I turned 13 in 1981 so I was there. Loves me my Maiden but if I had to choose one or the other Judas Priest would be my choice. They are just more memorable to me. A lot of Maidens music is great but sort of blends into itself and is sometimes repetitive like where every Priest song is quite unique as are their albums.
Not all of JP songs are unique. Some of them sound the same - especially on Redeemer of Souls. Awfully boring with the exception of 1 or 2 songs. (Halls of Valhalla, Sword of Damocles)

Iron Maiden may be more popular and have sold more records, but Judas Priest ist the most influential heavy metal band ever. Btw they started playing thrash metal even before somebody knew what the hell it is - Sin after Sin - 1977 (Grammy-award-winning Dissident Aggressor)

For riffs as a root of heavy metal riffs maiden win, but as a true metalhead first listen will choose priest. They play more fast, loud, a little similiar with thrash riffs, good picking downstorke guitar. I choose priest
Aye, there's really no way to choose between these two juggernauts. Both have incredible song writers, skilled musicians, charismatic singers and more superb songs than you'd be able to listen through in one evening. ;-)
Instead of opposition, wouldn’t these two legendary bands, with nearly a century of combined rock power, make a splendid double main event concert? Of course, tickets would probably start at $100 bucks, so plenty of heads up time would be needed!! Shit, they would need to jam a few together, for the ultimate encore!! Hey, a guy can dream, right?

Love both tho
Impossible choice ;P
I turned 13 in 1981 so I was there. Loves me my Maiden but if I had to choose one or the other Judas Priest would be my choice. They are just more memorable to me. A lot of Maidens music is great but sort of blends into itself and is sometimes repetitive like where every Priest song is quite unique as are their albums.
Not all of JP songs are unique. Some of them sound the same - especially on Redeemer of Souls. Awfully boring with the exception of 1 or 2 songs. (Halls of Valhalla, Sword of Damocles)
@@ironmaidenfan2144 OK..anything Pre KK. Its just my opinion anyhow.
I respect your op. no problem man

Bruce was in Sarajevo in 1994 in the middle of the siege of the city and the civil war.
Traveled in the truck through the first lines on the truck after the chopper flight was cancelled because of the fighting around the city.
Watch Scream for me Sarajevo and than tell me that he's only only about the money.
Battle Of Gods.

Hahaha.. 🤘😉🤘
if this was a logo contest it would be much harder to pick
Iron Maiden may be more popular and have sold more records, but Judas Priest ist the most influential heavy metal band ever. They released two epic LPs (Old Testament - British Steel and New Testament - Painkiller), that showed the direction music is going up tp now. Btw they started playing thrash metal even before somebody knew what the hell it is - Sin after Sin - 1977 (Grammy-award-winning Dissident Aggressor)
I'd argue that "Dissident Aggressor" was the heaviest song at the time, there was nothing else quite like that in the '70s.
@@maffy715 Children of the Grave?
Check Out Stone Cold Crazy By Queen. released in 1974.
Check out Night Sun band in 1972, they have 2-3 speed/thrashy tunes. and of course "children of the grave" as it was already mentioned
Trash metal? I think thrash is word you wanted.Priest is great but thrash metal for me means= MEGADETH.Mustaine holding the reigns.
Good job we have both of these bands. British Metal- The Original and Best!
🤘😉🤘
Judas Priest all the way!!! Great vid man.
Thanks a lot man!
Greetings from Portugal! 🤘😉🤘
You have to give us two bands we can actually compare against each other. It's too hard to choose when both bands are that damn great and you can't actually say one or the other is better. It's totally unfair when we can't make a logical choice.
that was seriously cool, i really had a good time listening to this, clearly a win-win, what about a merciful fate follow up? they were some real riff masters
Thanks a lot man!
Maybe I do a follow up!?
Greetings from Portugal! 👍😉
BRITISH METAL THE BEST 🎸👍
🤘😉🤘
excellent video.
i did grow up listening to lots of Judas Priest. thereby i am more inclined to know their musical nuances (ie the "voice" after the spoken part in Metal Gods) than Iron Maiden.
both are great bands. i envy those of you who did have the chance to see them on Screaming for Vengeance with Iron Maiden supporting them with Piece of Mind.
Thanks a lot 🤘😉🤘
For riffs as a root of heavy metal riffs maiden win, but as a true metalhead first listen will choose priest. They play more fast, loud, a little similiar with thrash riffs, good picking downstorke guitar. I choose priest
Judas Priest-best of the best.
Yeah !!!!
Best metal band ever!
Both Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have amazing riffs. But I always will pick Iron Maiden. The best band for me👌
Completely agree.
Enjoy being wrong!
I like Judas Priest better than Iron Maiden, but Iron Maiden still kicks ass
@@SwordofMyFathers I'd say the same to you. But wanna know why I dont? Because its just about opinions man ;)
Team IRON MAIDEN :)

Cool!!
Iron can play whatever it wants but when Judas plays PAINKILLER the Gods of Metal stops to applaud the "Quintessence of Metal".
Totally agree...
Death does it better and rob sucks at singing it.

There simply isn't any competition between the two. Both are KILLER BANDS !!!
🤘😉🤘
I think both are great.
🤘😉🤘
Me too
Aye, there's really no way to choose between these two juggernauts. Both have incredible song writers, skilled musicians, charismatic singers and more superb songs than you'd be able to listen through in one evening. ;-)
@@Spetulhu 🤘😉🤘
I agree!!! Keep calm and love heavy metal🤘👹
🤘💀🤘
I saw the two bands together in the early eighties - Trentham Gardens, Staffordshire. The two bands are actually mates.
Actually, this year they were the main event for the 2 days of the biggest rock-metal festival in Athens, Greece. Yes when converting euros to dollars it was around 100, no they didn't appear together
Michael Campbell Good for you! However, my daughters and I, still favor Iron Maiden...
Happened already 83 screaming for vengeance number of the beast saw in Rockford Il. Best Fucking concert ever, long live the priest and maiden long live fucking heavy metal
My two favourite bands
