Really nicely done playthrough. A nice thing to watch while sleeving Keep the Heroes Out cards (I got the game two days ago). I noticed two pretty big rule errors - warriors may never destroy books. You even mentioned it, but some time later you removed books from the board by the warrior. The second one was, that the term "dungeon" means every single room on the board. The room with the main treasure is called "vault". So the only way, how to open the library was to move all the book tokens to the library and the librarian would remove everything. So it is not enough to move the books to neighboring rooms.

Great review! I feel your pain on Red Raven not doing inserts. Sleeping Gods setup was impossible till I made my own quick setup insert.

I really like the look and feel of this game. Kind of reminds me of Habits, a 9 card grid that you use the cards to flip over to their good habit side vs the bad habit. If you've played that one, I'm curious what you think of comparing those games? Thanks for a great video!

Thank you so much for your review. I love your question about the leftover cards and "cheating". It was 100% a design choice to give you a clue about how much things is left for you to find. I play a lot of exploration video games and I find out, most of the time, that the hint system is lacking...so it's a way physical boardgames can give you hints without pointing directly at something. And yes, I learned to do 3D models with Cinema 4D expressly to design this game. Glad you enjoyed !!

Great vid as always - surprised by the upper banner on the tea cards being so similar both sides. Not sure if plan is to have the colours different alongside that icon but would seem to make sense as the number at bottom is a different colour on relaxed/focused?…

Thanks for the video! I was able to playtest this game a good amount and I really enjoyed this one. I can safely say this is my favorite out of all the 7 Simply Solo games. I can't wait to see more people enjoy this game. With your concern about the repetitiveness, 2 expansions were play tested, but we will have to see which of the 2 or both make it to the campaign.

is this comparable to Last Dungeon Pocket?

I tried the steam demo to try this system out. I thought it would be a quick and dirty afterthought of an app to see if they could do it. But holy cow is it an excellent very professional app. I will probably buy the full app when released instead of the book. Thanks for bringing such interesting games to light!

This must in all likelihood be the most crappy, flimsy implementation of a pnp ever. You didn't even bother to sleeve it. oh and I backed both seasons pnp level alright. But the mazes are soo hard.

Great video and quality content. Just discovered the game and ordered my copy. Having read the rulebook I am wondering about one thing though... action of boosting your cards -I think you have to commit your boost cards BEFORE the dice roll, not after?

Happy to hear you're planning to get more boxes. The real Final Girl experience begins with the first post-Hans scenario. Here's what I can tell you about the other six I own. 1) The Haunting of Creech Manor. You can't kill a ghost. I'll say no more. Almost a different game altogether. 2) Carnage at the Carnival. The killer here is a puppet master type. Introduces you to minions. Recommended mostly if you like a haunted carnival setting. 3) Frightmare on Maple Lane. This is obviously Final Girl's take on Freddy Krueger. Iconic and well-implemented. 4) Into the Void. This and the following ones are from Series 2, which is generally a step up in complexity. This is the Alien homage, a great scenario, another one that plays very differently from regular Final Girl. It ranks among the favorite of many players. 5) Panic at Station 2891. This is The Thing, borrowing both from the 1982 movie (hence the station's name) and the 2011 reboot, which is the one that has a final girl. Very cool box. 6) Madness in the Dark. My favorite. Haunted asylum, multiple killers and a power-up mechanic through self-medication. What not to love?

Some notes on the playthrough. Boy, that setup and first event were tough. You made one crucial mistake to your disadvantage at 29:40, Hans shouldn't have attacked there because the bear trap caused his turn to end immediately. You also forgot to check for maximum hand size all throughout, but I don't think it was ever an issue. Dead victims should go in the DEAD space on the board. Not frequently relevant, but sometimes the number of victim is used (or just to double check or to keep score). General tips (even if you probably already figured it all out by now!). Don't exhaust all your free cards in one turn, only to remain completely without any of them the next turn. The free cards are your main fuel. Not sure if you forgot, but you can trade cards for time before the planning phase, and if you trade zero-cost cards for one time each, you'll create a net gain. Pace yourself in general. A good rule of thumb is to end your turn before going under 3 time, unless strictly necessary. Pass the turn before spending all your time and/or all your cards. This game is less about luck than it looks (of course it's still massively about luck, which fits the theme, but it has a lot of hidden mitigations).

Ah, Final Girl at last! It took you a while to get it on the table. :) (Unless you prepare two months of videos ahead of time?) Great presentation. Keep in mind that Hans is a very basic killer, he's essentially used to introduce the game rules. Any other box changes the status quo in some way, sometimes radically. And by the way, you should open those envelopes. :) I put my notes to the playthrough on a different comment, to help your algorithm. :)

Great overview and playthrough. I've heard so much about this game but haven't looked into it until now, so this was really helpful for me. I can see why people like it - like you said, it seems to match the theme really well. Feeling helpless sometimes totally makes sense, and there are ways to mitigate die rolls, and ways to still take the action but at a higher cost. Really interesting game, thanks!

Thank you for this playthrough, I was looking forward to it! I bought this game a while ago and can't wait to give it a try. However, I might treat it as a beat-my-own-score because I feel the end of AI game scoring is somewhat unfair (from all the solo playthroughs I've seen, not just yours).

Nice video and review. I think you missed a rule. Instead of 2 coins, you can also purchase a card from shipyard by paying 1 coin and discarding 1 card from your hand into the shipyard.

I played this one last December when I did my World of Ulos showcase wall last December. While the game play of this one is good, overall as a solo game I felt it fell a bit flat. I felt like you had to force conflict in a solo game and you could go through the game without the conflict and I felt the conflict was a big part of the enjoyment of the game. Ive never played Acquire or knew anything about it really. I actually enjoy the solo mode for Lockup better.

The excessively large box makes me think that it is the same box as the Deluxe Edition which has a lot more components including a play mat, pencils of all players, a custom storage tray, and more paper. It might also have more room cards from the unlocked KS goals.
