She should’ve ran more with the snake theme. Songs like hiss, boa, venom(sh*t talking song) Rattle (a$$ throwing song) Shed (vulnerability) Bite (gangsta record) constrictor(raunchy song)….she really missed a genius concept. The anime concept should have been a mixtape or whole other album concept. I feel like that would’ve solidified the era. Girl hire me at this point 🤦🏾♀️
@@oMgeeURLuV I don’t know how the concept was missed honestly….it’s low hanging fruit. The Era should’ve been all about the snake concept. Anime for the next era..
@mannymofo8487 it’s just going with the snake theme. Boa and Hiss aren’t creative names and are meant to compliment the snake concept. The point was that the anime concept should’ve been separate. If she made everything about snakes leading up to the album, she should’ve capitalized on the idea more.
I am a hottie and a Megan stan. However, it does get boring to hear the same sound, same energy on every track. Only true musicians and lover for the arts have the type of passion Zach Campbell has. It’s not from a place of malice. It’s a critique and one that is much needed.
This was such a tasteful critique Zach gave! Meg (and all artists) needs this type of knowledgeable candor to GROW. This was an honest, supportive and encouraging!
@@ItsKells Exactly! The way this generation and the media pushes mediocrity now days is what’s wrong with music today! I love Meg dooooown! But it’s time to talk about something new. @@opulentbliss a critique doesn’t need comparison to another artist. If you want to critique an artist focus on the body of work and not whether or not she had plastic surgery. That has nothing to do with critiquing. Some won’t understand my critique of his critique hence the obtuse statement I made. Attacking someone personally is not a critique.
Those songs are the only ones that are different and they are doing well in streaming not surprised at all. The japanese mix was unique rest of the album? not so much.
I could agree with this if Traumazine didn’t exist. But that’s literal evidence that she knows how to do other things when she wants. This album is called MEGAN because it’s Megan, the anime, the hot girl sh*t, the vulnerability, the southern aspect. She’s not a pop star she’s a rapper, she does not have the same flow.
Yes...😂 because the people didn't really listen. All her projects have been different. Themed different. But I guess hearing "all these b*tches are my sons" for 20 years will make you think that.
@@RandomUser7199there’s a difference between an era and a theme. as a hottie, i completely agree with the music needing to evolve. i said the album is not bad but it’s things she’s done already. i want to hear a new sound and a more evolved version of the music. for this to be a self titled album, i didn’t feel like it was a MEGAN album. the music has to grow. the image and brand of Megan is SICKENING. we need something different.
Yes! Thanks you this is exactly what I’ve bee saying! I felt like it was way too early in her career to have a self titled album. On top of that she not a versatile artist! I love traumazine because it was different. She had slow songs party songs and borderline ballads on there. But this new album was boring there’s a disconnect because Megan is not a versatile artists, she’s not evolving musically but she def needs to. I hate to say this but I wouldnt be surprised if Jay and bey move away from her at some point.
The album was very southern true to Megan as a person from where she’s from and her biggest musical influences like UGK specifically pimp C. I get what you're saying, but don't you think that will make women in general master the game faster? We get schooled to learn and evolve. There is no way we are going to catch up with male hip-hop and rap, but we gotta try. Nicki's kinda shown that and while she is not 'friendly' for others enough to mentor others, she studied and bodied the game so much, that ft. Nicki is its own genre (imo). Doja is next. Doechii too. There's a saying that goes if you've heard one of Megan's song, then you've heard all of Megan's songs. Her music is so repetitive and stagnant. The only thing she's switched up this era is her hair. She needs to evolve otherwise she'll be 8 years in the game with the same music.
No shade Zach but Traumazine was an amazinggg project for Meg & quite different/ experimental but y’all (the gp) didn’t stream 😭 Y’all want her to change the subject matter but when she does y’all don’t tune in. I think it’s because Meg has the same flow in pretty much almost every song. There’s not much change in her cadence and it always has a rough-esque vibe to it. Her rhymes r lethal, but even in songs like Cobra where she’s been more vulnerable still doesn’t come off as her being stripped down
And this came from a singer that don't push his own work as much as he does and should so sometimes he projects because he knows he deserves more too and he has high appreciation for women. He should be a publicist or something while having a team push his music.

