You know if you transfered your Beautifly, you could still prove you caught it in Gen 3 with the location data. It'll say it "traveled across space and time to travel with you from the Hoenn region" and it will be missing an origin mark which proves it didnt come from ORAS. That being said, they need to provide a final update to Pokémon Bank to store the Pokémon to your 3DS's hardrive instead of their cloud servers. It'll take up more space in the 3DS's storage, but it will future proof the app so you can transfer Pokémon from Gens 3-7 to HOME.
I always thought it wouldn’t be distinguishable from an ORAS Beautifly, but I TOTALLY forgot about the origin mark. I’m kinda passed needing to prove where it’s from, but I am still a bit happy that it’s provable hehe.
The issue with this isn't storage, unfortunately, it's connecting to their servers to run the transfer. If you have custom firmware on your 3DS, you can use PKSM as an offline version of bank. The bigger issue is connecting bank to home. They could have pushed an update to bank/home where your switch creates a local wifi network that your 3ds can connect to (this is how you can send screenshots to your phone from your switch, so it should be able to do this already), and then transfer the pokemon using that local connection. It is a bit more involved than what you're describing, but I'm assuming they figured the financial benefit of doing this wasn't worth the effort.
@@marc4008 though I doubt they will, they can still push an update onto bank. Updates to games still work after eshop went down but you just can’t download new software. (I updated my Pokémon sun that I’ve never booted last night)

I've helped out several people with archiving their pokemon before the inevitable end of Transporter/Bank, and I hate nothing more than knowing someone has the option to save them forever on their original games AND move them up to Home at the same time to enjoy in future titles, and find out too late missing the opportunity:(
It's NOT an easy task that's for sure. I know if I ever did something like that, it would be something like a gen 3 living dex... which is probably harder but shhhhhhhhh.
It’s not my main goal but definitely a long term goal but I doubt I’ll ever finish unless they stop releasing Pokémon, and the fact there’s a bunch of Pokémon that are impossible to get shiny.
The thing about keeping them in the older games is that it blows if you have something like a house fire. I had all the Japanese games from Gen 1 forward and all those games and all that work burned it was devastating.

Wanna play around with glitches and ACE safely? Wanna play on your save files but on your 3DS for some reason? Now you can, and all that is needed is a ds lite, an r4 card, microsd card, a computer with internet, and some way to access said microsd card.

A version of these shinies *will* be unavailable. For shiny ribbon collectors such as myself, we will never be able to get all the ribbons on our shinies. Which is why I'm making haste for all mine.
I don't consider it a shiny hunt as it's fundamentally different than shiny hunting. I still respect it, but don't consider it a "hunt". Also constant attempts at a 1 frame input is far less time consuming than most actual shiny hunts. I've done my fair share of 1 frame RNG manipulations and it usually takes less than a dozen attempts at it.
Yeeeeah them being "lost" definitely isnt true. For me i do value being able to transfer them to newer games, or well, mostly to home, to show off a "legal" shiny collection. but tbh with how gamefreak is shinylocking a ton of encounters nowadays it doesnt matter much anymore to me. Personal values of shinies are what really make shiny hunting interesting for me. Like, it could just be a shiny wooloo... or I can also say thats my Shiny Wooloo Connie, my first ever shiny, after it was an inside joke in a friend group that i used to never get any shinies since i played almost all the games and didnt have one succesful hunt. Or my second shiny applin, which i got in 3 eggs somehow (still my fastest hunt ever lmao) Personal shiny stories are what make them so unique and valuable, and I love it
I never cared that much about shinies, sure I just so happen to own some and catch some if I see any, but I value my High IV Pokémon I bred from Gen VI-onward more plus finishing the Home Dex up is what I am doing.

Dead batteries only effect gen 1 and 2 in terms of losing your data, and you can’t transfer stuff from those generations forward anyway. But yeah I DO get why people wanna transfer their Pokémon/shinies forward; at least now I do. And having them all in one place is especially nice! You’ll get to bring them along on so many adventures!
With Legends ZA coming somewhere in 2025, the currently un-transferable Pokémon originally from the Kalos region will become transferable! Though the fact that we have to wait a year for it is a bit of a bother, I think it's a price that I'm willing to pay.
Honestly, I really dislike the new way of handling that they introduced in Gen 8. All Pokemon are given convoluted masses of extra data to monitor what games they originally belong to, what games they visited afterwards and what ID they are meant to have in the online database and thus stuff is almost impossible to spoof. For this reason, Go mons are in big danger of just being dead/lost events in the future and it's Adios for legacy mons when they cut the Bank to Home-transfer. By comparison, Bank simply upconverted Pokemon data in relatively predictable ways without doing anything fancy, so its functionality is easily replicated even without the official server once it goes down.

Yeah I think the main mentality is that because you cannot transfer it or obtain it in future generations, its really only lost forever in the modern view point/future until there is a legal method of obtaining that isn't limited time/mystery gift. I can personally understand a fair extent to this. Mostly w/ the possibility w/ data corruption or a dead battery being a known thing. Depending on what you have, you could be fortunate enough to keep your gen 3-4 Pokémon safe in XD: Gale of Darkness, Colosseum or Box for Gen 3 on the GameCube but w/ gen 4 you would've needed the no-longer legitimately obtainable My Pokémon Ranch to keep them safe on the Wii, though that method itself would be annoying due to its own compatibility chaos and as far as I'm concern, no real safe way to keep gen 5 Pokémon games. So I think the main idea is to protect your Pokémon from potentially losing it from the unenviable. It's why I think Bank & Home are so desired.

