    If you go down with high speeds you’re bike is done for it anyways. If you go down with low speeds, frame sliders will protect you’re bikes frame and engine. With some wide ones they will protect you’re feet en legs from getting crushed aswell. Unfortunately used them more then ones and they did a great job.

    that is literally what they are for... I think you are way off on this one. your bike can flip regardless if you have fall protection or not. I have never seen a bent frame from a bike falling on frame protection. you would probably have to be going stupid fast or something for that to bend a frame. I would say do the mods or add the drop protection to fit the application of what you are doing with the bike. If you are stunting get cages, and you will need a bunch of other mods as well or just buy a used stunt bike. If you are street riding you can just get simple frame sliders or engine guards or if you have a cruiser get the big D bars. Racing bikes tend to use the engine guards over frame sliders because they want light weight less drag and have spare racing farings. it all just depends on what you are doing and what bike you have.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah it can flip anyways but the frame sliders/crash bars creates an impact point to the frame that otherwise wouldn't be present. Just google and you'll see what can happend to a frame when a bike crashes with frame sliders and or crash bars. Often times a bent or damaged frame (damage to the structural integrity) can't always be seen right away or by the naked eye. The last thing you need to worry about is damage to the fairings. The frame is the most important thing on a motorcycle.

    • @madbiker1000

      If you hit a curb with a frame mounted bobbing there is a good chance you will damage the frame which means the bike is written off. I've had to deal with the damage of this with road bikes and on the track.
      Obviously sometimes the crash bobbins will prevent damage but there is always the risk of excessive damage being caused.... At the time I thought it would be a good idea for these bobbins to have a sheer point that would eliminate the risk of frame damage.

    If you're not frequently challenging yourself in tight and slow exercises where you are likely to drop your bike, you are doing yourself a real disservice.
    Every engine guard or frame slider that I've looked at stated that they offer engine protection of a slow speed drop. Which is why our adventure bike friends praise them so much. I haven't looked at a cage so I can't speak to that. An at-speed accident and your bike is likely to be totaled by insurance regardless if you have protection or not.
    More than stunting, it's the continued development of slow-speed skills where engine guards or frame sliders really save your bike.

    I thought the same for years until I fitted genuine ones. A low side and I got away with it. Barely a scratch man. Here in the UK we have R& G frame sliders and they were substantial in build quality and amazing in design. The scratches on fairings are too ugly to rattle can over. The engine bar which replaced my honda engine bar was high grade stainless steel. I'm converted I'd have bought these sooner if I'd know how substantial they are. Ride safe too I like your safety gear. Cheers man.

    Slid my bike out recently. Sliders saved my bike and my leg from getting trapped and slid on top of. Will never ever not recommend sliders and or crash bars to ANYONE. I think you're 100% off on this to be honest. To your point, yes, I agree, they can at higher speeds in certain situations potentially catch and on an uneven surface. But in the end of the day I think this is a non factor. At those speeds you've got much bigger issues and the bike will already be totaled out either way more than likely. I say that to say the benefits far out-weigh the potential cost of this very specific situation.

    A well designed crashbar will actually cramble before the plastic forces on the frame become inelastic and damage the frame.
    That being said... Not every crashbar will be designed with that in mind.
    And it also depends a lot in the kind of crash, you are going to be involved in. You can't save the unsalvageable.

  • @BobbyBasketballl
    @BobbyBasketballl 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    I don't agree, I crashed my bike and my frame sliders saved majority of my bike. I was missing case covers and front axle sliders. those were the only other areas that got damage besides the handle bars. On my new bike I'm putting on axle slider for front only, case covers because the engine guard/sliders won't always be bullet proof. I haven't seen any one else recommend not getting them for street riding.
    Is there a risk of it catching on the road? sure but I'd rather mitigate over having no protection at all. The plastic/fairing getting damaged is the least of my worries. Most modern bikes have the engine fully exposed and the first thing to get damaged by a fall. I would rather do my best to save my engine.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The frame sliders or crash bars attachment points to the frame often get torqued when the bike crashes and can cause a bent frame that can't always be seen by the naked eye but can affect the structural integrity of the bike. As far as just dropping a bike, I dropped my former cbr600rr (as seen in the video) and it only caused a scratched stator cover that was a cheap and easy fix. Frame sliders cause an impact to the frame when the bike is dropped or in a crash that otherwise would not have been affected without frame sliders.

