    If Christianity is to have a sensible future, it will be through the attitudes of people like April. Great interview. Magnificent attitudes April.

    67 years old here and I so much relate to the silent house story and certain I was left behind. I can still remember this after all these years. I have long away from this theology.

    Tim touched on the curse of Ham in a previous episode, but it really is summarized by what April heard the Baptist preacher say, "The color of sin is black." The theological implications of that belief are immense. Essentially, what it means according to their worldview is that white people commit sin but African Americans are sin. White people are redeemable but African Americans are irredeemable. In such a worldview, African Americans will never stand on equal footing or enjoy equal rights. I respect people like April who have a more progressive view and are undergoing deconstruction, but it's reasons such as this that the Bible needs to be deposited once and for all into the dustbin of history as a relic of bigotry and superstition.

    Well that was interesting timing. My mom flew thousands of miles just to pick up my daughters and I to go spend all day yesterday at the national mall in DC. We were at the "a million women on the mall" event where there was 10 hours of fasting, prayer, worship, communion, prophecies, Israel flags, American flags, jesus flags, don't mess with our kids shirts, etc. On the plane today, I was able to have a fairly decent conversation with my mom about why they want a theocracy and what the big picture is. Thanks April for addressing how difficult it is to have family that see things so differently.....also for addressing the fact that these nationalists believe they are doing good. The rally talked a lot about pornography, sex trafficking, kids taken away from parents who aren't gender affirming. Anyways, will def check out the book.

    Bringing people to this realm without their consent is extremely evil. First they have to live and suffer and possibly suffer horribly throughout their life and then they will very likely suffer horribly against their will as they die too. Not to mention all the fear they might have as they die. procreation is truly an evil thing to do to someone.

    I agree. Being Pro-choice is more pro life than the culture war "Pro-life".
    And yup, faith is not a choice. Which per default contradicts the free will and "fairness of god" the Bible puts forward in relation to judgementday.
    It's not only the USA that christian nationalists want to turn into a "christian nation", but also other countries. Looking back at my time as a christian I came into contact with christians of all denominations as a catholic at oecumenic and charismatic movement meetings and back then this "we must turn our country into a christian nation under the protection of god" was already prevalent as well. Mind you, I live in Western Europe, but the evangelical/charismatic movement's influence reached that far through overseas connections and such. SIMILARLY, religious propaganda was spread due to Trump's influence in the USA on conservatives/republicans, across the pond through these channels, when the pandemic hit! This also caused a sabotage in the trust of the people in the government. I've talked to one of who I went on pilgrimages with and his opinion on Trump was exactly that which a typical MAGA conservative in the USA would be. DUE to these channels (without knowing the source being politically driven christian nationalistic conservatives in the USA) he thinks Trump is godsend and the dems babyblood drinking demons. I could tell he just had no idea where it was all coming from. That is how far these christian nationalist channels reach, into Europe.
    Believe me when I say, Trump is not only a threat to the USA, but to the West as a whole, for more reasons than just this one.
    As usual, many things said in this video resonate.
    I think it would be great if instead of getting religion out of the classroom, to put it in more, but with many different religions or ideologies, so there can be more openess about conversing and learning about other ones. That should be part of education imo, especially when living in a multicultural society with many different religions who usually stick to their own and do not care much about the others. It may bring people together more and increase empathy and critical thinking. Something we can use more of in this times.

    Great interview. I can see why she is on the show. However, I wouldn't call her an atheist when she says she and universalist. I appertiate her view on things. However, she seems very much still in it. I'm thinking there may still be a heaven still. Still enjoyed the interview just triggered me a bit if she still belives in a greater God who created everything. If anyone could link me some videos about universalism I would be very interested on learning more about it!

    Trump's behavior and the way some Christians have supported him despite his actions have caused many people to question or lose their faith. It’s understandable how such a situation could lead someone to reconsider their beliefs. Personally, Trump removed any Christianity left in me.

      That really doesn’t make any sense, considering the foundations of religious Christianity are built upon the New Testament and Jesus’ primary mission was teaching people to read and understand the scriptures rather than just claim belief

    Some of this was a bit triggering because she still seems to believe in Jesus or that he is some kind of connection to the ‘divine’. That doesn’t make logical sense to me. Not with all the deconstructing I’ve done with this channel and others. I appreciate the diverse points of view but I was surprised by some of her beliefs.

    I just vote on the economy. I just assume politicians are all lying. I can’t take someone seriously who is arguing for price controls, so Kamala is out. Kamala isn’t going to restore the Roe vs Wade ruling. The country is already broke because we spend too much. I think the debt, not Christian nationalism, is the greatest threat to us.

    • @cjgt77
      @cjgt77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But that's silly though. Kamala Harris the the one talking about restoring Roe versus Wade. Get done is another issue because she's not going to be a queen. She's vieing to be the leader of the Democratic process, which is just that, a process of checks and balances with other people agreeing.
      Not voting may get Trump back in there which you may never never see Roe versus Wade enacted again.
      The country is already taken back a 100 years; do you really think taking the back another 100 will help?

      @@daheikkinen , but it's not good to be a one issue voter when we're living in such a complicated time, and it's silly to think that all politicians lie all the time. Trump and the right promised to get rid of Roe versus Wade and that's what they exactly did. How is that them lying?
      The economy is way too complicated and it's something that one president can't change overnight. The international debt isn't the biggest issue we're facing. People complained about the debt for decades. What has it exactly done in your life to make it better or worse?
      You can't say all politicians are the same when you see all the changes just one made.

    • @cjgt77
      @cjgt77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@angelodimichele8549 , What does addressing the national debt do for you in your life? There are so many other issues that have more of a direct effect that is silly to vote on one thing or another.

      @@cjgt77 Do you know what the interest will be on the National Debt this year? Over 1 trillion dollars and many people depend on the government to get by including myself and if it keeps going like this they’re going to have to default on the debt which will destroy our credit rating which means if we keep borrowing money it will be at probably twice the interest rate as before. How are we then going to finance our military?