And if we’re being honest Nicki shouldn’t even be in a conversation about female rap albums in the first place bc girlie releases pop albums, not rap albums. It’s fraud.
@@jinx-1then you’re not being completely honest, literally all music platforms - spotify, apple music, etc listed nicki minaj’s albums as hip-hop/rap albums. it is nicki minaj’s versatility that allowed her to transition between pop and hip hop seamlessly, just like how doja cat glides around r&b and rap. incorporation of another genre doesn’t invalidate the fact that it is dominantly hip-hop. don’t be a hater and a liar 🤥
not all music has to be emotive or be within your standard of listening. that’s why there’s different generes for a reason. just listen to a different artist and keep it pushin.
Genuinely curious on what people want to hear from her in order to consider her a more versatile artist. She has songs rapping about her anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, using sex and being hyper sexual as a coping mechanism (although, granted, that did seem to go over a lot of y’all’s heads but how’s it her fault you couldn’t read between the lines?) she has songs talking about grieving, being backstabbed and betrayed, being surrounded by fake people and feeling alone, never being checked on by anyone in her life, and the list can go on. She’s made deep songs, fun songs, and twerk music which yes is her brand so yes she’s always gonna include that. It seems like people want her to stop rapping about sex completely in order to consider her a versatile artist but I’m not sure why she’s expected to step completely away from her brand??? Sonically, her discography and especially this album is incredibly diverse and she explores different sounds and styles a lot. She’s a Texan rapper so she’s always gonna include Texas-esque rap which is also what I think people want her to move away from in order to consider her a diverse artist (and tbh it basically just seems like people want her to change herself completely but she shouldn’t have to do that and we all know if she did she’d be called fake) She’s rapping in a whole other language in the album, included a lot of anime references which no other mainstream rapper is doing to my knowledge and that made her album more unique to me. I’m just not sure what people want from her. I guess if the lyrics aren’t rapped in a bunch of different goofy voices she’ll never be counted as a ‘versatile’ artist.
Period point blank. Like the way she was able to infuse her love for Anime and blend different language and culture so seamlessly into the final product is remarkable within itself. The only female rapper genuinely dabbling in and uplifting that market.
More live instrumentation. More musicality. Even on tour right now, there’s no band. Who the hell goes on tour without a band? Subconsciously I believe people genuinely want to hear drums and not from a drum kit in Garage Band but a human player who grew up playing the drums. Just more instruments and human voices singing background.
You pretty much hit the nail on the head; audiences want significantly less hyper sexualized lyrics. I do agree that she has been versatile in talking about anxiety, depression, the loss of her parents, betrayals, and etc; but all that seems to be overshadowed by her hypersexual lyrics. I think most female rappers will benefit sonically by taking a step back from the thot music
I’m noticing a theme here when ppl critique her. She needs to work on her voice inflections and she does need more musicality. She gets amazing samples and doesn’t fully flush them out, BOA needed way more of that Gwen sound. Her voice makes ppl tune out what she’s saying hence them saying “everything is the same” when it’s not! She has to learn how to expand her actual sound while incorporating the music
Don't have to listen or watch to know cadence is the word yall looking for and not flow. She's given 4-5 flows in songs before. Changes in her voice is what you want. Subject matter changes but do people actually listen when it does? I get it but we ain't gone act like she's never done what yall asking for.
She doesn’t have diverse flows. She has diverse rhyme schemes. They are different. Vocal intonation is not the same thing as cadence. Megan has a very monotone voice. It’s hard to follow subject matters when given in a monotone voice. For example poets and actors use inflections to make points or lead their listener to their point. Kendrick and Nicki do this very well. It helps to build their artistry. Megan can do much more to evolve. If she doesn’t then she will stay selling 64 K. Enough with the twerking and sex.

There's a time and a place for the City girl/hot girl ish, and sadly Meghan's fan base may just be aging up outta that era of life.
Nicki had A LOT to share on PF2. Nicki spoke about her loss of her father, learning to be a better wife and mother, finding forgiveness for herself, etc. The album shared so much about what she was going through the past 5+ years and that's why people connect. Yes, we love the upbeat sexy songs, but we also love the deep songs that we can also relate to or at least humanize the artist with. And people compare EVERY rap girly to Nicki because she is the bar based on her longevity and stats. Fuck the stan beef. It is about respecting what the standard is in someone's field. Just like we do it for the men (Drake vs KDot vs Cole, etc). We do it with the women. It shouldn't be so controversial or weird.
She’s not a great lyricist. Her vocabulary is very limited. She doesn’t seem like a poet like Kendrick or a wordsmith like nicki or Eminem. I find her rap style so boring. It’s decent but I’m sorry she is not a star.

