Find out what our octopus thinks of her new toy. Have you ever wondered what goes on inside her complex little mind? How quickly can she learn? View this video to see her encounter a new enrichment item (toy).
I love how, when an octopus sees something that it wants, it looks like it gets this sense of 'GIVE IT TO ME, NOW!' Then, it wrestles with it as hard as it can to get what it wants. They've got a great sense of purpose. XD
Im definitely claustrophobic and the tight space bugged me until i saw how easily the octupus could move through it and had no chance of getting stuck.
The True Uber Knight It isn't closed though. And even if it was closed, it's full of water, the octopus could still survive(I do not condone locking an octopus in such a small space).
Actually there would be no oxygen left if it was closed off because gills filter out oxygen from the water and if it was in there for too long it would have eventually suffocated (if it was closed off).
Watched this and the three previous videos. Love anything that shows off octopus intelligence and these were wonderfully engaging. I'll have to show them to my friends soon.
Octopus are amazingly smart. Once, when I was a kid growing up in Hawaii, I seen one walking along the sand on 4 of it's legs, with the other 4 wrapped around an empty beer bottle that it was dragging along the sand. I know what that was about, that bottle was it's house, and it was moving to a better neighborhood. I have seen them living in bottles before, but that was the only time I ever saw one moving to better digs. Nobody believed me. But there are now 2 or 3 videos on here of octopus doing exactly the same thing. A clear, glass bottle is perfect for them, they are perfectly safe inside, but they can see outside through the glass, octopus love empty bottles.
francine wilson he’s not playful that’s normal octopus behavior they test their surroundings and that’s what he was doing they test their surroundings to see how they can use it he’s not playful they’re just the smartest invertebrates and have problem solving skills
even knowing how flexible & squishy they are i always fear that an octopus is gonna get caught up in one of those kinds of toys and need a vet to get 'em out.
I recently watched a diver get conned into helping an octopus hunt. The octopus knew it's prey was hiding under something and the octopus was unable to turn over the object. The octopus wrapped a tentacle around the diver's hand then lead it to where the prey was hiding. It went back and forth from under object and to the diver, never unwrapping itself from the diver, until the diver flipped the object over and the octopus caught it's supper. I imagine the octopus must be well acquainted with people, ( popular dive sight likely) to have considered them useful for the task.
Did a lot of diving off California coast in a previous life. These things are by far the most fascinating creatures I had the privilege of sharing their space
Justin do you have a life cause you seem to spend more time on here then I do and a third of my day is on here (another third being games and the last third being sleep
imagine that octopus was actually being tortured crying for help in agony as he was being tormented in the tube trying to get his food to survive by stretching his tentacles all the way bringing him severe pain, trying to live so he could see another day in the fish tank/ the chamber of hell. that video was cute though
Talk about claustrophobia! Just watching that Octopi inside that tube gives me nightmares. . .I do want one (Octopus) badly. So intelligent, and curious.
They can squeeze through any hole bigger then its beak and that pipe is about as round as the octopus it is impossible for an octopus that size to be trapped after all they are escape artist
Seriously, a creature that has survived and evolved crawling around in tiny little spaces looking for food -- I think it's going to do just fine figuring this one out.
After watching a few videos when you realize how intelligent octopuses are, and how they seem to have complex emotions, they start to seem like aliens from another planet.
I just imagined what it would be like to be Harry Potter being chased through the pipes of the Chamber of Secrets by a giant octopus instead of a basilisk.
Something tells me that octopi are WAY smarter than we give them credit for. They are problem solvers....they might take over (hey whales a little help please?)
I'll never eat grilled octopus again. There's a PBS program called "Octopus in the Living room" which documents a study on daily life and specific challenges for an octopus. Two takeaways: Octopus may recognize self in a mirror; octopus have REM sleep and seem to dream.

