Two suggestions; Put the top insulator on first. To gain leverage turn the screw driver upside down using the handle for more prying moment. It would act as a pry bar, being a larger surface.
Just the title has made me hit the like button before even finishing the whole vid. Recently had new ss exhaust fitted, but found but it scrapes edge of my sloped driveway. Turns out its the flange between mid and rear section - where my STTDCi used to have a single piece from flexi pipe back. With 170k miles, thought I'd try replacing hangers in hope new ones arent as stretched as old ones. But hagd been struggling to fit. Didnt know about rubber grease.

My bracket used to look like that but it broke. Theres now a piece sticking out of that rubber mount . I know its expensive to weld that thing back so i tried looking for exhaust hanger and clamp from autoparts but those are too high. My exhaust pipe is right next to that rubber mount like yours. The one that I saw is for exhaust pipes that go way lower than that rubber mount
Wrong method, You made an easy job look hard work. First just cut both parts of the old rubber off and then fit the TOP one then the bottom, because the bottom even jacked up has some play in it if you put some flat wood between the jack and exhaust.
OK so DO NOT follow this guys advice. I fit it on the top mount first and it was impossible to fit it into the lower mount. I had to cut it off and buy a new one. Bottom mount first and I had it fitted within 5 minutes
@@Alexander-rz4br I think it's just a matter of personal preference. I was skeptical about being able to do this at all with my little lady arms, but I used WD40 and pushed it onto the top ones first.. then jacked the muffler up with a jug of kitty litter and a book, & just pushed the muffler hooks into the bottom holes with no issues.
Hi Chazz, do you have any advice if the metal rod that is connected to the exhaust and pushed into the rubber bracket, has completely rusted off? Don't know if I need to replace the whole middle exhaust!? Thanks, great video by the way

I just got a caravan but the guy took off the actual metal hangers with the rubber connected , the part thats tucked up in your vehicle. what the heck do I do now???
My old work runner is humming like mad from exhaust I'm pretty sure it's a bracket or mount there's doesn't seem to be any muffler damage but I can't get under too far..would I get the humming vibrations of a loose unlined exhaust?
Always get a second or third opinion, the mechanic i had been dealing with for years said i needed to replace my control arms, and they are not cheap. I've been stressed out for six months to a year trying to save and worrying about how i will ever afford the repairs and find out i only need fifteen dollars worth of mounts. makes me wonder how many other times he ripped me off

Thanks. I can't get these anywhere. What are the part numbers? I brought some on eBay but were small. I tired to source them from a main dealer and he wanted £79 ! How is that possible. Could you tell me where you got yours?
On my car the top fitting(metal rod) on the car is just a straight bar with no kink at the end and so every now and then it will drop off the mount and the exhaust rattle comes back. Should I just weld some more section on or what else could I do to stop it falling off
The new one is too thick. I had same problem buying the one from Halfords. It's 5cm thick but I need 2.5cm. There just isn't enough space for me to get the thick one on.
It's the wrong hanger, it's too tchick and doesn't fit. It can drop the exhaust pipe because it's not secure. You bought the hanger for the muffler and you put it in the middle.

Will have to be replaced, and welded back on, only thing to do
i came to this video because i’m having the same issue. hopefully some mechanics wire does the trick.
I know with my Volvo S60 d5 Volvo sell those that bolt on 😃, I had to get one for my rear box it wasn't expensive about 8 quid

I did that and it worked well just gotta reapply some a few times
Also make sure to put the top hanger first, then the bottom
@@mhajile I used lithium grease. Evidently WD40 is not good for rubber. The best for rubber is the grease used in the video.
It is a lot easier if you use the correct tool for the job. Buy off ebay an exhaust hanger removal pliers tool only around £11