I actually think Traumazine was way more introspective and vulnerable than any of her other projects. And when it comes to your point on the Megan album not having its own sound I agree, Cobra and Mamushi for me sonically were the standouts when it comes to her evolution in terms of sound. I like this album but Traumazine has been her best album so far IMO

Yeah I agree. Traumazine just had the heat, hatred, anger, sadness, sexiness it needed. Not to mention her 3 song opener with NDA, ungrateful and not nice. That will forever be an iconic intro & she has years to top it. Her downfall is hooks. If she gets a masterclass on hooks, shows us more of her nerdy side & keep the great videos, she’ll be forever good
I feel like her mom gave her a lot of coaching, positive and constructive feedback, and probably encouraged her creativity. Now Megan has a lot more executives in her life whole enjoy the profits of her classic sound, and are encouraging Megan to chase money more than creativity. Megan’s creative as hell! I think she’s more creative when she has creatively focused people in her life. I hope she gets that again soon. Holly was a rapper herself, and there’s really sweet clips on them together, like Holly coaching Megan to go harder and emphasize certain words on Realer, and them playing piano together. ❤

I think it’s 2 things. 1) we fell in love with Megan cause she was very clearly having fun and developing the southern dirty trap sound for females. The lyrics aren’t fun anymore because of the trauma she’s faced in the industry ofc but her music just feels lifeless sometimes and I wonder if that’s how she feels. She still hasn’t topped Fever and Tina Snow and those projects were repetitive in concept but she felt so natural over those beats. traumazine was close & gave us Ungrateful which is my favorite song by her to date. and Good News had some fun tracks. She had a niche and I feel like if she stayed in that lane she’d be selling more. 2) it seems like she’s trying to be as diverse as other girls in the game but the only thing changing is these instrumentals and features she’s doing. Everyone can’t do that - especially approaching different music with the same cadence everytime. I feel like if she sticks to that trap sound she’d be able to find a different flow & experiment with it. She grew up on Yo Gotti and Juicy J. Like the Renee rapp song was cute but that wasn’t Megan’s lane fr.

