Angron having modified terminator armor but a 3+ armor save in the original HH rules makes me think the modifications were just "if we make it worse he can fit in it."
Technically, most of the primarchs just had modified power armor. Of course it was much, much more durable than actual terminator armor, but that's more because it was made with better materials and better artifice. The actual structure of the armor is what determines its make. Horus, Perturabo, Vulkan, and at least one other primarch had modified terminator armor, which was bulkier and thicker than the armor of their brothers.
This is even more baffling because it is HORUS HERESY, an era where artificer armor was an officer's standard gear and it gave 2+ armorsave WITHOUT DRAWBACKS OF TERMINATOR ARMOR! I personally think he had made his armor worse specifically because he was a gladiator and for him being fully protected just made fights boring.

Minor correction about Gorgon Terminators: The Conversion fields inside it don’t exactly store up the energy, they convert incoming energy, photonic, thermal, kinetic or otherwise, into flashes of blinding light. So shooting a Gorgon Terminator is essentially the same thing as flashbanging yourself. The Iron Hands that wear them are basically miniature dreadnoughts, as not only is a shitload of cybernetic augmentation required for you to properly interface with the suit, they’re basically surgically bonded to it, meaning that once an Iron Hand puts on a suit of Gorgon Terminator armor, he never takes it off.
I mean given how many systems they have in them they were probably designed to minimize casualties in high speed mining. We don't need tunnel supports if we can both survive and dig our way out of a cave in mentality. And the sheer scale of human technology in the golden ages of technology would demand that level of speed. Corporations just hollowing out asteroids large enough to have their own atmospheres in days.
This is a huge misconception. Terminator armour is an Imperium creation using old mining suits as a skeleton. The mining suits would most likely not be designed to take anything close to the same punishment as terminator armour Furthermore, as robots were the primary fighting force during DAoT, terminator armour man not have even existed in any capacity back then
Another thing. An STC was once discovered that actually had a Terminator-esque suit of armor from the DAoT. I know it's not Astartes but, would the Votann's Hearthguard armor technically be Terminator plate? Granted it would be more closely related to the mining suits worn in the Dark Age of Tech that Terminator armor is descended from.
I suppose, Yeah. None of the STC's that they were based upon were dedicated combat armour, but instead high danger asteroid mining suits, made "killy'er" by the various Forge Worlds researching the ultimate Astartes armour. I reckon the Squats developments would have been along similar lines. No dedicated "super heavy infantry" armour STC's survived (that we know of) from the Dark age of Technology.... as by the time they would have made use of such, that role for humanity was taken by all but unstoppable (and reasonably expendable) "Abominable Intelligence" creations... Imagine if there was a pattern of Terminator armor that allowed them to have standard astardi's movement... The giant pauldrons would be useful if they contain shoulder cannons or something just makes them easier to shoot at and more stuff to have to deal with getting damaged for nothing😅
Large pauldrons means more surface area likely to be shot at, which means it's less likely other parts of the armor get shot at. It also means they can be thicker and more resistant to attacks which may damage or even pierce thinner parts of the armor.
Astartes' Terminator armor could proably be scaled back to our modern day Bomb squad suits. Clunky, hella protective but good luck running in them. Custodian Allarus terminator plate however, is WILDLY better than the best Astartes terminator plate. I think the Vulkan pattern terminator armor is actually the goofy looking one with the gigantic pauldrons. The "Saturnine" armor everyone keeps talking bout is actually the armor of the solar auxilia, which were once called the "Saturnine Ordo". The community keeps getting this wrong. Basically when the "vulkan" pattern was created, it was an attempt from GW to make the old terminator armor canonical again. Luetin09 made a video about it. th-cam.com/video/XB2fjqy3GVw/w-d-xo.html

