Because casual / oldschool / bad / 4fun players who aren't perfectly optimal tend to use regular attacks and fade slashes a little too much and special sheathe moves a little too, uh, little - having started in Tri my muscle memory is all about that Focus+overhead>overhead>fade slash combo! @@holy-crusader6139 Awesome, you'll love it! Just max out Critical Eye and give it one crit augment for a ridiculous 80% unconditional crit chance, which is amazing for regular play 👍
A lot! Definitely worth doing if you like big numbers! Fatalis is better if you want to see strictly the highest number and are willing to make the needed sacrifices with comfort skills though.
Better jewels come from trial and error, as well as doing harder quests - and the USJ armored comes from event quests that mention USJ, I'm not sure which specifically. Try google!
It's a 6 Star quest, "Achy Brachy Heart" once you've completed the "...And My Rage for All" special assignment! I just checked and it is indeed still up :)
Why safi not counted? I make a comparison with full awakened with attack boost on it, the attack a bit higher than raging bracidios with the more blast ailment
At the time I made the video, Safi was multiplayer-raid-only and couldn't reasonably be fought solo, effectively locking it behind a Playstation Network (or XB Live or whatever) paywall for most players. That's changed now, but I still don't count them due to that RNG and multiplayer-only aspect.
You have to do the USJ event quest in low/high rank events to build it in the first place, then the upgrade materials come from a master rank USJ event quest!
@@citrusy. you have to do "Gold Star Treatment" for the first form, "Blazing Azure Stars" for the first upgrade (both if those are low/high rank events). Then, you gotta do "Ballet of Frost" for the final ticket!
Safi blast long sword is better cause of better purple sharpness if you get sharpness to it you got the exact same damage than lightbreak but better purple sharpness but a bit less explosion . But fatalis LS is NUMBER 1. even if you’re not an extremely good player if you’ve managed to get the full LS fatalis you definitely are a good player and you should play it .
I've been leaving out Kjarr and Safi because of RNG and Siege mechanics making them by far the hardest weapons to "craft" in the game - I hate having to do 4+ Safi to get the weapon I want followed by another 4-6 hunts to get the dracolite needed to upgrade it 😅
@@StormEcho hundreds of dracolite? You can max out a safi weapon in like 3 hunts. For the average player that’s much MUCH quicker than fainting to alatreon or fatalis a few dozen times
@@garagejesus True, but to even get there you need to roll the correct weapon, and even THEN it still takes several attempts at minimum to complete the siege. You end up doing a lot of hunts for dracolite anyways - again it's not really an issue of getting the resources, it's the RNG that causes me to exclude them. It's a lot better now with singleplayer scaling to be sure, so at least it isn't nigh impossible without PS+ now!
Longsword definitely doesn't need focus or power prolonger and blast can't compensate for the much higher raw on the fatalis LS as bigger base raw also means bigger raw cap. Damage shouldn't be "opinion" based it's just facts. And you can get easily 95% affinity on the fatalis LS or even 100 if you decide to run max might.. there is a fair amount of misinformation in this video don't take what this guy says for granted I've used LS for over 4000 hunts and promise you that the fatalis LS is without a doubt the strongest dps sword in the game.

True! The viper tobi kadachi LS is the only *craftable* para longsword, to get that Safi Para you gotta roll the RNG a dozen times or more which rules it out as a consistent option in my book 😅

If you're a speedrunner or a crazy high level min-maxer, then yeah you just spam Helmsplitter. But if you're a nonoptimal / for fun / casual player, you're gonna get a LOT more mileage out of keeping your red blade amped damage. It's just better for actual players, not everybody is min-maxing every step of the way, you know?