@tinasworld2705 Oh most definitely! I'm just saying she kinda sounds like a freestyle artist who twerks to everything. But a bad one, lol. Like off SoundCloud. The beats are literally the hardest thing about her.
This is why I hate that Nicki turned female hip-hop into Hip-POP Y'all are always telling female rappers who are strictly hip-hop to "switch it up" let's be real y'all want hear them rapping over pop beats with a little singing in between and if that's what you want to hear then go listen to Nicki! All of them have bars and I honestly believe you don't listen to what she actually said.... she has an amazing pop song as well (Worthy). She has a whole PIMP C VERSE ( Paper Together was some real rap shit nobody actually appreciates 😂).... And I do believe 3+ of the songs charted on BB Hot 200 .... if this isn't versatility idk what is.
So glad you said that about Nicki’s features you put all them together literally different flows and all you put Megan’s together you getting basically what her albums give
I agree with almost everything said. I just hope that we ask these male rappers to evolve in their artistry as well. Yes. Kanye has evolved. Yes Kendrick has evolved.. yes there are male artists that do. But it isn't ASKED of them to. Lil Durk has been making the same songs since he's been an artist. No evolution whatsoever. And ppl eat it up every era. When Gunna was working with Normani and Tyla, I expected an evolution sonically. I felt like this was his way of reaching different audiences so he could explore different sounds. But his music still sounds the same. And no expectation for him to evolve. I would also counter your argument by asking the question, "does every artist need to have a concept album? Does every artist need to be a albums artist in order to put out albums??" I ask because I think there are some rappers that don't really care about eras as much as we do. There are some rappers that really just want u to hear them rap. I don't think of Megan as an albums artist. I always saw her as one of those rappers that I go to when I just wanna binge listen to her rapping or freestyling. Sometimes u don't care about an album and u just wanna go down a rabbit hole of your faves work. There's always that artist that u may binge every now and then, but you're not going out of the way to listen to a album from. With the rock sound of Cobra, and the crazy bars from Hiss, I thought she was gonna actually give us a concept. I did. But I was wrong... So maybe Megan isn't interested in being an albums artist. Maybe she wants to be more like lil Durk or polo g or NBA young boy and just do what works for her already. Maybe she's fine dropping albums of her just rapping. Comparing her to Nicki doesn't work because those are two completely different artists. Just because y'all see Nicki Minaj doing certain things with her artistry, doesn't necessarily mean that every other artist needs to follow behind that. This is not monkey see monkey do. This is artistry. This is hip hop. And the only reason Nicki was as successful as she was in charts and sells is because Nicki started her career being a pop girl. She's a rapper, but sonically, she has been a pop girl. Her music didn't give HIP HOP in terms of the SONICS until the Queen era. If Drake was doing anything Nicki did with his music y'all would still call him Pop so don't even argue me on that please. Hip Hop is a style, a genre and a culture. Rap is a vocal lyrical style and is one aspect of hip hop but it is not hip hop entirely. Clearly Nicki has proven u can rap over a dance pop beat, a house beat(altho queer black folk in Chicago been doing that)etc. So I feel that to put Nicki in conversation with purely hip hop artists even if y'all do believe she's the queen of rap, is kinda unreasonable. Artists that are not pop girls should not be expected to do pop girl numbers. And Nicki Minaj would not have the success she has today if her music was 100% hip hop. Unless she took on a Kendrick Lamar direction musically. A lot of garbs are too overemotional and illogical to even hear that being the truth. But being the queen of rap, is not the same as being the queen of HIP HOP. There's a reason Nicki is labeled this "queen of rap" and not "queen of Hip hop". She leaned heavily on pop music in order to sell and she tries to make herself feel like she's above other rap girls because of her ability to sell but she only sold because her sound was pop. There's a reason why they put her in the Trinity with Beyonce and Rihanna who are POP artists. And it's not cuz she was the only female rapper allowed to exist. She depended on pop music and pop elements to sell records. And like the music industry, shes done a great job with fooling the average simple minded consumer with their genre illiteracy. If you think Nicki Minaj is getting played at a white gay night club or bar because she "writes her raps" and not because her Katy Perry/Kesha/black lady Gaga built ass sound appeals to their tastes and sensibilities, you're suffering from genre illiteracy and you need to do your research around rap, hip hop and pop music that isn't just biased towards Nicki. If you are going to make Nicki comparisons, compare her to Doja Cat. Doja Cat is a rapper but she is a pop girl. Stop comparing Nicki Minaj to female rappers who don't do pop music. Megan is not a pop girl. Megan is HIP HOP. There are artists that stick with whatever works for them and are fine with the audience they have. And if the issue is worrying about her sales and her chart success, then that shit matters to her. It shouldn't matter to you or anyone else because you're not gonna get a check from it at the end of the day. Plus she's independent. So if she flops, she doesn't have to worry about getting shelved. She can just keep putting out music and growing organically as an artist. It should only really be a problem for YOU if you mainly feel that u wanna hear Megan explore new sounds and topics. If that's the case, then it's completely valid. TLDR: Artists can't just evolve when YOU say it's time for them to evolve. If they try to force a rebrand, y'all are gonna call them inauthentic anyway. Artists have to evolve when it is authentically their time to. When they feel and know it is time to. And if her fans feel it is time for her to evolve, hopefully she'll feel the same too. Cuz I actually do. I want to hear Megan talk about different things. I wanna hear Megan on different styles of music but I want her to do it when it feels right for her, when it feels genuine. When it feels authentic. Not when the general public is forcing her to do something she's not ready to do yet. Nothing ive said is towards Zach personally. Im allowed to enjoy Zach's content and disagree. I am allowed to uplift Nickis pen and her gift and STILL TELL THE TRUTH about her.
I get where you're coming from, but I'm here to say didn't you hear Moody Girl, Cobra, Mamushi and Otaku Hot Girl? Two vulnerable tracks where she delves more into her mental health, guitar/rock vibes and literally saying words in Japanese. Also what about "Anxiety" and the track "Her" from Traumazine? Literally a vogue anthem which I felt was such a different sound for Meg. I do feel like she has given us versatility if I'm honest. Also let's not forget the amazing pop feature she did with Reneé Rapp, I don't think we should underestimate her creativity and confuse flow with cadence
