Most of these toy copters / drone's need a calibration for headless mode.
Mostly done by putting the copter/drone on a level ground, when its connected to the battery ofcourse. Turn on transmitter and pushing both sticks down to the left corner.
Lights will flash rapidly and then turn solid, calibration is done for headless mode.
I agree on the camera, its bad 9 out of 10 times, better get a mobius or any other keychain camera, its worth it.
Nice vid ali, keep up the reviews!

step 1- take off guards, they are counter productive. step 2 - replace bushings with bearings, extends motors life and hovers better. step 3- take off fake antenna and pull real one through hole, range increase of 100 meter. I also removed landing gear, not necessary as i land it in my hand, or softly on ground. When i want speed i remove camera and battery cover, using a piece of tape to hold battery pack in place. This thing is crazy fast if you do this. Do not run on full power for long periods or perform alot of flips or you will need motors - guaranteed! Do not run two batteries back to back, these motors will not handle the heat, they will fail. So order some motors now. If it drags a corner on takeoff its already crapping out. Have fun, i love my tarantula, fastest bird ive flown

Hell of a buy for $50 odd bucks. Takes a beating and keeps going. Great distance too. Search on TH-cam for the many ways you can attach a gopro or runcam and get great pics. I just throw this in my cars trunk without too much concern and if the opportunity comes up, burn up a couple of batteries worth of fun. Highly recommend it, especially for your first quad...

Thank you for your video series. A word to your other US viewers about buying this quad from GearBest: If you buy this "good deal" and it's a bad item you wish to exchange they expect you to pay shipping to China. I bought the Tarantula from the "US Warehouse" and it was defective. It took four days of back and forth before Gear Best finally told me I had to pay to ship it to China, according to the USPS postage calculator that is $60. No thanks bro......I'll stick with Amazon from now on, it may cost a bit more but at least they don't screw around with you for 4 days on a return and expect you to ship the item around the world at your expense

Too bad the one who put on this video doesn't take the time to learn about the things he tries to do with this quad. He puts down the good options that make this quad an even easier quad to fly by not having a clue with what he's doing. There are a few good things about this video, but I just can't remember what they were. Have a great day, and Good Flying -:-}>

I have YI 4k camera so I can use it for capturing. Could you please recommend me some cheap stable drone (up to 150 dollars) for taking YI 4K camera to the air? Thank you.

Hi Alishan. I find your videos helpful and informative.
I would like to add some input for any of your viewers that may be interested in buying one of the X6 Tarantulas, if that is ok. I paid $99 and change from Tmart.com with the camera.
Here are the pros and cons to the X6 from my experience as a regular buyer/user:
Cons: 1. The prop guards will ruin your motors/props. Flimsy plastic that will twist up in the props even on soft landings. Throw them away. They are unnecessary anyway because this is not a copter that you want to fly indoors or in small spaces with trees and other obstacles nearby, such as backyards. It is too powerful and does not handle precisely enough! In open spaces, prop guards only serve as extra weight and on this model will actually damage the unit. 2. Check the prop screws every flight! I had one break between plastic prop head and gear rod which causes loss of motor drive (I thought motor was dead). It was a pain to get out without almost destroying the prop and rod. 3. The battery cover with retaining screw (use it or lose it) is a ridiculously, time consuming idea, especially since unit has no on/off switch! Battery also causes excessive heat buildup inside body of copter, near the control board, and I mean HOT. This cannot be good over time. I suggest you modify to mount battery outside of body shell. 4. Factory 5MP camera and mount produce unusable video and pics. Jello videos ALL throughout. Throw away PTZ mount and also permanently fix in place the camera lense housing (it hinges loosely and wiggles with copter vibration), then mod another way to mount camera (perhaps Velcro strap, bands, etc). Toss the included 8GB mini SD card as well and buy a real one. Of the 3 copters I own, not one of the junk Chinese SD cards were usable. 80% of video files come out corrupt and will not play (if they even record anything).
The X6 has a verified measured range of 200 ft (70 meters) horizontally, and an estimated 400 feet (130 meters) vertically, but is finicky and communication cuts out in spots for a few seconds at this height.
Pros: 1. After modifying following all of the above procedures, I found the X6 a pleasure to fly. It is very powerful and thus, very fast and responsive within its range. I experience 10 to 12 minutes of flight time per battery even with video on. Note that as of this comment, this is only my second week with this unit and I have only had four good flights so far after fixing all of the manufacturer's defects, so only time will tell if I run into anymore problems. I am hoping that will not be the case.

