Toledo is the only city in Europe that preserves its medieval cobblestones intact in some streets, being able to walk on stones that have been there for more than 1,000 years. It's one of the few cities in the world that has its entire historic center declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. And it also has a good and excellently preserved walls, and the cathedral is one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe. Toledo is also known as "The Imperial City", since it was the capital where King Carlos I resided (Holy Roman Emperor Karl V for Germans), and was the Capital of the Spanish empire till King Felipe II moved it to Madrid in 1568. Greetings froms Toledo, Spain.
Medieval cobblestone roads you find in many places in Austria and Germany. The whole town of Hall in Tirol, Austria for instance has only cobblestone roads inside the old city walls. Same goes for many East German towns, which in the time after World War II simply lacked the money to replace their cobblestone roads with tarmac, and today, they value the fact that they still have their medieval road network intact.
As I lived more than 10 years in Germany, I miss this country greatly. And seeing Prag, all good memories come back:) Thank you sooo much Ryan for this great video, as always:)

@@RyanShirley Goedemorgen Ryan. Thank you for your response. Visiting Middelburg is well worth your while. In 1600, Middelburg was the second city of the Netherlands. Profiting from a flourishing commerce, it became a city of majestic, impressive medieval architecture. On 17 May 1940, heavy fighting broke out between the French and Germans, and the ensuing firestorm ravaged the city centre. Hundreds of unique houses and buildings disappeared. Following that tragic moment, Middelburgers rebuilt and restored many of the buildings. Today, the town centre continues to tantalise the senses with its charming, inviting ambiance. Having returned in retirement to the fatherland in March 2019, I now live a life of utter bliss. No longer having a car, I feel liberated. I walk or cycle everywhere, and I have the impression... of living in paradise!

San Gimignano is definitely one of my favorite cities in Italy.
Castellabate is also up there
I’ve never heard of Castellabate! I gotta check it out!
@@RyanShirley It's a town south of Naples, on the west coast. It's sits on a small mountain/big hill and has an amazing view, and is ancient (formed in 846 AD)
Nice subject ❤️
Thanks Jessica! Its hard to beat Medieval Europe

Marvelous ! Fantastic Photography and Great Destinations. I particularly love your Picks for Eastern Europe, which would provide me with some guidance for my future travelling plans ( fingers crossed 😀), as I haven't been any of them.
However, I think 25 is far from enough, because Europe is very rich in culture heritage.
For example, You have left the medieval City Ghent in Belgium out. In my personal opinion, Ghent is a city that will indeed bring you right back to the bygone eras... and make you falling in love with the brilliance of those Ancient Architects.
Thanks so much Helena! I haven’t been to Ghent but maybe I’ll visit this summer! Hope we can both travel soon 😁