Exactly. She does stay in a formula but experiments. And that's what anyone who knows themselves but knows what is around them and through their own experiences.
Agreed! She’s been showcasing her versatility but it clearly goes over people’s heads. it’s almost like people forget this is Megan’s art and she has every right to express her art how she chooses to. She’s already experimented with different sounds and themes. Ppl just complain about nothing.
The music critique about the repetitiveness is a good point and would be better received without accusing her of getting plastic surgery especially since she has never claimed that. Came off mean-spirited and like a backhanded compliment. Imagine if someone said, “oh Zach honey you look phenomenal, plastic surgery and all” after you say you didn’t?
He‘s just tired of celebs lying about surgery, which seems to me obvious in this case. It‘s just his impression, you need to grow up and stop with this mean girl interpretation shit. ItS giVinG meAn sPiRiT nooo it‘s just the truth
@@itsme-dt1xb Again, that impression (not “truth,” we don’t have her medical records) can dilute any valid critique and perceived professionalism because accusing her of lying about plastic surgery is out of place in a discussion of her music evolution (per the video title). Not sure which part of that confuses you to the point of writing out that childish response. Regardless this is simply my impression:)
A lot of gay men forget that they are still MEN first and foremost!!! I really disliked the way Zach kept hating on her use of the word ‘pussy’ like he never will experience the discrimination and discomfort we have made to be feel surrounding our vaginas. Megans bold choice of language actually means something to me and a lot of other women.
he already explained it very well. her appearance has leveled up (with some allegedly small adjustments) & she looks amazing. therefore her as a brand has improved. however, her artistry & sound has remained the same year after year. so he is saying he wants her music to evolve the same way her brand & appearance has evolved.
Megan is a talented rapper but she is not an ARTIST. She doesnt seem to have that passion in music as Nicki or Doja. This is why the two can experiment and explore. They are musicians.
the thing about Meg is that she’s likable and bankable. so even if she never sells another album, like you said the people support ALL her other stuff🤷🏽♀️ so perhaps she just feels like if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
@@joshuasparrow2685her music isn’t the same as her old music because SHES EVOLVED!!!!! Pf2 is very mature. Talks about motherhood, relationship struggles in a positive way versus before when it was toxic relationship songs, death of her father, etc. Nicki music has DEPTH, through her music you get to KNOW Nicki. Megan music is redundant and surface level.
@@NauticaLove15 I feel like her most personal album is The Pinkprint (which is my personal favorite from her) I didn’t get that same feeling from her with PF2, I feel like maybe 3 songs were personal, but I feel like most of the songs were just throwaway songs could’ve been on Queen.
Tbh i liked the album. I think megan did well but i also think she has more up her sleeve than this. Maybe not but if she doesnt im satisfied with this album
I feel like when most people say they want her to “evolve” or show versatility they want her to sing or go pop like other artists have. Megan likes to rap and has remained a hip hop artist. I enjoy her sound because it’s unique to her. It’s only with women in music that we pressure them to sound different and reinvent themselves every album, meanwhile the men make whatever music they want with the same subjects and mediocre albums 😂
@@brittlia_ No deadass!!! Something for thee Hotties was literally her best project, everything else just falls flat to me. She can’t make an actual, cohesive album.
He can’t because Nicki is the pinkprint. No matter if the girls are beefing, they lowkey admire Nicki’s talent and longevity in the business. Who wouldn’t wanna still be leading their craft 15 yrs in the game?
Having different eras explains it perfectly!! It shouldn't constantly sound the same, and that's where Meg loses me. I really want her to win, but something has to change. I completely agree with this commentary. 💜
@ArtemisBianco and I thought that album was ok but that's it. I still think the same. Ya'll come back with one album out of her whole catalog and think it's supposed to be something.
This didn't give criticism to me. It gave you are trying to get your jokes off, and get engagement off her. You can say you dislike an album, but to say she hasn't evolved is completely asinine. Traumazine was her best body of work, and many bloggers stated she was a "victim", therefore I don't want to hear any complaints. And please stop mentioning nicki. She has not evolved. PF2 was horrible, and had no substance. Compared to her older work, that album is a joke, but once again you guys use megan for engagement, and it's getting old. Many rappers, male and female, rap about the same thing in different variations. Rather, it's getting money, sex, drugs, relationships, opps, it's all the same. If you don't like her music that's fine, but to say she hasn't evolved is downright ridiculous. .
I do agree when you said that if Megan was to change the cadence in her voice more in her songs it would do a lot for her music BUT I also feel that if she did this the barbs would only say that she's just trying to sound like Nicki and I think thats a fear Megan may have when it comes to changing her cadence. If people gave the girl the grace to do so, i think she would commit to things and "evolve" more as an artist, but unfortunately, people already nitpic her music as it is.
@@jacobquinn1383 respectfully I don’t think Megan gives a damn what the barbz thinks. I doubt that’s reason for hesitating to change her cadence, Nicki hasn’t been the first, only or last person to do so
@wesleya.5735 No I get where you're coming from she more than likely don't gaf what they think I was just saying that it could be a possibility and I agree that Nicki isn't the first to change her cadence I just remember they literally did that exact thing to Doja saying things like "she's trying to sound like Nicki" or "she think she's the new Nicki".
Lemme say this Zach, AS a Hottie, you’re sooooo right about several points. Megan DOES need to show growth in an album and evolve the artistry. I do feel like some of the songs were stagnant and not as good as dare I say, Traumazine. I think there were some songs that could’ve stayed off the album and there are styles of songs that she’s experimented with that I think she should lean further into. I would even go on to say that the whole flow of the album is something that could be worked on. The whole point of the snake motif was renewal and rebirth. Opening it with “Hiss” was perfect, but the sad girl music should have come in the middle and the fun anime stuff towards the end. Why because she could’ve tied the snake motif with the stages of grief. And anime/manga seemed to be a healing factor for her. She should strongly consider the direction of an album as a whole instead of stringing songs together and calling it an album. What I don’t like and disagree with is the sneak dissing (softening the clear blows with “no shade” just tea), bringing up rumors that are unconfirmed (though you quickly said “Let’s just wait to see it confirmed first”) and comparing Megan who while she’s been around since what? 2018, didn’t really pop off until 2020 to legendary POP stars and a legendary rap star. Her peers are Cardi B and Doja Cat and could’ve been used as a valid criticism against Megan’s stagnation. And let’s be clear, the beef Hotties have with the Barbz is NOT one sided, but your perspective to me was very much so “Barb, but one of the good ones.” I just feel like this critique could’ve been better and way less messy, respectfully.