Octopi 🐙
Davi Augusto De Oliveira they are invertebrates so they are pretty much can fit thru tiny places
Very cute. I love the ending when she backs into the crevice demanding a better challenge.
i loved the way she came 'running' over to check it out as the technician was putting the pipe into the aquarium.
Now you're thinking with portals, little buddy.
"Clever girl..."
It would be so awkward if suddenly the octopus was outside the tank next to the person and ate them.
Tyler Villarreal That would truly be the smartest octopus in the world! XD
Reee rawr dead
Hah! I thought of the same thing while watching.
Da da da daaa daaa da da da da daaa daaa daaaaaa da daaaaa
If I was the octopus i would be like "OMG I CANT BREATH GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!"
Octopi can live above and underwater you know, right?
Yes but if you were trapped in an airtight dome you wouldn't be breathing for long...
The True Uber Knight It isn't closed though. And even if it was closed, it's full of water, the octopus could still survive(I do not condone locking an octopus in such a small space).
Sven Hista Yes but it would still be getting less than recommended, just because you can doesnt mean you should... But yeah it was fine...
Actually there would be no oxygen left if it was closed off because gills filter out oxygen from the water and if it was in there for too long it would have eventually suffocated (if it was closed off).
Everyone is amazed at what the octopus can do but im more impressed by the person who is translating for us!!
Awww. What a cute little octopus!

That's adorable, watching her slide through the tubes! :3
If you think about it, it's a pretty clever way of taking her out of the aquarium every time you need to do maintenance or something.
Loved the video and the music. That cheeky little octopus looks like she was having a ball. Thanks for sharing.
I don't believe this!! A playful Octopus~~~!!
Fancy old squid features squeezing into this bit of tube for a lark!! I watched it he did!!

They can squeeze through any hole bigger then its beak and that pipe is about as round as the octopus it is impossible for an octopus that size to be trapped after all they are escape artist
u need to learn more science dude
This is terrifying. Not because of the octopus, just because she looks so cramped inside that tube. Good thing she doesn't have claustrophobia.
Octopi are such incredible creatures, I must say.
Fun fact:
Octopi are very very clever, what big heads for big brains!

I watched a little coconut octopus walking away with a half coconut shell under an arm on each side,I swear he had a little butt, so cute!
Ik that an octopus can squeeze anywhere that their beak can fit, but watching that still gave me anxiety that it would get stuck lmao.
Claustrophobes RIP
Seriously, a creature that has survived and evolved crawling around in tiny little spaces looking for food -- I think it's going to do just fine figuring this one out.
This is why octopuses...(octopie)...(octopusi)... whatever , are my 2nd favourite animals.
Wow... watching that made me a touch claustrophobic... Octo seems to be having fun though!
I usually hate this music but for some reason it fits lmao
Octopi are such interesting creatures. I would love to keep one as a pet if not for the fact they can easily escape aquariums.
"I JUST GO INSIDE THE TUBE TO GET FOOD" i cant... im dead

Octopodes are very intelligent creatures!
ok. thats an actual cute octopus. any other time i'd be screaming
Fun fact: octopuses have the intelligence of a six year old human.
I love watching them do these kind of things, its so neat.
I bet when the octopus is in their it is like "GET ME OUT OF HERE!"
I felt like that octopus was going to be stuck in the pipe forever lol
They can fit in anything larger than their beaks.
9 years.. Since I was a baby.. But I love it! :D
I just imagined what it would be like to be Harry Potter being chased through the pipes of the Chamber of Secrets by a giant octopus instead of a basilisk.
the octopus may be smarter than most people I know, myself included.
So cute! I hope that octopus will be released one day and not have to spend its whole life in a cage.
they supposedly have brains as complex as ours, but they dont live nearly as long
It’s probably like jigsaw for him…
Hasnt eaten for weeks and his chance for survival is to squeeze through a 1cm pipe
This is making me claustrophobic 😂😂 I couldn’t be an octopus
Not sure how many people would agree but that’s a pretty cute octopus
Something tells me that octopi are WAY smarter than we give them credit for. They are problem solvers....they might take over (hey whales a little help please?)
Well I managed to watch this whole thing without closing my eyes... Good for me. I thought it looked much larger?
Imagine being a tiny scuba diver in that tube and thoose tentacles are targeting you
I'll never eat grilled octopus again.
There's a PBS program called "Octopus in the Living room" which documents a study on daily life and specific challenges for an octopus. Two takeaways: Octopus may recognize self in a mirror; octopus have REM sleep and seem to dream.
I was watching this at 3 in the morning and I had to put it under watch later to see if I was imagining this in the morning
