I've just put a 5hp horizontal briggs back together and both exhaust bolts sheared off that. Luckily there's also an internal thread to screw an exhaust on. Mines a 78 year.
A bit off topic, but you need a number plate light to go above your Man Cave sign! And maybe some trailer lights to put at either side, and light them up! I'm just thinking here - remember what you said about sparkplugs being alright one day, and duff the next? I think I'd be tempted to try another plug in there, just for the fun of it! I reckon it's a runner, but I also reckon you could do with a compression tester, just to see how good things really are - Valves and rings in particular.
Definitely a healthier candidate than yesterday's engine lol, I think your missing your breather pipe, unless im blind and you took it off 😂, but nevertheless I think you got a good 5hp which is rare for 5hp briggs, also there should be a thread in the exhaust so you can put a threaded exhaust 👍

Plug looked like not firing right to me when you checked for spark earlier?

Any friend of Briggs and Stratton, is a friend of mine. Like stripping down vids! Just finished a 2hp and she's a ripper
Plug breaking down under load ?
Take off the pull start and stick a drill on it... The extra speed might work. (Probably not)...
Put a new plug in boy, you will pull your guts out.