this is exactly how i felt the critiques aren't wrong in the slightest but the micro shade was unnecessary. His delivery when he talks about megan needs a little work but his criticisms are 100% vaild.
@@BinnThereDoneThat Like clear shots such as talking about surgery? Whether there was surgery or not is no one’s business but hers and her doctors and what does that have to do with the music? Would he bring up unconfirmed rumors with Nicki that had nothing to do with PF2? Doja? Or just the artists who he’s not intimately connected to. There were so many shots taken and some backhanded compliments in this critique that I wonder about its genuineness.
@@Starfire10982 yeah the surgery jab was so tired and i was rather annoyed when he said that. Weight loss will make you look different, which he should know that but that's another topic for another day. However i do feel like there was genuine critique here but the fact that he's been saying this for a while might contribute to his cadence in the video. It could get a little irritating when you KNOOOOOW an artist can do so much more with their craft and they just haven't done it yet. It's like when your mad someone doesn't see their own potential, like i said previously he needs work when it comes to his delivery with meg and the hotties.
This is the first Real Album. She may be a star already but she really started over and this is her new beginning. Maybe that’s the reason she named it Megan. Everything else was her getting out of that contract. Does she have room to grow? Yes. But I think she did great for not having ghost writers and doing it on her own. She isn’t dramatic like Doja, Nicki, or GaGa. She isn’t a singer like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Rihanna (And they don’t write all of their hits). This is why I don’t think they are comparable. Next album I do expect more but I support the album.
Then she will never stand out as musical artist. Megan needs a cohesive era! I was so shocked Cobra and that Japanese style didn’t take over this album how it should. Ppl don’t give music as long as listen as they use to. They hear it once and than they’re done! Megan has been around for some time she can’t do this again. She’s amazingly gifted with her rapping but, to be considered a great she needs to push her musicality!
Y’all are letting the title go over y’all’s heads we all love Megan and we want to see the best for her. I totally agree I would love see a different era from her.
Yeeeees however Where Them Girls At, BAS, Otaku Hot Girl, and Miami Blue gave me EVERYTHING I needed. They were bops but I feel like they were overlooked because of the rest of the album. Like I could see alllll of those ones topping charts. She just keeps pushing the wrong ones.
talk about megan the stallion without mentioning Nicki Minaj-Difficultly: impossible the comparisons are irrelevant at this point because they don’t have the same sound. comparing someone from Nyc and Houston. it’s a different culture. not everyone wants to be like nicki. and at this point just drop it. come to a realization that the music is just not for you.
They are being compared because of their skill level of rapping...both very high...yet the cultural differences does make a difference...New York is just savage and hit different...Nicki was direct with Kim and crushed her...Megan still throwing subs?...after Nicki disrespected her mama?
I feel like if you and others who didn't actually listen to Traumazine wouldn't know the other side of Megan. MEGAN defines her as a hot girl, Texas/southern rapper, anime lover, girl who loves to have a good time and just live her best life. What rapper do you know actually rapped in Japanese and took the time to appreciate the language??? It is known that she has been an anime lover since high school. She stated she wanted to have fun with this album. She has vulnerable songs like Cobra AND Moody Girl. I feel like people need to just actually take the time to listen and not be biased towards the next person imo.
Been a Megan fan since she was “underground”. Listen….truth be told, I’ve been saying this about her since 2019. I want moreeee. She got the chops - maybe she just needs some more life experiences and maturity. She’ll get me excited with one or two songs then fall back into repetitive theme (Traumazine was AMAZING). I want so much more from her. She improved her stage presence and choreography…I want the same for her bars. 24:18 the hooks have been horrible for a long time so the fact that people actually help is 😢
After seeing her on tour, I had to come back to say while your critique is absolutely valid, you can tell she is a student of Bey. She is one of the rap girls giving you a REAL show. She is a great performer, her breath control is insane and has great choreography. I think her album could have been better BUT I think her live shows and energy is what will put her above the other girls. Lowkey, the only rap girl touching her LIVE is Doja.
Evolve? You got some nerve. This is one of her best albums. I love most of the songs. Her past albums were cute but u can tell she had creative control on this album. If ur a Nicki fan then ofc u will not like what she says. The garbz hating on the comments are funny to make it seem like it’s other people not liking her album. But they the first one to comments on her tweets. It’s an agenda they do with all artists Nicki don’t like. And it’s quite sad. If anything, they’re the lap dogs. 🐕
zach you be hard on her fr only because of your stance with nicki and it's so messed up that y'all let that dictate how you feel. constantly comparing her work to nickis as if nicki hasn't been in the industry longer than her, it's unnecessary. it doesn't need to evolve, you just need to stop comparing her to nicki.
it doesn’t matter if nicki’s been in the game longer lol her old work always had a new theme and new experimental shit .. megan isn’t a new artist anymore anyways babes .
@@taehartsyouu Megan isn’t new but she also hasn’t been in the game for 20+ years like Nicki has. Megan should be compare to Cardi B or Doja but to compare her to icons like Bey or Rih and or Pop artists like Tay or Billie made no sense to me.
I feel as though Nicki didn't "evolve" so to say, she definitely went in a more "commercial" direction that was contrary to the "itty bitty piggy" beginning she had. However to me, I hear alot of the same same coming from her. With that being said, it's really early in Megan's career, she's staying true to her, she's doing what works for her and her supporters & she's doing it as an Indi Artist! I believe she's peeling like an onion and I'm enjoying the layers!

