- Is the Boeing 777X about to be delayed until 2026? Lufthansa's CEO seems to think so following new comments. Additionally, Emirates has forecasted a 2026 delivery since the beginning of 2024. These developments come as the aircraft manufacturer struggles to certify its new widebody jets and faces persistent questions in markets around the quality of its aircraft.

Tim Clark Emirates CEO has said the same the certification flights have not even begin . By the time this plane its certified the technology of the 777X would be not very new.
Yeah, certainly true. The technology will be 7 years old. Meanwhile Airbus has reduced the empty weight of the A350 by 2 tonnes! They might find more improvements on the A350 by then. RR is also improving the efficiency of Trent-XWB. Great for airline companies.
The 777X has been making test flights for YEARS. Can't say who's having more problems right now; GE with the contaminated powdered metal or Boeing with it's certification paperwork.

Been waiting for that much time that airbus has built new versions of planes like A321ULR..
The A321ULR share almost all component with the A321LR. Apart from the center tank and some gear assembly stuff. Worth saying those update will also be integrated in the neo update family that airbus is ramping out.
Well, the real bad news is that: Not too many people here on TH-cam have ever tried to purchase a brand new jetliner lol. If you want to purchase a brand new Boeing 777-300er or Airbus A350-1000 right now, it may take another 5 years or so to get your first delivery. If you order a Boeing 777x, or the Airbus A350neo right now, it may take you a decade to get it. It is basically a supply-and-demand situation but more complicated. Lufthansa, Emirates, and many financial institutions and leasing companies have already signed their purchase agreements years ago. They signed their agreements without knowing too much about the end products, because they need to consider about many other factors, including their business plan, delivery schedule, and more importantly, financial and discount. You never know their deals. So, if any bad things happen, such as the several issues on the 737 Max, delivery delaying, all the stakeholders will need to work together in order to rectify the problems. It's not like you can just piss off Boeing and walk-in into an Airbus dealer like buying pants from Marshalls or Walmart.
Huh? No. You can get an A350-1000 a lot sooner. Airbus is bumping production to 12 a month - 144 a year. Backlog is 600, but Airbus has spots available, if you want them...Stop equating the two
Love how the narrator said the plane will not be released into service until the FAA deems it safe enough.
I wonder what the parameter is for not safe enough to safe enough. I would suggest not entering into service until it is 100 💯 safe
I pray the 777-X doesn’t kill innocent passengers as did the 737-Max
Doubt it will. 777 is pretty safe
I think the FAA at this point is waiting with their approval and certification of the 777X until Boeing got their internal restructuring properly done. They will also have to wait and see if all these measures have actually any effect on the manufacturing of Boeing aircraft, this will take a lot of time, certainly longer than summer 2027.
BOEING could help by kicking out its current Board Members including the New Ones and bringing in people that are NOT Boeing Tainted. Then we might to start to have some trust. An external assessment of Boeing Senior Managers might help. The CURE has always been in Boeings hands but Biden Demoncrats giving Boeing "SURPRISE" Military Orders = ILLEGAL SUBSIDIES only make matters worse.

The FAA is pissed because the FAA was NOT doing their job, understaffed , not qualified to fly the planes and let Boeing do the work and when the $hit hit the fan FAA took the heat and all this delay is retalitory and is definetly not good for business anywhere, why multi years to certify when the first 707 was certified in months ?????

Brit here, never been sure of the FAA, always been in Boeings pocket but if its the FAA now holding up the 777x then maybe the FAA is getting back to what it should have been. That said, all the delays are to my mind Boeing being forced to do it right for a change. Would not do anybody any good if one fell out of the sky with over 400 on board. Emirates must be getting its confidence from somewhere. So lets hope it finally arrives and is safe. Tim Clarke seems to be the only one who knows his onions and feels confident enough to keep the order.
OR FAA Officials are SCARED that IF they give approval and a FAILURE happens THEY WILL BE WITHOUT A JOB OR PENSION?
Either that or he is a complete fool and moves to the back of the Airbus line. You never know the motivation as a lot of pockets get filled along the way to a new order. What we see, most is self serving and not in the best interest of the company they are getting paid by. There is almost no accountability in the corporate world.
Why am I not surprised?
I don’t think airlines would care too much as they have the more “successful” a350 that has no problems

Genuine question: why should the B737max problems cause a delay in certification for 777x? It is, after all, a completely different aircraft.
@@charlesbruggmann7909 I kind of question that too. You will have some say that its the same company same problems across all aircraft programs and then some that say certain ones have better operations than other aircraft programs so tbh I dont think the 737nax problems delay the certification of 777x. its more to do with airline CEO's worrying too much that they will be delayed hence the media saying deliveries will be delayed when yet the manufacturer will want to certify and deliver frames that same year to its customers
Trouble at Boeing? Who'd have thunk it.
If Boeing confirm those comments, Airline executives would be dead inside lol. The lesson from the Alaska 2024 incident is clear : Rushing making new aircraft puts passengers at risk. For now, i believe the 777X would likely be certified by mid-2025.