    • @BobbyBasketballl
      @BobbyBasketballl 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@CycleCruza in my case my clutch cover was hit and it wasn't a simple cover replacement. The cover bent in just enough to catch the basket of the clutch and the bolts inside exploded. I needed to replace my clutch basket, bolts and springs, was not cheap at all.
      The accident was caused by me accidently sending the bike into a wheel from a stop. I was riding my ducati monster 900, 2000. It was not something I was used to and was never intending to do a wheelie. Unfortunately I got a dislocated arm and fractured shoulder. the bike came down on its side, hit the front wheel and handlebar first, both were toast. Ironically the lip of my rim caught the asphalt and bent it to hell. With axle sliders I probably would have had a better ground clearance.
      It then slid on the frame slider and the slider wore out enough that the foot rest and clutch went next. Bike recovered with a frame alignment check. Had the bike not had the frame slider I would be looking at a total loss withe the engine taking the majority of the hit and tank destroyed.
      Even the Ducati dealership I took it to mentioned it was smart to have the sliders. I agree that the sliders do have a possibility to destroy your frame, but at that point I believe your bike is already toast.

    I sold my previous bike, I had attempted to help the guy load the bike on to his truck (his method was... Not very well thought out), the plank didn't hold when the bike was half way up, the rear wheel slipped and the bike was dropped from the the truck, 0 damage to the Bike thank to the crash guard. I have witnessed its effectiveness first hand and made it the first thing in mind to buy crash guagds for current bike. So yeah this is a horrible take. Every biker should get crash guard/slider if you want to save money.

  • @Genod3500
    @Genod3500 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    yeah this is just completely wrong a stunt cage is good for stunting and most accidents; frame sliders are not only a great investment for a tip over, but can also bring your insurance a lil down depending on your insurance. ive gone down going 60mph on a hwy and my frame sliders were gone but the bike rode home no issue and only needed new 60 dollar sliders and a new shift leaver that was 50 bucks. ive also gone down going 20 with no sliders and needed a new stator cover, leavers, mirror, and fairing, and oil that totaled over 600 dollars. A proper quality set of sliders will not go grabbing everything is will wear down and protect your bike.

      Looks like most people in the comment section heavily disagree with CC....I do think there might be certain crappy untested peg like & stunt guards. That if installed on a lightweight bike laying down at 50 mph, could catch a crack or pothole in the road & send flipping end over end. But overall I think the right engine guards on the right bike offer much more protection than risk of further damage in a crash.

You have to experiment with different types of motorcycles and sliders and crash guards of all shapes and sizes, at various speeds and road conditions and a gazillion other factors. Then strip down the motorcycles to see what happened to their frames for obvious or microscopic fractures. Then buy another bunch of bikes and repeat without the sliders or crash bars.

I’ve been riding since 1974 and I never crashed on the road, I only have spilled it in the dirt, ruts and sand mostly. Here in Pennsylvania, the only safety gear they require is glasses. That gets a lot of people killed. I love your emphasis on safety gear. I agree 100!

    Technically you can bend your frame if your bike falls over while parked on the kickstand. Even w/out the sliders. However, I had factory Buell frame sliders on my XB12 SCG and had a low side where the frame was protected. Again these were factory frame sliders and bolted where the engine mounted.

    On bikes with high center of gravity i will agree that is a possibility, but for bikes with low center of gravity this is very wrong on so many levels. Most frame sliders or crash bars are designed to prevent flip overs, mean they are designed to avoid getting caught in roads imperfections, so even if this is a possibility on high center of gravity bikes, it’s still highly unlikely.

    Crash Bars and Frame Sliders are not meant to protect your bike in a high speed crash. New Riders don't listen to this. I have seen many people's bikes protected in the event of an accidental tip over, or maybe you low side in a turn by accident. Low speed accidents happen more often to riders then you think and crash bars CAN save you a lot of money. If you lowside at high speeds your bike will likely flip over any way. Change the title and take out NEVER. Its Misleading. Safety courses use them for a reason.

    You're a strange person CC.
    You've gone to a lot of trouble to tell people not to use frame SLIDERS and CRASH BARS.
    You don't have any legitimate information to state the things you have. None. Pure anecdotes. For all the "things I've seen" as you say, I can show you how many times sliders have saved a ton of motorcycle damages. So what?
    Do you want to help the motorcycle community, or are you making these ill-informed non-researched, anecdotal videos so you can make Google money? That's selfish. Stop spreading nonsense data.
    Only for stunt use? So you admit these cages do the job. But somehow they stop doing the job when speeds increase, and when you find a pothole? Comon man. Somehow a frame slider isn't about sliding, the delrin material just grabs everything and throws the bike? Comon man. It's your word against the engineering companies that actually put testing, studies, material science, and innovation in their products. But I guess everyone who buys that stuff is just suckers.
    You know how popular naked bikes have gotten? THEY DON'T HAVE FAIRINGS! They have engine cases, frames, hard parts, axles, exhaust systems, tanks exposed to damage. That's not "cheap."
    I don't know about you man, but a couple of delrin knobs scraping on the pavement instead of a whole frame, a tank, an exhaust system, bars.....which causes more friction and is more likely to flip the bike? Delrin? Or all those hard parts?
