Where can I fix the velocity of the keys? For the AKAI it is possible with pressing the „Full Level“ buttom for 4 sec and then You can adjust the velocity. When I press the buttom at the 49 I can’t See and change at the Screen.
Another great video Alex. I'm not a keyboard player just looking to get my first MIDI controller and I was torn between the Akai and the Kontact controller. I made up my mind and I'm getting the Akai seems to be made to work the way I like. Learned a lot from this video so thanks a lot for this... SUBSCRIBED...!
The Advance keyboard package is excellent. You get a full suite of instruments, full up versions that can be run stand alone in your DAW or within VIP on a DAW Track, and, as the demo clearly shows, your other VST instruments will run within the VIP software (YMMV, VIP has some stability issues to yet iron out and I hope a new version will improve a few little things). VIP has a very good arpeggiator with many creative settings, runs, chords. Deserves a whole demo unto itself. It seems to have some timing issues in my DAW, but it's amazing and should have been mentioned in this vid. VIP does not run VST Effects. So, your VST effects still need to run outside of VIP (but that's OK). VIP runs two ways, 1) Stand Alone, 2) within your DAW. However, not to harp on it, but I'm getting too many crashes in my DAW (cubase pro 8) which is unfortunate. I really do like the VIP concept. I hope there's a new version out soon. They keyboard itself has a tight synth actions, the wheels, pads, and knobs are all solid feeling. It will take you time to program your controller settings, but the VIP set-ups are also very good. It will do double duity -- MIDI controllers for MIDI and automation recording, and the VIP controllers for when you work inside VIP... the more I to work with this keyboard, the more I seem to like it. Thanks for a really excellent demo and for the others on your channel. Great stuff.
The pads are mainly used for muting if you have multiple instruments layered on 1 channel. That's prob why you do not see videos demo the drum pads. There velocity sensitive and they're prob better than most keyboards. But, the way the controller is setup you're more than likely not going to use to bang out a beat. Just my opinion since I own one.
For some reason my VIP Software won’t show anything but HYBRID patches. I have the full version of Pro tools and the ALL PLUG INS version of FL Studio. I see your show Mini Grand and I’ve even seen some with xPand and Vaccum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can you please do a basic getting started video on the Advance 49, covering all the icons and it’s functionality, I’ve watched every video on TH-cam and nobody really did a BASIC GETTING STARTED VIDEO FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS, far as song building, not splits and multis.....thx🙏🏼
Hey man, hoping you can help. When I bring up the screen on the advance 49, it defaults to multi. When I select a patch its adding it to a multi. I simply want to load a single patch and play it across the keyboard. I dont get why this is happening.
holy goodness midi keyboards are light years better now.. I got a m-audio axiom 49 and its great as far as the weighted keyed but other than it doesnt function well with FL studio at all
It's fantastic! I already bought omnisphere 2 and have been using it live for a few weeks. The only problem I have is when I have it in multi mode and switch to another multi, I get some pops and some of the sounds drop in an out for the first 20 seconds, then it goes away and works perfectly. I'm trying to configure VIP to get it to work better but besides that It's amazing. The ease of mixing all my VSTs and being able to layer them is amazing.
Just got the advance 49 but I definitely still favor my Roland DS 61. It's a cool set up except that browsing patches on the keyboard itself is cumbersome and find myself reaching for the mouse when it's coming to choosing patches and instruments.
well, if you can try everything in store, give it a shot. I simply can't, because nobody is selling them here and I need to import it from outside my country. I have Alesis VX49 anyway. They are siblings. M-Audio, Akai, and Alesis (and many more) owned by inMusicBrands. Look at them all, they comes with EXACTLY the same software (VIP, Loom, Hybrid, etc ...) - Akai is known to have the premium price, but the build quality isn't bad. even Ableton trust them to make Ableton Push gen 1 (with no LCD screen). - Akai ADVANCE 25 price is the same as Alesis VX49. - Alesis VX49 is the cheapest. - M-Audio is the newest, and the price is between the Alesis VX49 and Akai ADVANCE 49. $499 (Akai Advance 49) > $449 (M Audio CTRL49) > $399 (Alesis VX49) - M-Audio CTRL49 has 9 faders. The rest doesn't have any. Damn I'm jealous af. - Alesis VX49 knob is too small, probably not the best for live performance. - Akai ADVANCE is the only VIP-series that offers 61 key. - Alesis VX49 is using semi-weighted keybed. I don't really like it (I used it only for controlling VIP, I usually use other keyboard to control notes. Probably I don't like it because I haven't played real piano for so long lol) Side note : - if you're looking for tutorial for one of these controllers and can't find it, try to look for the tutorials for the sibling. I configured ableton live 9 on my Alesis VX49 using tutorial for Akai Advance >_< - If you're getting Akai Advance or Alesis VX49, be sure to DOWNLOAD ALL LATEST UPDATE. Earlier version of VIP is known to crash without any good reason. Also, at the time of writing, GuitarCenter have some used Akai Advance and Alesis VX49 at a very good price. I also bought used Alesis VX49, and Alesis said they'll be more than happy to release the license from the older owner (but ended up I don't have to, since I bought store demo product). Hope this helps!