what do you suggest for FPV for this drone? just buy one and I am trying to figure out what would be a good choice for videos and photos, I am not an Professional, just want take some shots from sky and want and image without jello or anything like that....
Actually I bought from China and probably will be receiving in 30 days from now.
Could you suggest a good choice however not that expensive?
This is my first drone, actually second... I bought an MJX X101 as well but it didn't arrived yet too...

6:43 something that size landing a flip from ~3ft over ground?? awesome! also, does it bind to JJRC H6/8C transmitter? oh yes and the "return home" feature orients to its "base heading" set on powerup/binding, flying backwards along that heading for easy return (only works when flying within arc of 45 degrees from base heading!)

Hey quick question/observation. It did not look like you set up the IOC when you first powered it up. I did see you calibrate the drone. But I do not remember you setting up the IOC. You might have set it up off camera. If you didn't set it up, maybe that is why the IOC/Return Home didn't work? I'm also wanting to know because I have ordered one of these drones because almost every video I have seen about this drone is very positive. Please, let me know if you tried setting up the IOC and then tried the Return Home thing.. Thanks.. Good video.

First of all the Headles Mode is working very good, BUT You have to connect the battery and put the Tarantula X6 on the ground very fast and in a direction that will be Your forward. Second thing is a camera. Don't waste Your money to buy the stock cam. Better buy a mobius because the quality is great. You can see it on my videos. Best regards! ;)

  • @mblair9001

Thank you for all of the work you have put into your videos. This video helped me to pick a tarantula x6 over the 8c hex. I agree on the flimsy materials but how it handles is what made the decision.. I have not really been interested in taking pics / videos from these - I like to just fly them like an rc plane.
I wish that I could buy these quads as bind and fly so I can use my Turnigy 9x radio and not buy a bunch of cheap transmitters. Other than that, I like this quad very much and all quads at this level come with a transmitter so I can't hold it against this one. I do plan to budingt up a full "hobby" level quad or hex next. I flew electric planes in the past - foamies with a clocked speed 400 and 8 x 600 mAh nicads.
In general, the advance in technology is amazing these days -
I built up a micro blade heli ~12 years ago and it cost about $300 for everything. After all that I was never really satisfied with how it flew. It always felt like it may go out of control but at the same time it was not a well handling machine.
Fast forward to the current day and I bought an estes proto-x. It's smaller than that micro blade heli but flies far, far better. I know this comparison is a little bit like comparing apples to oranges because they are different configurations but the estes has been way more enjoyable.
Just in case anyone reads this whole thing, I tried a few other micro quads to buzz around the house but would definitely recommend the proto-x / syncro-x (they're the same thing afaik).
Here's my impressions on the others I tried:
    > eachine h8, holy stone 62R (unstable, the gyro had to be calibrated multiple times per flight)
    > Holy Stone M62R (was built like a toy more than the others, low quality)
    > Adoer F8 H7 (the controls did not work precicely. It acted like the throttle only had 3 steps so it was either pinned to the ceiling or falling to the floor every flight.
Sorry so long and again I like your videos. The MTD FPV Plane video is awesome.

It seems there may be a knock off version.

There are no real knock off of this quad there are currently 3 companies selling the quad under different names, jjrc, revell and the original manufacturer yizhan. The revell one does come with a better transmitter (less cheap feeling) but no camera
