Hello Everybody I volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as a wildlife rehabilitation specialist. The otter will not be killed. It will most likely be moved to a more secluded area away from people. Monterey has many sites off the coast that are wildlife conservation zones. Boats and people are not permitted within these zones and it is a safe place for animals like these to be moved to!
so TLDR the otter wont be hurt just examined and released elsewhere.

It was born in captivity 5-6 Years Ago At our Institute.

But this wasn't her habitat. She was hand-raised. By PEOPLE! Now she's just confused. We should have learned from releasing poor Keiko! He just wanted his cheering crowds, TV cameras, and hand-fed meals. He got "freed." And had to live out the rest of his horrible existence in a cove where his exercise was to be "walked" around by a boatload of people. And his pneumonia was left untreated. May he rest in peace. And may this sea otter be caught and returned to the people who raised her.
@@jaykb6587 Nowhere has it been said that she's not a wild animal. She's going to be captured and re-homed, which means she will be removed from her habitat of birth, her family, and friends.

Her mother was also aggressive (probably caused by being fed by humans) which is why she was captured, then she gave birth in captivity, then the mother was relocated and her pup was set free. Now this otter is exhibiting the same behavior. I read an article about it, the CDFW explained her story.

But this isn't a wild sea otter. It was raised by humans, theoretically "trained" to be wild, and then expected to act like the really wild ones. Obviously, its beginnings, being fed and raised in caotivity, have imprinted on this poor otter. Maybe the moral of this story...you "otter" leave wild ones wild. And ones raised by people in zoos. Shades of poor "Willy" who just wanted cheering crowds, TV cameras, and handfed meals...We should have learned from Keiko! But...people know best what's good for these "wild" animals. Until they don't. And the animals pay...wirh their lives.

Have they considered the boards might look like some kind of a threat to the female otter who may be looking for a quiet place to have babies.
They also have problems with the seals starting to come in closer to people that are swimmers. Animals are fed up with human behavior and how we have polluted and destroyed all of their environment. I hope they win.

I’ve surfed plenty of times by sea otters at Pleasure Point and other areas around Santa Cruz, pretty
close to shore with otters swimming around surfers without an incident. I am guessing there are to many people these days closer to the animals
