with this; image judder as the gimbal struggles.. it cannot move up and down left and right - just point in those directions around rotational axes and it has limits speed wise. Electronic stabilisation adds to the response time - but you get this weird effect sometimes where the foreground objects seem to be detached from the background motion wise. Still a nice device though ^^ and wish I had one to play with.. Besides being a teacher to my son these days we also need fún things to do. Like making Lego movies ^^

1. Around a foot 2. No official answer yet. CUrrently doesn't seem to be possible 3. Not that I know... Only Type C port. I don't know if a conversion cable will be released and whether it is physically supported.
I will see how's the real performance of Feiyu pocket. More competitors, anyway, are better for this market. But now, compared with osmo pocket, i still think that FIMI palm is the most cost effective choice. I am pretty satisfied with its joystick design, stabilization and wide angle camera.
Awesome video. But i dont think go pro 's legendary design can b replaced. They are super versatile cameras and their revolutionary compact and mini tank like design can withstand abuse. The gimble is good but one fall can damage it, they can't be placed on helmet, not waterproof.... Good for vlog though

Looks like the supremacy of the Osmo Pocket is coming to the end, first the FIMi Palm and now the Feiyu, both are nice and cheaper than the osmo pocket...well, the time will tell.
For what it's worth, the later firmware levels (1.7.8 and then 1.8.3) for the Feiyu Pocket removed the quality vs smooth gimbal option - and as a result, 4K video appears to be cropped to approx. 2.7K and then upscaled back to 4K. So technically, right now it doesn't do 4K. You can see this by switching between photo and video modes. The "4K" quality is just terrible - and you lose the 120 deg FOV. Feiyu did a great job on the hardware design, but the firmware needs a lot of work. If they can get the video back to using the full sensor & improve the stability, this thing would be killer.
Yeah, that's the thing with choosing 8MP sensor - if you crop part of the image, you lose the 4K. I have installed it recenly, but haven't tested much. Thanks a lot for the summary!
@@TechMishka The 8MP vs 12MP initially bothered me, but I think the sensor that Feiyu used is the Sony 8.51MP IMX274 - which is a 16:9 sensor - ie: 3864 (H) x 2202 (V). The 12MP sensor that others seem to be using is 4:3 - ie: 4000 x 3000. If you crop that to 16:9 for video, you're at roughly 4000 x 2250 - which puts you in the same ballpark as the Feiyu. Regardless, the others still seem to be able to produce smooth 4K video, without EIS. It seems to me like Feiyu is having problems getting their mini gimbal to work properly. Time will tell. Again, the hardware is really nice. I hope they figure it out!

It was the standard behavior of the camera in these conditions in Auto mode with the initial firmware release. Hopefully this will get better.

It has no clip, but has a strap option and a mount option.
GoPro and Osmo action are both fantastic action cameras too.

You can do that, yeah. But is not designed for that purpose.
There is no option to control it via USB from the PC.

Right now the Fimi Palm seems to offer better image quality. I hope the Feiyu pocker will get significantly better after firmware updates.

Perhaps you mean the 60FPS in 4K; Well - if it is supported, then likely the processor is better. Both the FImi and Feiyu tools are good; I find the joystick on the Fimi really useful.

Feiyu being Bluetooth does allow for external microphone 🎤 isn't it ? You could Bluetooth something like galaxy buds which are Bluetooth 5.0 so you will have clear sound which you can listen to whilst recording through the galaxy buds
Didn't make anything external run so far. Let's hope the latest firmware that I got last week will make things right.

Seems like Feiyu is stealing everything from DJI, from product design to marketing pitches, they even copy the bgm and idea of DJI's commericial video… Won't be surpirsed to see DJI take legal action against this company before long. And then this would probably be the last Feiyu pocket you'd get. I'd say hold yur horses before you waste your money on this.

Having looked at the reviews of the Palm and Snoppa VMate, also, the question is whether it's possible to make a fully-featured pocket gimbal-cam for much less than the price of the Osmo Pocket. So far, it seems not.
Yup - pretty impossible.
I'm not going to knock the Feiyu, but...I have the Osmo pocket and it is very, very good. I have seen a few comparison videos and they tend to mark the Osmo down for having a narrower field of view, for me this is one of the plus points of the Osmo. I tend to use the camera for more distant/landscape shooting, the narrow field of view really comes into its own for this. The focus is also very sharp and stills look great. My only real gripe I have with the Osmo is that it has no lanyard attachment point, a silly omittance for an action camera. The cheaper option is not always the best was to go.
Agree with what you say. I also find the Osmo Pocket more cinematic and feels much more polished overall.

