  • In this video we take a look at the newly added Super Resolution tool in Adobe Lightroom Classic. This tool allows us to double the width and height of our images essentially giving us four times the total image area.
    Super Resolution has been in Adobe Camera Raw/Photoshop for quite some time, however it is a new addition to Lightroom Classic with the version 10.3 update.
    By using Super Resolution we can make larger prints of our images, deliver larger files to our clients, and crop our images more without losing too much information.
    Overall, Super Resolution is a fantastic addition to Lightroom Classic and a must-have tool for many types of photographers.

    I've watched a few of your videos and I can honestly say this is probably the best photography education channel on TH-cam. Your videos are so crisp, well written, host is pleasant to listen to and delivers information in an easy-to-understand manner.
    Honestly, I've learned everything I know about photography from TH-cam and I have to say, after watching literally hundreds of videos, you guys have some of the absolute best. Keep up the great work! Subscribed.

    Question I have a crop sensor camera ( canon 90d) I was curious if I was going to use this feature in lightroom while cropping a image. Would it be more beneficial to do it before the crop or after? And like wise is best to do this when your done adjustments or before you start adjusting your image.. thank you so much I've learned a lot from your channel

    This is amazing 👏 I'm a hobbyist bird/Wildlife photographer with an Canon R6 (great camera btw) which has a 20mp sensor. Still amazing quality but limiting in cases where I want to crop more than say 30%.
    I tried this and its literally made it feel like I have a higher resolution sensor. Sure its not the same as using an r5 or similar high resolution sensor Camera, but it's handy if you need to crop a lot or print large (I don't really do the latter at the moment) so I'm delighted adobe released this 😊
    Thanks for this great video showing how to use this 😀

    To test your thesis (that Adobe has optimized their enhancer for high-resolution input) you can save the tree-shot in a low-resolution and try to enhance it from that low-resolution. Because the tree-shot and the water-shot is so different, it might just be that the water-shot has less objects for the AI to work with, rather than the resolution having anything to do with it.

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea, but I've tried many photos that I didn't show on the video and I can safely say that it works much better on images that are over around 10 megapixels to start with.

    Great video, Forest. I was looking forward to checking it out but I've missed a couple of OS updates. I'm embarrassed to say it's still High Sierra. I need at least Mojave to update my Lightroom Classic but I don't seem to be able to do that update. I've searched online how to update an old OS but I seem to be out of luck. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question! Unfortunately, your computer might be too old to update. To find out, go the apple icon in the upper-left of your screen and go to "About This Mac," make note of the date that's listed right next to where it says which computer you have. Cross reference which computer you have and the date it came out with this list: support.apple.com/en-us/HT211238 That will tell you if you can update to Big Sur or not. If not, it might be time for a computer update. Reach out to RMSP if you want a new computer recommendation and I'll help out!

My lightroom catalog as all RAW files and the two check boxes in the Enhance Tab doesn´t appear, and the image on the preview doesn´t change, I tried change the image do a DNG file but it doesnt show the two tabs and the image stays the same...could you know what is it? I knew about the "enhancement upgrade" and it is truly a great update, however here is my question.....in looking at your screen shot "tool bar" above the film strip your before and after tool is "X & Y" where as mine is "Y & Y" only. I looked at th options for this too bar and was unable to find any thing that would do that for me, you also have a number of other tool icons that I do not recognze, can you please do a video that is related to these tool icons. Thanks.

  • @davidligon6088
    @davidligon6088 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, let’s say I want a little bit of sharpening, especially on edges such as eyes, hair or feathers. Would creating a enlarged 4x image, with Adobe’s apparent edge enhancement, then exporting the enlarged image to a smaller resolution result in better sharpening than the sharpen tool (which tends to introduce edge artifacts and noise in my experience).

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. That's an excellent question that I feel I'm not qualified to answer. Since the AI that goes into the enhance feature is leaps and bounds better than the antiquated sharpening tool, you might be right. Not sure though.

    I have an equipment question. I currently shoot with a Sony A7iii at 24 megapixels. I’ve considered upgrading to the A7Riii so I can ge larger prints. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet (not convinced yet), but with this feature, would I really need to? 96 megapixels would be quite sufficient.

    • @RMSPtv
      @RMSPtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion the a7III would be more than enough in most every situation! I’d say spend that money on lenses or education if you’re looking to learn more!