King David looks like yes. I can't comment the rest. please notice that faders are different than knobs. I don't know your native language, so yeah lol.
Looking very useful. Just getting in the production world. Right now I'm using a MaschineMK2 with the Maschine software. I would love to know if this keyboard can be used for Maschine?
can i control multiple parameters with one knob(super knob) i.e ---the yamaha montage?... .If so, there would be no need in the Yamaha montage or the kronos :-)
Hi can u explain me Why I cant select patches from my advance 61 keyboard? I installed all software vip package and advance drivers but I never See any yellow selected patch/sound when I select with the dialer I just Dont know What im doing wrong When vip is open I also cant select any patch to play A sound with
@TheHotFalafel Likely too late for you, but if anyone else has this question -- VIP software for *used* boards -- InMusic currently (June 2017) supports them. Just log in to your account on their website and follow the registration process. If the board is not already registered, you will get instant access to the software and support docs. If it is registered, contact InMusic support and they can walk you through the process.
I am now purchasing a akai advance 61 and will in the near future purchase the komplete kontrol audio 6 which should give me more output flexibility. does this keyboard have semi-tone transpose function?
+bersstudio1 The Akai is superior IMO. I got a chance to play the Komplete Kontrol and Akai Advance and the Akai bed felt better and was smoother going between settings/sounds. Pretty awesome keyboard.
The only thing that may take some time is the VIP software. It works extremely well with NI products. I have heard it can be a little "special" with some VST libraries.
I use the MPC Ren to make beats but I love the plug-in Alchemy in Logic Pro X. If I get the advance Keyboard will I be able to play Alchemy inside of The MPC Ren software even though its only available inside Logic. As a matter of fact can I use any of the Logic VSts inside the MPC Ren since the VIP software finds all the plugins on your software?
as an owner of this keyboard i honestly would say that Akai Advance has great keys and knobs and pads but VIP software alone is pretty useless for me as a musician.
I`d like to send program changes from AKAI (Setlist mode) to my Yamaha MOTIF XS (Performances). Who can help me with the parameters i have to send........
+cutta J Not currently. However you can assign each plugin slot (there's 8) to a different note so when you can create chords, but not as intelligent as on the MPC
No, you can only get it by buying one of the keyboards it comes with (Akai Advance, M-Audio CTRL, Alesis VX). You can't even purchase it by itself, which makes me sad.
The VIP software is unusable if you're going to use it as follows: standalone (no DAW), and needing patches to synch to external MIDI. If that's what you want to do.. VIP can't handle this. That means that hundreds of your patches will not play ball as far as tempo-linked effects go. This is a deal breaker. VIP has no way to sync to external MIDI, if you're using it standalone. Akai is aware of the problem, and is just giving us the finger as far as updates go... thanks Akai.
just got it today. the shine isnt bad i hear ya but it looks sext af in my studio. with all my korg boardss my juno 60 it looks and works amazingly. 399 at gc this week 100 off

Thanks for a really excellent demo and for the others on your channel. Great stuff.
Stephen A. Sheehan does 3.0 take care of this?
Stephen A. Sheehan I got FL STUDIO 20 what’s better to buy MPK249 or ADVANCE49
Is it possible to be controlling a VST instrument with the keybed while triggering drum samples on the drum pads?
Yes, Right Click Each sound on Channel rack, Click Receive Notes from, They have to be in Separate outputs
This is the 3rd demo video i'm watching and not one demos the drumpads!
because nobody using the drumpads. including me.
also they are damn MASCHINE Masters. you expect them to play it, when they (probably) own maschine studio?
The pads are mainly used for muting if you have multiple instruments layered on 1 channel. That's prob why you do not see videos demo the drum pads. There velocity sensitive and they're prob better than most keyboards. But, the way the controller is setup you're more than likely not going to use to bang out a beat. Just my opinion since I own one.
