I just saw this article this morning. There was so much craftsmanship put into those appliances, who would have thought there were so many ways to make toast!
😂 I am watching the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society, had to pause and look up old fashioned toasters after being intrigued by the one used halfway in the movie lol
Brilliant! Just got thinking about this old toaster from my childhood that would make this loud but awesome good thingsr coming surruurruur sound. Fascinating little invention through time.
1:35 Very nice, typically 1970s. I use exactly this toaster regularly, a "Siemens TT 450016" made in Western Germany. Unfortunately, my toaster doesn't have the very cheerful, colorful enamel sheets on the sides, but a different design, white-blue, like old painted tiles, but also nice.
The sunbeam “Radiant Control” toaster is the finest toaster ever made. While there are other models with much more beautiful designs, those radiant control toasters were incredibly well engineered. They made that same model into the mid to late 80’s.

It’s not about the toast. It’s about mechanical fascination and nostalgia. Each machine represents a different time/way of life. Both by design and the quality of the craftsmanship vs today’s cheaply made products.

Man I love collecting.
Segments like these are why I love CBS Sunday Morning

I searched my Sunbeam automatic toaster to find out how to fix it, and a few days later, here I am!

They work great. This one has been in the family as long as I can remember.
I love toasters thank you!
Some look wonderful! I especially like the toaster at 5:09. The movement is very fun.

Some of these are so wild! I wish we went back to these styles.
1:24 This one! This is the one I want the most, though.

the brave little toaster
Ah I had forgotten this one, sweet nostalgia 😭
“Sounds like it’s time for 60 minutes” way to promote your own tv station lmao!
The GE one from 1900 without a flipper is scary. I wonder how many hands were burnt in the use of such an appliance.
Probably too many haha! Better than the stovetop toasters.
Or electrocuted
I wanna go to a cool event like this ❤️❤️
I didn't toasters could be so interesting.
I just bought one of those "automatic beyond belief" Sunbeam toasters and thought of this segment.

I've got one that's been in the family since I was a kid.
It's the best!
That last comment about Mona Lisa made me laugh 😄
Been reading the comments waiting to see somone complain about his last comment. But it made me laugh too!
Crumbs! I've never seen so many toasters! I like toast myself, and I'd like a slice of the action! 👍😂
rock n roll thats right love all them toasters got me a old landers toaster and i got bread machines also*******
Posso ter alguma geleca nas minhas tostadas?
De certo você pode.
Me sirva uma xícara de quente água, com um pingo de leite se lhe agrada.
2:36 look at the doll on the left 😂

4:20 REJECTED!
I love toast
Homie coulda built 6 schools with his toaster money
YEAH TOAST!
Now I love toasters more!
Them old ones will out toast and outlast one that you bought last week. Some of them look like they can heat a small room.
5:10 going to the kitchen in the middle of the night
Some guy took a picture of a toaster! Lol
I'd say that's better than taking pictures of your food. Or selfies.
Can I ask why modern day toasters don’t turn themselves seems like we’ve gone back in time LMAO
They don't need to because they toast both sides at once.
and people say my hobbies are weird 🤣🤔👀
@ 1:50...Say what?
IL Y'A TROP DE GRILLE PAIN.
5:12 that was unhinged… '_'
weird toasters but cool
$5,000 for a toaster. That's a bit too much for my budget. I can manage with my $9 toaster I bought at Walmart.
Jimmy Neutron's dad is a member of this club
It's all thanks to Alan Mcmasters.
interesting.
You know what they say
1:51. Need to do some fact checking.
Why?
That is too much toast, I'm sorry.
what's so special about toast? it's just burnt bread.
holdmybeer maybe because new toasters break all the time
us humans love bread, and we decided to make it even better and make a whole invention specialized just to toast bread
