    ATK and Cook's Country are my version of Saturday morning cartoons. That is to say, as a kid I looked forward to Saturday morning cartoon with great anticipation. Now as an adult, it's ATK and Cook's Country (plus This Old House and Ask This Old House) that have me glued to the TV every Saturday morning. I could binge watch all those shows and be a very happy camper.

    I love ATK because of their no biased testing and they tell pros and cons of every product they test. And most times they have the most economical pick as well. Besides that, it's very entertaining and fun to watch

    Love ATK. I watch it more than Food Network.

    • @astridgalactic9336
      @astridgalactic9336 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Same here. The Food Network has turned into nothing but sports and games with food. I don't want that! Just give me good old food recipes, tips and food related products advice and suggestions.
      A truly great recipe starts with quality ingredients. Essentially, the same can be said about a good foodie show and ATK has all that.

    • @rmknicks
      @rmknicks 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@astridgalactic9336 The Food Network is more concerned with finding the next cable star. Think Guy Fierri. It's not about food at all. It's about $$$

    • @astridgalactic9336
      @astridgalactic9336 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@rmknicks You're right. I'm fine with network stars and celebrity chefs but when it turns into food sports and games, I'm out of there. I almost never even watch the Food Network anymore. PBS has all the better foodie shows. For me, it's all about the food, not that glitz and glamour.

    LOVE America's Test Kitchen! Love Bridget and Julia (I do miss Christopher's dry wit)! LOVE the product recommendations! Love the taste testing segment! Sincerely LOVE the lack of glitz and drama this show has (the same reason I love The Great British Baking Show). I wish I had more time to try all the recipes.

      I miss Chris, too, but they have really broadened their output, with far more “celebrities” like Dan. They are probably skewing a little younger and more active...perhaps as a result of Bon Appetit’s video “stars” and their success. Whatever...I really enjoy the show and the spinoffs...and I do pay attention to their equipment reviews.

    I'm 26 and I loved when ATK carne on PBS. I was sad when I missed it at times due to going to church around the time it came on. Then they came up with cooks country. I never had the materials and ingredients to make their recipes but I LOVED the way explained their process. I LOVED Christopher Kimbal and was saddened when he wasn't there no more. Can't even find a video of him on YT with ATK or COOKS Country. Honestly I'm having a hard time just watching bridget and Julia w/out him. Gotta say that their Cooks Country paperback cookbook is THE BEST.

    We use ATK as our best resource for everything culinary because they are the Consumer Reports of everything food! They answer the "why" some food or recipe never turns out the way you expect them to, how to fix it with the food science that identified the problems and developed the new techniques, taught me to like foods i thought i hated showed me the very best and affordable equipment to buy and how to take equipment, recipes and the eating of great food into a better appreciation of staying in for meals!

    One of my favorite cooking shows. I literally stay up til' 1:30 am to watch. I've also tried many recipes. Cooking can be a lot of fun, especially when you see the expression on someones face light up at a dish YOU prepared. CBS Sunday Morning is also as welcome as the almost non existent Sunday morning paper complete with comics & sales papers.

      I've been a subscriber to the ATK Web site for years. I can watch more 20-years' worth of the TV episodes whenever I want (not need to stay up late); can search equipment reviews, taste tests, and recipes; and get advanced notice of events like the "ATK Eats" conventions. I consider it money well spent.

      They recently put out a spider skimmer review on youtube linking to a much more expensive skimmer than their actual at the time of making the video. The actual winner in the video has a Christopher Kimbal named / endorsed version far cheaper and a non endorsed cheaper yet... Sure they don't advertise with an affiliate link to often the most expensive product reviewed.

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@madthumbs1564 Of course the link now goes to a different skimmer; the original winner has been discontinued. The link now goes to the runner-up from the original test. How could they link to the new CK skimmer? They never tested it. (The test was in 2015.) You seems to be suggesting that they should endorse a product they've never tested.

    I LOVE how they always have a "best" tested product and a budget alternative for the equipment so if you cant afford to invest in the pricier item you can still find great kitchen tools without breaking the bank AND more often than not, that price is not an indicator of the best version of anything.

      Don't: When testing different baking pans; they didn't account for difference in colors / materials or manufacturer's suggestion. - Instead they recommended something that not only cost more; but cost more to cook with because of increased cooking time / temp. They just recommended a budget instant read thermometer w/o mentioning the cheaper Lavatools Javelin which is as fast and more accurate with a range of -40 ~ 482°F (-40 ~ 250°C). -Comments on their videos contain some of the best information.

I eat meat, but I don’t miss it with these. I’m not into the weird genetic anomalies that are beyong and impossible, but Dr. Praegers makes a great thin patty burger that really hits the notes of beef without just being fake smoke flavoring added to cardboard like so many. And the texture is great. I just love them.

    ATK, Cooks Country, and Steven Raichlen are the only three cooking shows worth recording these days. Made the Cast Iron Baked Chicken recipe and it was delicious! Would like to see Chris come back.

    Approximately 95% of my kitchen gadgets are as a result of their recommendations.

    Love ATK. I only buy their recommended products. I watch them on PBS & here on TH-cam.

    No wonder their content is updated with 17000 volunteer cooks from around the country to test recipes. Wow, they really want to get the word out to home cooks. Awesome community!

    They have revolutionized cooking. It's a socially positive alternative to abusive chefs.

    Lisa is the best host on America's Test Kitchen...
    I dont know exactly why, but the closest I can come to my understanding is that she seems the most personable and authentic..

    Just imagine seeing a woman rigorously hitting a pan to a hollow block in the parking lot 😂