Yeah the pads are pretty much useless for drumming. Too spaced apart.
Ryan DeLong Yep, you cannot fingerdrum with these. Mute buttons as big as this certainly is the most wasted estate ever in keyboard design.
Alex is this really what you get 'right outta the box '? or are there other steps (downloads) that I'd have to do before I can use it?
Quick and to the point. By the way, you unknowingly sold this controller to me
Great devlivery. Easy to understand. Thankyou so much.
I'm waiting to get mine in the mail; I ordered it off Amazon any reason why the 25 key version is $100 more expensive than the 49 key version?
For some reason my VIP Software won’t show anything but HYBRID patches. I have the full version of Pro tools and the ALL PLUG INS version of FL Studio. I see your show Mini Grand and I’ve even seen some with xPand and Vaccum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is this one best for protools first?
Awesome Akaia Again!
Hey man, hoping you can help. When I bring up the screen on the advance 49, it defaults to multi. When I select a patch its adding it to a multi. I simply want to load a single patch and play it across the keyboard. I dont get why this is happening.
Looks rly kl. I'm a big fan of moving as much as possible away from mouse pointing and clicking.
holy goodness midi keyboards are light years better now.. I got a m-audio axiom 49 and its great as far as the weighted keyed but other than it doesnt function well with FL studio at all
+Ave Mcree Rigt, seems hardware synths are thing of the past now. at least for the cheap bedroom producers
I ended up getting the taktile and a mpd232
I'm having a problem with updating software on my 49, could it be the operating system on my laptop?
I just messed up and bought the Akai Advanced 61 instead of a hardware synth hahah (Roland FA-06). I am hoping it's going to be great
Uriel Ortega how is it
It's fantastic! I already bought omnisphere 2 and have been using it live for a few weeks. Can you layer sounds using keyboard controllers only?
Just got the advance 49 but I definitely still favor my Roland DS 61. It's a cool set up except that browsing patches on the keyboard itself is cumbersome and find myself reaching for the mouse when it's coming to choosing patches and instruments.
Does it have sounds built in or is it just a controller? Can it be used by itself without a computer?
Hopefully I'm not to late but any type of controller needs a program to run on (computer.) This is a controller.
Aaah thank you and no you’re not too late 😉
trying to decide between this and the Maudio CTRL 49
add Alesis VX49 and you'll be more confused ;)
Rinaldo Jonathan yes my brother you just did confuse me....lol Why did I look at it?
well, if you can try everything in store, give it a shot. I simply can't, because nobody is selling them here and I need to import it from outside my country. I have Alesis VX49 anyway.

So the Maudio has 9 faders that's the only difference?
King David looks like yes. I can't comment the rest.
please notice that faders are different than knobs. I don't know your native language, so yeah lol.
Looking very useful. Just getting in the production world. Right now I'm using a MaschineMK2 with the Maschine software. I would love to know if this keyboard can be used for Maschine?
Good video. Thanks. Can you control effects like, let's say, SugarBytes ?
can i browse also my instrument rack patches created in ableton?
Hey, how do I get it so I press one of the performance pads and it actually plays a sample when I press the pad?
Hi. I heard it does not work with Nexus. Can you please check for me if possible. Thank you
Is this keyboard good or easy to use if you wanna make drums with the pads?
can you only use this if it's connected to a computer?
any other alternatives to this and NI keyboard?
Yes. The M-Audio CTRL49 and the Alesis VX49 also use the same VIP Software, but have slightly different hardware.
can i control multiple parameters with one knob(super knob) i.e ---the yamaha montage?... .If so, there would be no need in the Yamaha montage or the kronos :-)
Hello can you direct me where can I buy akai advanced 49
Hi can u explain me Why I cant select patches from my advance 61 keyboard?

u've just made my day, dear friend :)
Can you use Sony acid with Akai advance 49
Please Demo with Ableton, cuz it’s not many videos online about the Advance 49....almost sold this MF cuz it’s so difficult
Sooo is this A whole lot better than the mpk 249?
Does the vip software takes a toll on the cpu?
+Johnny Santiago Not really, its a wrapper and VST librarian.
Are there sounds innthis unit?
Does it work with Adobe Audition 3.o?
the arturia plugins shows up but without patches. and in the plugins scan settings they shows with exclamation mark ❗ whats that??
Do you absolutley need the provided software for it to function with other 3rd party plugins? I'm looking at used ones that have no software.
@TheHotFalafel
Likely too late for you, but if anyone else has this question -- VIP software for *used* boards -- InMusic currently (June 2017) supports them. Cool video, thanks man.
