@Fractal Chaos just because it’s natural doesn’t mean there isn’t fear and suffering involved. It definitely affects me emotionally to see this, even though I recognize that this is how nature is. I am deeply empathetic towards animals when I can see that they are suffering. And before you say I’m a hypocrite - this applies to all animals and is the reason I am vegan.
@@sarahhilton7681 Than you are not a hypocrite at all. The thing that annoys me is people's obsession's with cuteness in animals and how that relates to funding. This is actually a big issue for nature conservation because animals that people think are cute tend to get disproportionate funding over protecting wildlife and ecosystems. I love dogs and cats but at the end of the day protecting wild animals and our ecosystem is much more important than stray dogs or cats, which get way more money.
@@mzple ah yeah, I totally agree that what you mentioned about people just caring about “cute” animals is a huge problem. One thing to note though, is that stray domestic dogs and cats can actually affect wild animals really negatively too though, by taking over their habitats and hunting animals who live in them. So taking stray dogs and cats, getting them spayed and neutered, and getting them into indoor forever homes does actually help wild animals quite a bit too.
@@sarahhilton7681 That's true. Unfortunately, millions of cats are trapped, neutered and then released. Even if stray or feral cats are fed they'll still hunt.

My goodness that poor little otter was absolutely petrified. The natural world is both incredibly beautiful but also incredibly brutal and unforgiving. Exactly my thoughts as well. Why do you have to stalk that poor thing with a cam standing like a giant above it. Just for a freaking video, people are so dumb those days.
The orca is not evil, as evil is a human concept - it is simply the nature of the orca to hunt the otter. Conversely, the human wasn't evil or even the lesser of two evils, his boat was a convenient escape for the otter, and the human, in his humanity, granted the otter a much needed sanctuary. The world isn't black and white and neither it, nor the bulk of its inhabitants deserve your judgement.
@@Sigurtherhey chief. Get a grip. It was an abstract comparison. Jesus, don't go off the deep end on me. It "otter land" humans and Orcas are both the enemy. Conversely, if the otter were in the river and a Orca was in the area, he be jumping back on shore just as quick as he could to get away from the Orca. In this case, the otter considered the human less of a threat than the Orca. Ergo, the lesser of two evils.

He did interfere when he approached the otter while it was on the boat which caused the otter to jump back in the water sooner than it would without the human scaring it.
That was one lucky Otter, because the Orcas game is to wear their prey down and it’s almost like the Otter knew that it wouldn’t make it without getting back on the boat! Obviously smart enough to make the quick decision on which was the less dangerous option!

Everybody's gotta eat.
Orcas are actually jerks that will torture their prey and NOT just kill for food.

Bless you for being in the right place at the right time ! Can you just imagine the fear that poor baby felt ? 😪🙏❤
@@lottasunshine1325 at least getting them fixed is better than leaving them intact, as even though they’ll still be out there hunting they won’t be having additional offspring who will do the same

For all the people saying the otter was too tired to make it to land: it is a *sea otter* not a seal. Sea otters don't live on land. They spend their entire lives floating on their backs or swimming in the ocean. (They even sleep and give birth in the water.) As long as no predatory animals came along afterwards, she was fine.

My goodness that poor little otter was absolutely petrified. The natural world is both incredibly beautiful but also incredibly brutal and unforgiving.