Couple lore poi ts I like about terminator plate. 1: Man kind has truly fallen far when you consider the "best" armor is worse than the Dark Age of Tech mining equipment it is based on. 2: there is always a crane crew on standbys in case a Terminator trip on his way to the shitter and literally cannot getup. 3: why are there not more Melta Grenades around? Like from what I have read, those things body anything metal, you would think it would boil even a terminator like a lobster.
I need a humans of the dark age video or book about this . Men of Iron and Men of Gold along with STC’s humans at the peak of their technological development. How did they traverse the galaxy what technology did they have ? Is their any books anyone knows that mention the dark age of technology? I’ve just finished my 200 book of warhammer on Audible it’s the only reason I have that I haven’t herd much about it or maybe I’ve forgot so much lore in warhammer it’s got something for everyone. Great video bro sorry for the long comment .
You missed one model. It was a figure released in 1e, before the 'look' of Terminators was decided on. In the original release article in White Dwarf, it was painted blue. Where elements of both the other armors ended up in the "final" Terminator design, nothing of this third one continued on. However, it was never retconned away, and is STILL a model of Terminator armor.
Some of the armors when you read about them and what the primarch survived...make you go "the basic astartes should survive so much more than." Like Curze's armor is pathetic, as is Omegon/Alpharius' armor. They should never have been able to survive what they have based on their armor being almost the same as their astartes. ESPECIALLY Omegon/Alpharius, they purposefully wore the same armor as the rest of their chapter! It is literally the same, there is no reason they should be surviving what they have.
You need the black carapace to interface with it. Thats why only space marines can use them. Same for their regular power armor and why the ones worn by regular humans are nowhere near as impressive.
Saturnine is not the egg terminator armour. There is none bit of lore that connect the two things outside a fanmade association. Saturnine was just a name without description, the egg armour was a description without a name. Still, not the same armour.
But yet in the 10th edition trailer a tyranid is able to stab and then rip a Terminator in half while being shot point blank with an Assault Cannon with little effort.
Does gravis armour have the crux terminatus if they serve the same purpose as the terninator plate? I mean the primaris marine should not be denied that honour even if he can't wear the terminator right?
Terminators are peak badass for Space Marines. Cataphractii is my personal favorite with how it's the most armored. A literal walking tank among Terminator plate. The ultimate form of TTS Dorn's quote of "The best offense is a good defense."

gravis armor is basically as close to terminator armor you can get while still being jump pack capable if im not mistaken
5:08 don’t forget Blood Raven Chapter Master Gabriel Angelos wears Tartarus terminator armor
Grey Night Terminator armor is best looking space marine terminator armor.
I would really like to see a video about an exctint assassin temple Maerorus and story about a Legienstrasse. The first and last graduated assassin.
It makes you wonder how advanced the Power Armour was in the Dark Age...
Are the scarab occult terminators basically tataros pattern? Just heavily modified.
7:16 poor Lamenters, at least they got Primaris reinforcements I think.
Is the fate of the Imperium of Man to become like the orks or the Aeldar? And the fate of the orks to become like the tyranids?
Ok, now someone explain how "Rending claws" tear into these like paper?
I kinda wanna see the armor of each primarch now
Some of the armors when you read about them and what the primarch survived...make you go "the basic astartes should survive so much more than." Like Curze's armor is pathetic, as is Omegon/Alpharius' armor. They should never have been able to survive what they have based on their armor being almost the same as their astartes. ESPECIALLY Omegon/Alpharius, they purposefully wore the same armor as the rest of their chapter! It is literally the same, there is no reason they should be surviving what they have.
Termies are by far my favorite units
terminator armor is from the golden age of technology, originally used as mining equipment, STC produced them and later the Martians
Sooo… I can’t stop thinking about what shark daddy would look like if he was a primaris
Would love to see a sister of battle getting terminator armour but different. Same thing with other factions
You need the black carapace to interface with it. Thats why only space marines can use them. Same for their regular power armor and why the ones worn by regular humans are nowhere near as impressive.
@@MrFallenone true, but you never know when GW might give us new terminator armour for different faction
@@valkyriegremoryFor GW even the tiniest coin is worth it to butchering the lore and bring up new bullahit stuff.
@@Cherryking400 true.
Yep he did forgot about the tyrant siege terminators from the iron warriors
Saturnine is not the egg terminator armour. There is none bit of lore that connect the two things outside a fanmade association. Saturnine was just a name without description, the egg armour was a description without a name. Still, not the same armour.
But yet in the 10th edition trailer a tyranid is able to stab and then rip a Terminator in half while being shot point blank with an Assault Cannon with little effort.
This video made me edge in my Mark 5 Heresy armor. I wish daddy E would grant me any terminator Armor 😭🙏
The armor type that got me into warhammer ❤
Nothing but the best for the emps golden boy
Minitaurs begin to feel like old (silly op) Ultramarines.
A video on the blue boy successor chapters most likely to be secretly adopted traitor gene seed chapters
Can you believe that these were originally used as mining equipment in the DAoT
Bring Back Timmy. Video 17
the big shoulder terminator armor is not actually saturnite, its nocturne pattern terminator armor. someone from gw said it in a twitter post back i the day. i forget what youtuber it was but someone did a video on it.
My dad has an old figurine of one of those weird big shoulder plate guys.
Attempt number 14:
What if the Primarchs where found in the order of their creation. So the Lion was first and Horus was nearly last. I think that could change quite a bit, don't you think?
P:S yeah, I'm definitely doing this till it gets to a 100.