SOLD! at 6:19
Ok I wasn't intrigued by this controller until I saw this.
hey man can you put your own samples in the keyboard
Yes, with a sampler VST plugin. Something like Grace or Shortcircuit.
Guys can you direct me where to buy it ..the one I saw looks different with it
discontinued. which is why aka sucks. they make expensive products then discontinue it
hi , were did you get all thoses sftware ? like massive ect.. did you by theme ? because i have this akai and i have only 5 vst 0_o ......
Tutorial for the background music please ! :D
I am now purchasing a akai advance 61 and will in the near future purchase the komplete kontrol audio 6 which should give me more output flexibility. does this keyboard have semi-tone transpose function?
garribe staple yes on main, and move to the left
Are those drum pads? Or?
I have tha komplete kontrol, do you think tha akai is better??
+bersstudio1 Yes because the Akai works with ANY plugin instrument, including Komplete. Komplete Kontrol only works with NI instruments.
+Hellfire Beats Fa sho,, I guess I'll be sellin tha komplete kontrol...
+bersstudio1 The Akai is superior IMO. I got a chance to play the Komplete Kontrol and Akai Advance and the Akai bed felt better and was smoother going between settings/sounds. Pretty awesome keyboard.
+Musicman61554 Thanks for tha info.. I'm gonna Definitely try it out
The only thing that may take some time is the VIP software. It works extremely well with NI products. I have heard it can be a little "special" with some VST libraries.
how to record in daw ? please video
if i have a hardware Synth, where do i connect it, to the midi In of the Akai, or to the Audio Interface (my DAW is Ableton Live 9)?
+David German There's a MIDI OUT on the Advance, you can go direct and use the knobs and switches as MIDI CC's to control your outboard.
Will this work with Fl 20
Yes
If anyone wants to know, it seems to work in Mixcraft 8.1
can we purchase VIP without the controller?
No, this is only available with the Advance
Elite Beats - | Hip Hop Instrumentals | Rap Beats
i'm dead ass serious.. VIP is what makes this ctrlr special..!
+Elite Beats - | Hip Hop Instrumentals | Rap Beats until me. my video is maybe a week out as i just got the board today...
Because Alchemy is now proprietary to Logic, you can't really use it as a VST as far as I'm aware
Audio Ignite Thanks for responding. The Advance Keyboard still looks awesome. I might buy it this holiday season
as an owner of this keyboard i honestly would say that Akai Advance has great keys and knobs and pads but VIP software alone is pretty useless for me as a musician.
I`d like to send program changes from AKAI (Setlist mode) to my Yamaha MOTIF XS (Performances). Who can help me with the parameters i have to send........
Wtf is that track in the background. It's unreal! Need to hear that instrumental!
I'm having a hard time install The software can you help me
Bro you can use a garageband, logic pro x,pro tools,fl studio 19,abelton live, studio one, bro you can download it
Can you layer sounds on the keyboard without going into the computer?
You can. The interface on the screen allows you to assign sounds to any of the 8 parts.
thanks
SICK!
Thanks for responding!
some of those plugins you get don't work from AIRTech
Chord mode?
+cutta J Not currently. However you can assign each plugin slot (there's 8) to a different note so when you can create chords, but not as intelligent as on the MPC
Audio Ignite thanks for the reply, would like to see that in an update
+cutta J I think you might like what's coming in the update ;)
Audio Ignite Thanks! looking forward to it, then my decision of next midi keyboard will be a lot easier and should be finalized
Audio Ignite great to see that attention is being paid to requested features and updates are being made available
is the program free?
No, you can only get it by buying one of the keyboards it comes with (Akai Advance, M-Audio CTRL, Alesis VX). You can't even purchase it by itself, which makes me sad.
You can purchase VIP 3.0 now, it's $99 and works with a lot of different keyboards
Anybody using this with FL Studio ?
hahahahaha, or cakewalk? maybe sweetpea
British Boxer cakewalk is expired
OMG I WANT IT!!!!! But i think, it's a bit too expensive for me :D
hold off, its BORIIIIIING!
The VIP software is unusable if you're going to use it as follows: standalone (no DAW), and needing patches to synch to external MIDI. If that's what you want to do.. VIP can't handle this. Akai is aware of the problem, and is just giving us the finger as far as updates go... thanks Akai.
Has this been addressed in 3.0?
Laurence Vanhelsuwe I've always thought this keyboard was a gimmick
Advance49 or MPK249 better for FL studio 20?