With no end or EIS in sight for any of them. The 777-9X is at 1,562 days. The 737 Max 7 is at 2,242 days. The 737 Max 10 is at 1,052 days. Think about that a minute. The original 747 went from first flight to EIS in 347 days.
Fortunately, critics and commentators don’t build aircraft.
that's it
Nor do builders, so it seems.
MC-21 is in LRIP Low Rate Initial Production, airframe #30. They will be certified and building 30+ per month in Q2 2025.
All speculations.. Is it Boeing or FAA fault? I do not hear why certifications had been delayed??
The delay is due in large part to GE and their GE9X engine. Why no mention of this?
because it doesn't matter too much, airlines order the finished product from Boeing, that their suppliers are having issues is irrelevant because the plane won't be certified or delivered until the complete product is functional
While Boeing deserves blame for lots of things, there are 15 finished 777x planes sitting on the ramp in Everett without engines. You can even see it on Google maps or Apple Maps. Most of the delay is due to GE. It would be accurate to reflect that in the report.
I think 2027 is an early variant launch to customers. There must be very serious problems with this aircraft and I do not care if you’re the biggest Boeing fan or not… Yes the FAA will force a delay until they are 200% sure it’s a safe aircraft. At the moment it’s obviously not! If I was waiting to the arrival of a new wide body I would be asking what the. A350 production line ie if I can order them.. within a shorter period of time!! Lufthansa I imagine have capable people re this? But one thing the A380 was not brought in by Lufty because of the late arrival of the 777x.. only to wrangle a further discount They need the A380 because of huge increased load factors which the 777x couldn’t fill even if fully functioning
This is why certification is needed very soon or the whole industry will go upside down and collapse
We really should move into the 800 series
But Emirates does not really have the option to change to A350. Because if they order Airbus now the deliveries will be many years from now.
Great news to humanity.
to you it will be
Can you describe, DJ, the delay in the B-777-X or B-777-9 as displayed?
The first few years of the delay was problems with the new engines - which is due to GE, not Boeing. Except maybe Boeing should have hedged their bets by offering buyers a choice of engines, as Airbus often does. But the current delays are from the from the FAA being really tough on certifying it. Since the 737MAX disaster the FAA no longer trusts Boeing at all (who can blame them?) and thoroughly questions absolutely everything they do. They've kinda lurched from one extreme to the other.
They now have at least 3 different aircraft types they can't seem to even get approved. B737-Max 7, B737-Max 10 and the 777X. The B787 seems to be having delivery problems as well, but at least they are approved by the FAA. They seem to have lost their way. Airlines are losing business because they can't operate a planned full schedule due to pushed back delivery dates. It just seems to getting worse at Boeing. I can sure understand Airline Executives' conundrum. I wonder if any of this has to do with them outsourcing a lot of their Enginering to Mumbai, India? It's not that Indian Engineers are a problem, but being that far away can make communication with Corporate more difficult and it's easier for Bean Counters at Boeing HDQ to override them.

At this rate Rolls Royce will have their engine issues addressed for Emarites with the A350 before this plane flies for a carrier. Boeing is holding aviation (and space exploration) back
Just think Emirates next plane is the Airbus A350-900 ,that should take pressure off some routes.
Still the 777x is needed on the world market to cool down the situation.
Is there a lack of interest? Not enough firm orders in an enhanced B-777? A manufacturer won't commit unless there is a market.
The A-350 seems a strong competition.
"Since the 737-MAX crisis???" No, Sir. Absolutely not. The sentinel event was the F-35's Initial Operational Capability in 2010 (B model), 2011 (A model) and 2012 (C model).

oh wow. gee. gosh. i am so surprised. cant you tell how surprised i am?
I hope that EASA/FAA outright reject certification. This company needs to be taught a HARD lesson.
EASA will. FAA will try to do what the government wants, and Boeing bribes them to.

where has quality escaped and ruin resides
Well, when cost cutting to make more money for investors starts to take a higher priority than quality manufacturing, what do you expect? Not the first time this management philosophy has led to the opposite of what they thought by requiring a lot of problems that have to be fixed after initial product release costing more money than if they had focussed on quality and safety focussed production in the first place.
It is very shameful as an OLD PLANE MAKER is taking soon long to get the new 777x certified.