That random wild green Zubat and green Marill will always be a cherish memory and will stay with me not in bank but in my heart and memories

I actually transfer my collection up, but I'll add new Elite Four beaten ribbons to them while I do so. I like to have my collection in Home sooner than later but I do get it why you like to keep your own Pokémon in their original games for what I think can be described as completionist reasons.

The ranch of available mons for ribbon mastery get slimmer by the generation. Another option us to intentionally leave out the purify ribbon and go with Pikachu as this is almost an guaranteed transfer up into every future game. But so is Snorlax.

And they are all shiny, which only adds to the rarity. But the ones I bred in FireRed are all male and not shiny. This is because they are part of my Masterdex, where the ones from Go will be part of my Origin Dex. Yes, I go that deep. XD This way I can get not only all gender variants but also all genders of all Pokémon that have them.

One thing I find interesting is how shinies are essentially tiered in a sense based on rarity There’s the guaranteed shinies (Johto’s Gyrados, Legends Arceus’ Ponyta, B2W2’s Haxourus) Increased base odds (XY’s Safari Zone, Gen 2’s mystery egg gift, shiny charm) Fluctuating base odds (Masuda Method, Alola’s SOS battles, BDSP’s Grand Underground) Current full odds And the old full odds Not to mention some self imposed odds to make the Pokemon you’re hunting more rare (like hunting a 1% spawn, a specific gender, a specific ability, a specific nature, or a specific form), an example being that I once hunted for a shiny Grookey via breeding but I wanted it to specifically be female and have the Grassy Surge ability (ended up with 7 shiny male Grookey before getting my first shiny female who also had Grassy Surge) Some people care about how rare a certain shiny was to obtain whilst other people view all shinies as valuable but I think everyone would agree that getting a gen 3 full odds shiny Ponyta is more impressive that getting the scripted Shiny Ponyta from Legends Arceus
This is like the EXACT topic I talked about in “The Shiny Hunting Spectrum” I think it’s interesting and I honestly like it, since it gives people more options to shiny hunt based on what they wanna do and their goals. It literally just opens up shiny hunting to more people and I think it’s wonderful how many different methods and “tiers” there are.
Great video, you have some very interesting points, thank you for sharing them. I personally like to keep shinys in their original game too but I'm also aware that my feelings can change over time and I might not feel that way in the future. The idea that i might not be able to have my special mons in future games if i want them is a bit scary. I think there's a lot of FOMO and anxiety in the community right now and thats why a lot of content creators are talking about this topic, to soothe (or capitalise on) the situation.

Rng is a hard shiny hunt method and it is very hard since you have to do frame perfect imputs

The ranch of available mons for ribbon mastery get slimmer by the generation. Another option us to intentionally leave out the purify ribbon and go with Pikachu as this is almost an guaranteed transfer up into every future game.
But so is Snorlax.
@@Leto85 idk why it needs to be female, but Gardevoir is my favourite Pokémon! When I briefly considered doing a ribbon challenge, I was gonna do it with Gardevoir, so that’s my vote lol.
@@EmmyMimimi I like Pokémon that look feminine to be femine and those who look masculine to be male from the first generation I caught them in, especially when this is their native region. As part of my Living Origin Dex other Gardevoir and the like can be whatever gender. I have a hundo in Go that happens to be male for example. But because that one is a hundo it will stay in Go.
@@EmmyMimimi I just remembered, the Machamp line I have in Go ready to be send to Home is all female. I wanted this because the female gender is rare for the Machop line. And they are all shiny, which only adds to the rarity.
But the ones I bred in FireRed are all male and not shiny. This is because they are part of my Masterdex, where the ones from Go will be part of my Origin Dex.
Yes, I go that deep. XD
This way I can get not only all gender variants but also all genders of all Pokémon that have them.

It is not shiny locked but is even rarer than a normal shiny
@@Naruto394dos32redemuinhos There is proof of that Celebi being shiny locked and there’s never been anyone who’s found a shiny Celebi from it (barring corruption or whatever the heck Im a blisy did, that still just shows you need to use corruption to make it have the ability to be shiny).

One thing I find interesting is how shinies are essentially tiered in a sense based on rarity
There’s the guaranteed shinies (Johto’s Gyrados, Legends Arceus’ Ponyta, B2W2’s Haxourus)
Increased base odds (XY’s Safari Zone, Gen 2’s mystery egg gift, shiny charm)
Fluctuating base odds (Masuda Method, Alola’s SOS battles, BDSP’s Grand Underground)
Current full odds
And the old full odds
Not to mention some self imposed odds to make the Pokemon you’re hunting more rare (like hunting a 1% spawn, a specific gender, a specific ability, a specific nature, or a specific form), an example being that I once hunted for a shiny Grookey via breeding but I wanted it to specifically be female and have the Grassy Surge ability (ended up with 7 shiny male Grookey before getting my first shiny female who also had Grassy Surge)
Some people care about how rare a certain shiny was to obtain whilst other people view all shinies as valuable but I think everyone would agree that getting a gen 3 full odds shiny Ponyta is more impressive that getting the scripted Shiny Ponyta from Legends Arceus
This is like the EXACT topic I talked about in “The Shiny Hunting Spectrum”
I think it’s interesting and I honestly like it, since it gives people more options to shiny hunt based on what they wanna do and their goals. It literally just opens up shiny hunting to more people and I think it’s wonderful how many different methods and “tiers” there are.

I personally like to keep shinys in their original game too but I'm also aware that my feelings can change over time and I might not feel that way in the future. The idea that i might not be able to have my special mons in future games if i want them is a bit scary.
I think there's a lot of FOMO and anxiety in the community right now and thats why a lot of content creators are talking about this topic, to soothe (or capitalise on) the situation.
Yeah it DOES suck and it a negative overall. There’s definitely nothing positive about bank closing, that’s for sure.
