Thank youvso much! We're working on some more Button Shy videos. We have a Tussie Mussie video and one for Skulls of Sedlec (both solo). I just have to convince Billie to play on camera!
Excellent video! I have all of the ones you presented plus a few more...love Button Shy. So happy to see them getting more buzz lately. It’s tough to pick a favorite, but I really like the puzzly ones. Would love to see some playthroughs, especially of the solo games.
I have a lot of solo fun playing Food Chain Island, Ugly Gryphon Inn and especially SpaceShipped. I have all FOUR expansions for that one and I really love how the multi-use cards provide so much variety... no two games are the same! I'm hoping Circle The Wagons shows up on your other Button Shy list, but I'm thinking of it now because I almost exclusively play it solo using the Lone Cowboy expansion. I prefer this over Sprawlopolis any day of the week! Great video! Well done!
@@SecondStartotheLeft - If you like Circle The Wagons and Sprawlopolis, may I recommend another small "box" game, even if it's not by Button Shy? Squire For Hire is another 18 card game that comes in a fold-up packet that doubles as the rules sheet. Like those other games it is a tile-laying inventory management game for 1-2 players that takes about 15-20 min to play. Players pick a character who is trying to earn the job of Squire working for a fantasy adventurer. They compete to get the best bag of items, winnings collected up from their would-be boss's quests, to get the highest score by the end of the story deck. The two tricks this game adds are 1) your character has special abilities that let you bend the rules or improve scoring in unique ways, and 2) to collect each item card you have to complete quests, which could involve having already collected enough of one catagory of treasure, or it could require you to cover up a treasure you've already collected. I really adore this one and hope you will check it out. It does not get enough love!
I thought I posted this last night, but must have forgotten to hit the post button or it is sitting in the comment section of some random video! But OMG such a great video! I love Button Shy games! I had to go pull out My Button Shy bag :) and count them. Looks like I have 21 right now! I think I have all the ones you showed except one. Pentaquark and Space Shipped were two of the first ones I bought that got me hooked! Love Food Chain Island! So simple yet a little complex. Easy to set up play and play again! Interesting note is that I bought Ragemore from watching Tikyjo! She did a solo playthrough and it hooked me. That is a great one! Ugly Gryphon Inn, lots of fun too. I still haven’t received my Unsurmountable Kickstarter yet but hopefully soon! And somehow I missed Rove! I need to check that out! Sounds great! I also like Circle The Wagons with Lone Cowboy, Skulls of Sedlec, Death Valley just to name a few. I am probably odd one out in that Sprawlopolis isn't one of my faves, but I do like it and yes I ordered Agropolis too :). One that I have really been enjoying lately is an oldie but goodie and that is Wonder Tales. There is a solo variant on BGG (by the designer I believe). Have you or Billie played that one? Great video! Can’t wait for the next Button Shy episode! I will stop rambling now! Save some for the next video :)
@@SecondStartotheLeft In Wonder Tales you take turns laying cards down in a single tableau. The characters are older fairy tale characters like Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Big Bad Wolf, etc. scoring is done by adjacency based on who wants to be by who, or can’t be by who or needs to be connected. It’s a fun a little quick game for two people but there is a solo variant on BGG. And UPDATE….I just got a notice today that my Unsurmountable shipped! WhooHoo 😁.
What a wonderful video! So engaging and personable. Subscribed! I recently have gotten really into Print and Play and love how Button shy have embraced the format. The small card count and beautiful artwork and design have made them very popular on the PnP community. Also they are always mentioned when people talk about digital card file formatting for ease of printing as they do it very very well. Worth mentioning in a later video if you haven't already. I'd imagine it gives this tiny company a much more international reach. They have a few PnP versions on their own site but have their entire PnP catalogue available on PnP arcade. Games are mostly 3 bucks, expansions 1. And like you, I do not work for button shy. I'm just a huge fan. The great thing about PnP. Is I can watch you talking about Count of Nine Estates this morning and despite being in Ireland, I will be playing my own copy this afternoon! Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much! 🧡 You made my morning. We love Button Shy and it's so great that PnP allows everyone to try it! Thank you for stopping by! Glad you're here!
Wow, I have been interested in trying some of these games. I don't solo play very often, mostly because of the amount of set up my bigger games require. I have, however, played Village Green and Walking in Burano a bunch. They don't require as much to set up and play quickly, having that familiar Solitaire card game feel. I've seen Maiden in the Forrest and thought it could be a good fit, but now seeing all of the other choices, I think I want to start elsewhere. If you are really considering doing some play throughs, I would love to see ROVE, Twin Stars, Count of Nine Estates and Ragemore.......no pressure though.😆 Thanks much!
These definitely are easier to set up and pay than some big games! I enjoyed Village Green too. We are talking about which playthroughs to do and the best way to make them fun. ROVE is top of the list!
Thank you for this presentation with suggestions! Recently, I ordered “Rove”. It looks like a winner. Also, I ordered “Liberation”, a two player game. Someone compared it to the very highly BGG rated “Star Wars Rebellion”, but MUCH shorter to finish in its streamlined format. It is not a Star Wars theme game, just to be clear.
Thanks for watching! We love Liberation. It's such fun. We included it in our other Button Shy video. They are one of our favorite publishers and we like being able to show them lots of love!
@@SecondStartotheLeft I am so happy you both turned me on to solo play games! I just ordered Pentaquark, food chain Island, Ugly Gryphon Inn and the PNP of Twin Stars! Can’t wait to play ❤️

Yay Button Shy! What a wonderful company full of amazing people! I don't do much solo gaming, but if I did, I'd pick up some Button Shy games for sure. Space Shipped, Count of the Nine Estates and Ugly Griffin Inn look the most interesting to me. How long have you been part of the monthly club? Back in 2017, my husband and I designed a postcard game for them called Flo'Busta that uses a basic deck of cards and was inspired by mechanisms in our card game Project Dreamscape.
@@SecondStartotheLeft I believe I tweeted a pic of it. I'll try to find it and send it to you on Twitter. I'd recommend you find a copy of Project Dreamscape cause it might be up your alley. It's a small box card game. And I prefer playing it solo. lol. But it's out of print. We've signed a contract with Thing 12 Games to reprint it, but the pandemic has delayed so much, I think it'll be a few more years before it possibly gets made.
Great choices! I'm going to cover those next video (and their solo mode). We're anxiously awaiting our Skulls expansions. They should be getting here soon!
Playthrough of all the solo games would be greatly appreciated and beneficial. I own most of these and video Playthroughs are always helpful and fun to watch. But if you only do a few banned books and pentaquark
