Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed them. These Button Shy games were the original reason I started a channel, and I continue to enjoy them and they make for quick easy videos, so they will definitely continue!
Glad you enjoyed it! I've been busy with a bunch of other games, but I've got Wonder Tales, Spaceshipped, and The Second Most Perfect Moment on the pile to hopefully get to sometime soon.
My favorite Button Shy game! :) It was fortunate that so many of the different situations just showed up in your play through, which helped with the explanations. I had a few comments while watching, but I think they were generally addressed a little later in the video, so I don't think they're worth mentioning. The one thing I might suggest is not grouping cards together if they're not actually confined, just to help avoid possible confusion during the refresh phase. I'm glad you mentioned the expansions, because they're worth getting. (This is true for all Button Shy games with expansions.) Here are a few notes on them for you. Tops generally help by giving you more ways to confine quarks. If you don't confine them, you have to discard them, but they stay in the game. FWIW, I almost always play with Tops because they complete the set of quark flavors. Bosons and Gluons change quark flavors and colors, respectively, on you, so they tend to make the game harder. Since I like a somewhat easier game, I rarely use these. Colliders offer variation by tweaking the rules. For example, one changes the winning condition to making a tetraquark instead of a pentaquark. I don't normally use these either, so I can't really say how they affect the game difficulty overall, but by adding variety they help further increase replayability.
James M. Thanks for the comment! I agree about not grouping the free quarks, but there wasn’t a ton of room on screen, so I was mostly trying to fit everything in. And yeah, I was pretty psyched that so many different specific cases came up naturally and also that I was able to show a win! Can’t wait to try out all the expansions. I actually wouldn’t mind a bit more challenging occasionally, so Bosons and Gluons also sound interesting.
@@PurpleMoosePlays I thought you might have been grouping cards to save space for the video, which is understandable. The Bosons and Gluons are definitely interesting. They're treated similarly to Annihilate cards for getting them into play. An important aspect of them is that you can double them up on a single card (e.g., to change a quark to one thing then back to the original), and when this happens, you have multiple options for how to handle the doubled-up Bosons/Gluons, offering different ways to manage those cards.
Great playthrough video! Do you still plan on recording playthroughs with the expansions? I have them all, but haven’t played with them yet. Plus, now there is the new campaign mode which uses all of them!
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video! My channel is actually on hiatus for a bit, and wasn't thinking about returning to this, but with the new campaign mode, if I have some time at some point, I might do something now.
I need to try it again. I might be combining color/flavor in my mind and then finding it difficult to see a solution. I already have some expansions, but are unopened. My recent ButtonShy carry bag holds this game and a handful of others as well as "oh my goods" and "innovation" - making a great travel pack (whenever we can travel again...). I really appreciate that your videos are "expert" videos.
Still waiting for my bag, very excited! I hope another play helps for you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video, but not sure I'd call myself anything close to an expert, heh.
I love how many card game reviews you do! Most reviews focus too much on big box board games. This is a breath of fresh air in comparison!

So glad I watched this! I played it so very wrongly last night. I look forward to your next Button Shy game play through.

Great explanation and play thru. Thank you!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!

Awesome video!! Hoping to see more of your videos soon! 😎
Thanks! Been on hiatus since June when our daughter was born. If all goes as planned I'll be back at some level next month!

I've just learned to play this game. I was wondering if you had the chance to play the expansions and if you are planing to make a video about ithem.
Sorry, I did play the expansions, but ended up reading the game away, so there won't be any follow up video.

Hi, did you play the Pantaquark expansions yet? I was looking for your video on them (you said you would report back). Hope to see it soon!
Sorry, I played them a little, but actually it's been a very long time and I don't have the game anymore...