Focus and Power Prolonger aren't NECESSARY but they help a lot if you aren't speedrunner levels of efficient with the weapon (which I am not haha)
Kjarr and Safi I've been generally excluding because of ridiculous RNG and multiplayer siege mechanics, but now that they added Safi solo scaling I may do a video covering just those weapons - no doubt that they deserve top 5 slots for a lot of weapon types.
@@StormEcho Fair enough
If you've got the celestial prints you can also just meld the kulve sphire thing to get and upgrade the weapons, but the lottery aspect remains
Its a lot less efficient and in turn not really applicable for safi stuff bc of the upgrade system tho
@@someland I actually got my Kjarr stuff upgraded by burning celestial prints haha! It's such a convenient trick. But, it does suck that the Safi ones can only be upgraded by grinding many more safi and getting lucky on your rolls
@@StormEcho Yeah you can sort of savescum it, but you still need a bunch of dracolites and luck 🙄
Cool vid I wanted to know what’s the sword on the left in the thumbnail
Glad you enjoyed it! The weapon is a famously cool-looking event longsword from Monster Hunter Tri / 3 Ultimate: Tenebra!
And tenebra D! :D
@@StormEcho nostalgia
@@zeph2500 The good ol days if Tri 😊
So hellish slasher isn’t worth getting then? I haven’t played since the base game tht was the last weapon I used (divine slasher) thx 😊
Oh, Hellish Slasher is still pretty good! I used Divine Slasher exclusively in world thanks to the massive power of non elemental boost, it was always a great time! However, sadly NEB was nerfed in Iceborne so it doesn't carry a weapon by itself anymore, AND the Slasher doesn't reach purple sharpness. It's still good, and possibly better than the Deepest Night, but for the huge amount of effort it requires compared to the payoff isn't so worth it to me in Iceborne as it was in World
Great video, thanks
Glad you enjoyed! I'm gonna keep doing these until I've covered every World weapon category :)