I’ve taken a chance and even though it’s only on pre-sale order most places (B&H) I’ve purchased this Feiyu Tech 4K direct from the Feiyu Tech website today for US$249 including free shipping to Australia and it’s been shipped same day with DHL tracking. Slightly smaller sensor than the Osmo Pocket 1/ 2.5” v 1/ 2.3” and lower bit rate 80Mb/s v 100Mb/s and missing the joystick of the cheaper Fimi Palm but I’m still hopeful that their expertise in gimbals will prove good with the production model. Fingers crossed.
Osmo Pocket has problems at launch but fixed later in firmware updates. These days it seems the way that firmware is undercooked at launch
Yeah, I also think this will improve significantly in the next weeks. Feiyu Tech is a company with great experience about stabilization.

It is a little jittery, true. And it's not that sharp - but this is more of a preference. Many people prefer softer footage. Bitrate is really good and you can make a lot of post-production adjustments, which is good. But I also think the FImi shows better performance when it comes to stabilization and shooting.
@@TechMishka it's not a matter of preference, this is an issue with lens or focus (look left side). Very disappointed, especially for that price.
yes, also ultra wide, so a GoPro or Dji Osmo Action offer similar FoV, water resistance, more durable package. not impressed by this.

It can shoot in portrait mode. There's option to mount tripod. No external wireless mic though.
Sensor is 8mp - the stability appears to improve with the "stability prioritization" mode which crops the 120° to 80° gobbling pixels up from the 4K res to be able to shift the picture around quickly enough. If 4K is 100% then going from 120° to 80° means a 33 1/3% reduction in pixels. That leaves effective resolution after proper electronic stabilization heading a fair number towards the 2.7K mark.. Points to why the Fimi Palm and others are using 12mp sensors eh..FW update will not conjure up more pixels in the sensor. They could perhaps lower the % used for stabilization and optimize code so it works better but it still means cropping away from 4K.
That's an interesting observation, and could be the case. Question is why the mechanical stabilization itself is not good enough...
Even with larger gimbals like the Osmo Mobile 3 they state enable your mounted device's stabilisation for optimal results. Same difference as with this; image judder as the gimbal struggles.. it cannot move up and down left and right - just point in those directions around rotational axes and it has limits speed wise. Electronic stabilisation adds to the response time - but you get this weird effect sometimes where the foreground objects seem to be detached from the background motion wise.
Still a nice device though ^^ and wish I had one to play with.. Besides being a teacher to my son these days we also need fún things to do. Like making Lego movies ^^

Great price. Good build. Walking video looks a bit too wobbly for my liking. Can’t wait for 2nd gen of these devices.
There already is a firmware update which improves a lot the stabilization.
I will see how's the real performance of Feiyu pocket. More competitors, anyway, are better for this market. But now, compared with osmo pocket, i still think that FIMI palm is the most cost effective choice. I am pretty satisfied with its joystick design, stabilization and wide angle camera.

But i dont think go pro 's legendary design can b replaced. They are super versatile cameras and their revolutionary compact and mini tank like design can withstand abuse. The gimble is good but one fall can damage it, they can't be placed on helmet, not waterproof....

There aren't too many choices for this form factor. Each one of these is fine. I still use the Osmo Pocket most often.

Looks like the supremacy of the Osmo Pocket is coming to the end, first the FIMi Palm and now the Feiyu, both are nice and cheaper than the osmo pocket...well, the time will tell.

For what it's worth, the later firmware levels (1.7.8 and then 1.8.3) for the Feiyu Pocket removed the quality vs smooth gimbal option - and as a result, 4K video appears to be cropped to approx. 2.7K and then upscaled back to 4K. So technically, right now it doesn't do 4K. You can see this by switching between photo and video modes. The "4K" quality is just terrible - and you lose the 120 deg FOV. Feiyu did a great job on the hardware design, but the firmware needs a lot of work. If they can get the video back to using the full sensor & improve the stability, this thing would be killer.
Yeah, that's the thing with choosing 8MP sensor - if you crop part of the image, you lose the 4K. I have installed it recenly, but haven't tested much. Thanks a lot for the summary!
@@TechMishka The 8MP vs 12MP initially bothered me, but I think the sensor that Feiyu used is the Sony 8.51MP IMX274 - which is a 16:9 sensor - ie: 3864 (H) x 2202 (V). The 12MP sensor that others seem to be using is 4:3 - ie: 4000 x 3000. If you crop that to 16:9 for video, you're at roughly 4000 x 2250 - which puts you in the same ballpark as the Feiyu. Regardless, the others still seem to be able to produce smooth 4K video, without EIS. It seems to me like Feiyu is having problems getting their mini gimbal to work properly. Time will tell. Again, the hardware is really nice. I hope they figure it out!