PF2 was great, went #1 and sold VERY well! it was versatile and had something for everyone. And when I say versatile, I mean none of the songs sound the same. I know yall can’t relate.
As a barb, I was not a fan at first. Like at all. Only bopped with around 5 songs…now, every single one has grown on me. Pink Friday 2 is definitely an album you have to give time, and definitely not terrible.
Only nicki HATERS don't like pink friday 2. Real listeners will appreciate how good it is. It has atleast 10 songs that could be a single. We can't say that about alot of albums including Megan's. Megan doesn't know how to do a song.
I say this as someone who’s supported this channel for years and also, someone who doesn’t refer to themselves as a “stan” or “fan” of anyone. That said, what is with the shady remarks? Like 25:19 for example, saying that woman has gotten surgery done with no factual evidence is simply cruel! You’ve done this a couple of times lately. You’ve done it when reacting to one of Latto’s videos. It’s a recurring thing with you now! To be funny and say/ask if someone has gotten work done. Like I thought this was about the craft… the music. Why are we discussing if she’s gotten work done to her face? There’s no correlation.
she just comes way to rough on most of this songs... I think it s because she approach her music with a freestyle thinking while others are more use to a studio artist approach
In my opinion a self titled album should show the signature sound of that artist. Not be a complete shift and sound like something we’ve never heard from her before. The megan album says this is megan thee stallion and I think a lot of people don’t understand that that’s the concept here. Traumazine was her branching out because she didn’t feel like herself anymore after what she had gone through and this album is her coming back into herself.
Thank you!!! It’s self titled for a reason!! This is HER project that she wanted to do HER way on HER record label!! If you like it you like it & if you don’t gtfo it’s just simply not for you🤷🏾♀️ No need to make a 30 minute TH-cam video or write a long ass paragraph about how you dislike it & comparing her to other artists. No shade..... and with all due respect..... Coming here after watching the Ice Spice video...... Can we just agree that you're just a Nicki stan, I mean thats it, you just like Nicki and you are biased toward people that Nicki doesn't like. Period.
Yeah I don’t like the shadiness of this video. Critique artists on their music all day long. There’s no issue but bringing up whether or not she’s had work and bringing up rumors about her is very unnecessary. It just makes everything you’re saying come off as disingenuous. If you’re going to critique her as an artist do that and stay in that lane.
Great idea…. Like use your fans to come up with ideas. Barbs started Gag City and it became a movement.
Now this is an idea!! Great concept instead of changing song titles to match the theme… make songs related to the theme
Do you know that 'Mamushi' is Japanese pit viper? It still follow her album's concept
I am a hottie and a Megan stan. However, it does get boring to hear the same sound, same energy on every track. Only true musicians and lover for the arts have the type of passion Zach Campbell has. It’s not from a place of malice. It’s a critique and one that is much needed.

