1. Yes, China-Russia friendship is a friendship of convenience because they coming close to each other is a short term phenomena. With the emergence of China as a new challenger to US hegemony, Russia wants to counter USA by having the back of China. We know that China has border tensions with Russia, and if it succeeds in establishing a Chinese world order, based on the concept of Middle Kingdom, it won't spare Russia too and would like to counter all challenges to its hegemony.
2. Yes, India Russia can be all weather Friends again. In the sector of Nuclear energy and Defence, Russia has been a major facilitator of our infrastructure. We can keep the ties close with developments in these sectors. At the same time, we must not leave the hand of USA too. We can work in sectors like Space and Pharmaceuticals with USA to have it by our too. Also, we know that it is a compulsion of USA to side with India for containing China. So, we must back our relations with Russia as USA is bound by its need to stand by India.

For RUSSIA,ECONOMY IS LARGELY BASED ON DEFENCE EXPORT AND INDIA BEING ONE OF THE LARGEST IMPORTER NOW DIVERSIFYING DEFENCE IMPORT ALONG WITH DOMESTIC PRODUCTION THURST, IT IS COMPULSION TO LOOK FOR MORE PARTNERS LIKE CHINA AND PAKISTAN. OVER THE PERIOD INDIAN TILT TOWARD USA HAS MADE RUSSIA TO BE APPREHENSIVE OF FUTURE RELATIONSHIPS. SO IT IS INDIA WHO IS ALIENATING RUSSIA NOT VICE VERSA..

BRICS doesn't have a headquarter.
1. The two countries which is Russia and China offer each other much in terms of collective and collaborative security. And they are economically Complementary.Russia has only three things in common with China: a long border, a history of communism, and a shared enemy.' The partnership between Russia and China is not one of equals. China is by far the stronger of the two nations, and is believed to drive hard bargains with Russian negotiators. Many foreign policy experts are of the opinion, India should not fear the closeness in Russia-China ties, as it is of temporary nature and a result of the current geopolitical setup.
Russia's Resurgence : Russia is seeking to regain its status as a great power, therefore it will continue to view China as a potential strategic adversary of the future.
Battle for influence in central Asia : A more problematic area for cooperation is that of the Eurasian Economic Union.
So, there for Russia and China's friendship is a friendship of convenience.
2. Given strategic convergence
Btween Russia and China, it is important that India draw up strategies that protect its national interests, which may include the following:
Deepening ties with Russia : Deepening its relationship with Russia, because Russia is an important balancer for India vis-à-vis China.
. Using Diplomacy to Tackle China: Within the framework of the excellent military relationship with Russia, India needs to pursue Russia that it should not transfer technology to China that could prove to be detrimental to India's security in the long run.

As in past record. USA was with our enemy country Pak...in war time....