@@StormEcho that's nice 👍 and I've decided to go with the azurstar dragon dance so I'm farming the event quests right now
@@holy-crusader6139 Awesome, you'll love it! Just max out Critical Eye and give it one crit augment for a ridiculous 80% unconditional crit chance, which is amazing for regular play 👍
What if you put a max attack charm to lightbreak edge, how many damage would it be?
A lot! Definitely worth doing if you like big numbers! Fatalis is better if you want to see strictly the highest number and are willing to make the needed sacrifices with comfort skills though.
Whats the long sword on the thumbnail on the left?
It's the Tenebra longsword, one of my favorite weapons in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate! It is unfortunately not actually in World :(
How do i get better jewels and use usj armor as layered
Better jewels come from trial and error, as well as doing harder quests - and the USJ armored comes from event quests that mention USJ, I'm not sure which specifically. Try google!
Got a like and a sub for cutting to the chase
I dislike rambling, self-plugging intros so I'm glad it is appreciated!
what is the longsword on the top left in the thumbnail
It is the Tenebra, a longsword from MH4U that sadly didn't make it into Iceborne :(
can you still get the lightbreaker sword as I cant find the rageing brachy quest as I really want that weapon
It's a 6 Star quest,
"Achy Brachy Heart" once you've completed the "...And My Rage for All" special assignment! I just checked and it is indeed still up :)
thabk you so much dude
What do you think about Adularia Edge?
All of the Frostfang weapons are solid, ESPECIALLY if your target monster is weak to Ice. I say go for it!
Why safi not counted? I make a comparison with full awakened with attack boost on it, the attack a bit higher than raging bracidios with the more blast ailment
Oh its aslo have long purple sharpness
At the time I made the video, Safi was multiplayer-raid-only and couldn't reasonably be fought solo, effectively locking it behind a Playstation Network (or XB Live or whatever) paywall for most players. That's changed now, but I still don't count them due to that RNG and multiplayer-only aspect.
@@BroDean9696 qual a buid completo ?
Okay but what are some of those swords on the thumbnail
tbh i dont run power prolonger or focus on my LS, just keep fighting
I'm confused on how you get the 3rd longsword, "Azure Star Dragon Dance +"
You have to do the USJ event quest in low/high rank events to build it in the first place, then the upgrade materials come from a master rank USJ event quest!
@@StormEcho okay thank you I see the event quests but there are multiple. Which one is it for HR and which one is it for MR?
@@citrusy. you have to do "Gold Star Treatment" for the first form, "Blazing Azure Stars" for the first upgrade (both if those are low/high rank events). Then, you gotta do "Ballet of Frost" for the final ticket!
@@StormEcho appreciated, subbed :$)
@@citrusy. thanks for the sub! Enjoy your awesome new katana!
What is that big weapon on the left side of the thumbnail?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who wants to know this
I can’t augment crimson viperfang 2 is it a bug
Bro i dont Think i ever use d Focus or Power prolonger on My LS pheraps Power orologer only on The mantle because i dont know what To add
Alright... time to google how to unlock one of these...
No Safi longsword?
I've been leaving out Kjarr and Safi because of RNG and Siege mechanics making them by far the hardest weapons to "craft" in the game - I hate having to do 4+ Safi to get the weapon I want followed by another 4-6 hunts to get the dracolite needed to upgrade it 😅
@@StormEcho well hunting fatalis or alatreon is pretty hard as well I think but fair enough
@@mornmorn4367 Hard for sure! But, getting two evil eyes is a lot faster than rolling for the random weapon plus hundreds of dracolite
Rip pickaxe ⛏
It still has the list beat for style!
I'd add Radiant Flow
bruh Yian Garuga LS is better than Nargacuga in terms of poison and more
But it doesn't have non-element boost for that extra raw kick! Gold Rathian is still my top pick for poison by far
Longsword definitely doesn't need focus or power prolonger and blast can't compensate for the much higher raw on the fatalis LS as bigger base raw also means bigger raw cap. Damage shouldn't be "opinion" based it's just facts. And you can get easily 95% affinity on the fatalis LS or even 100 if you decide to run max might.. there is a fair amount of misinformation in this video don't take what this guy says for granted I've used LS for over 4000 hunts and promise you that the fatalis LS is without a doubt the strongest dps sword in the game.
what would you recommend, i’m new lol, i’m hr 51 and mr 23
@@Okay-wc6mx go for safi'jiva or raging brachydios at that level they are the second best LS after fatalis as for armor i'd recommend you to aim for
Teostra beta helmet
Raging brachy Beta chest
Teostra beta gloves
Teostra beta coil
Raging brachy beta legs
agitator charm
once you got all of this you pretty much just play/hunt for decorations until you are MR 100 which is when you unlock augmentations that really help you out and thats when you can tackle the end bosses of the game with confidence like Alatreon or Fatalis, hope this helps you out
@@miazuki916 thnx man this helped a lot 💯
@@Okay-wc6mx glad to hear it, happy hunting!
The safi LS can also come with para
True! The viper tobi kadachi LS is the only *craftable* para longsword, to get that Safi Para you gotta roll the RNG a dozen times or more which rules it out as a consistent option in my book 😅
Why not shara as a honorable mention?
It's really quite good for a non elemental boost option, but I only do two honorable mentions each video and I like to have them be earlier game weapons or have unique features!
Why is there no ragang long sword
For me dvine and lighbreak the best
Lightbreak is certainly my favorite! Blast is best!
Jesus Burgess would be happy
th-cam.com/video/Pnh6gvbvd38/w-d-xo.html focus and powerprolonger? why? u just want to hit red and then do the helm breaker. and with the addition of foresight slash u shouldnt have any problem hitting it red rly fast consistently.
@@StormEcho yeah i understand that but focus still doesnt make sense because y/y/y+b still fills your gauge the same way without focus ^^
once you get good focus and power pro longer arnt really needed .
Personally I like the older Tri / 3U playstyle and I pretty infrequently use foresight slash / helm breaker (only on large openings) so I like the skills as a way to 100% guarantee uptime on red bar!
bro put fatalis under lightbreak WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAt
Only because I like flexible comfy sets with longsword and raging is like 1-2 hunts at best to craft. Fatalis definitely wins the DPS check!
@@StormEcho I see fair i meant overall
Lightbreak Edge best
My favorite for sure! I love having 100% affinity with power prolonger, focus, and quick sheath!
@@StormEcho indeed that is amazing build and strong

Fatalis is #1
For damage? Yes, absolutely! For comfort, armor set flexibility, and ease of crafting? not quite!