He should be a publicist or something while having a team push his music.

you can’t talk about female rap without mentioning Nicki. Nicki bars & versatility set the bar too high.
No the bar is high enough. If Megan wants to compete with international stars she needs to step the game up. All the rappers like her who didn’t step their game up got left in 2019-2022. We don’t hear about Erica Banks, Saweetie, Iggy Azalea none of them. And Megan is starting to become another Saweetie.
The bars in question are “foot foot foot” and versatility in question is her copying Lil Kim‘s black barbie”/“I‘m the best“ persona and running with it for 15 years🤡🤡

She’s a Texan rapper so she’s always gonna include Texas-esque rap which is also what I think people want her to move away from in order to consider her a diverse artist (and tbh it basically just seems like people want her to change herself completely but she shouldn’t have to do that and we all know if she did she’d be called fake)
She’s rapping in a whole other language in the album, included a lot of anime references which no other mainstream rapper is doing to my knowledge and that made her album more unique to me.
Same idk what people want

TLDR:
Artists can't just evolve when YOU say it's time for them to evolve.
Not a lie said
I get where you're coming from, but I'm here to say didn't you hear Moody Girl, Cobra, Mamushi and Otaku Hot Girl?

@@user-up1hi9jk3hwhat is it than?
@@user-up1hi9jk3h But whether you think it is or not, she still showcased versatility with that song and feature alone
A lot of gay men forget that they are still MEN first and foremost!!! Megans bold choice of language actually means something to me and a lot of other women.
also what does “potential” surgery have to do with her music 🤔
he already explained it very well. her appearance has leveled up (with some allegedly small adjustments) & she looks amazing. therefore her as a brand has improved. however, her artistry & sound has remained the same year after year. so he is saying he wants her music to evolve the same way her brand & appearance has evolved.

Megan is a talented rapper but she is not an ARTIST. She doesnt seem to have that passion in music as Nicki or Doja. This is why the two can experiment and explore. They are musicians.
the thing about Meg is that she’s likable and bankable. so even if she never sells another album, like you said the people support ALL her other stuff🤷🏽♀️ so perhaps she just feels like if it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Well is she trying to be the next Queen Of Rap or not?...because if she is that type of attitude ain't gone cut it

Asf cause they all the same
I get what you're saying but let's be honest. Nicki's old music doesn't compare to her current work, it seems stale as well.
“ these new rap chicks are boring” lmao yall really do the most. it’s so many new girls out and you telling me they ALL are boring? like come on😂
@@joshuasparrow2685her music isn’t the same as her old music because SHES EVOLVED!!!!! Pf2 is very mature.

He can’t because Nicki is the pinkprint. No matter if the girls are beefing, they lowkey admire Nicki’s talent and longevity in the business. Who wouldn’t wanna still be leading their craft 15 yrs in the game?
her career will always be tied to nicki minaj
Who is Nikki?
If Nicki is the standard it’s not ever gonna be possible
Having different eras explains it perfectly!! It shouldn't constantly sound the same, and that's where Meg loses me. I really want her to win, but something has to change. I completely agree with this commentary. 💜
Y’all say this as if Traumazine doesn’t exist. It’s why I can’t take y’all seriously
If you don't like her music that's fine, but to say she hasn't evolved is downright ridiculous. .
Thank you for this 🙌🏾

@@jasminecurtis95 you welcome, I was shocked by some of the things he said, just ridiculous.
@@jacobquinn1383 yeah that’s true the barbz will always project absurdities of these truly authentic girls trying to be like her but we know better
@@Starfire10982 agree! He tried to cover it with the no shade but he was definitely being shady as hell.
Yesssss he had amazing points but, that bias came out! There were also ways he could’ve gave her good critiques so she could shift it next.
Next album I do expect more but I support the album.
this is her third studio album come on now. she won a Grammy for her debut album 4 years ago.
maybe she should get ghost writers than. Or someone to give her a new cadence.
Traumazine felt more like a Megan self-titled album than her actual self-titled album
Those are excuses.

THIS IS WHAT I WISH HE WOUODVE POINTED OUT. That girl chooses the worse songs as singles fr lol
Otaku Hot Girl should definitely be a single.
Yes where them girls at is the best song on the album to me I love that song
YESS spin, moody girl !!! this album is good
How she pick the wrong ones, but had 3+ charting songs on BB Hot 200? From that album mind you....
talk about megan the stallion without mentioning Nicki Minaj-Difficultly: impossible
the comparisons are irrelevant at this point because they don’t have the same sound. comparing someone from Nyc and Houston. it’s a different culture. not everyone wants to be like nicki. and at this point just drop it. come to a realization that the music is just not for you.
24:18 the hooks have been horrible for a long time so the fact that people actually help is 😢
Right...whoever is helping might be trying to sabotage her...also...every song doesn't need a hook
That album literally sounded the same. There is no diversity.

Mamushi and Otaku are cool though because she's speaking Japanese. At least she stays true to herself while being experimental.
Outside of the Japanese songs, yes.
@@LohanHill-Porter-CarterI don’t know why she doesn’t do a anime themed album since she loves it. And it would be SICK.
